The Last Straw

Hello,

Many of you have seen me around the forums for a while now. I have persevered through many expansions, and there were so many things that I was looking forward to in Dawntrail, but at this time, I cannot get myself to play it. I gave Viper a try, but I was immediately put off by its gameplay and couldn't get myself invested. At this time, there is no job in all of FFXIV that I have any interest in playing other than PVP Sage. Unfortunately, I cannot take PVP Sage into PVE, so I have no way of progressing the new MSQ. I'm stuck and cannot find a way forward.

Eukrasian Dyskrasia, as of the launch of Dawntrail, does not stack with Eukrasian Dosis DOTs. It was already the most insignificant improvement that could possibly be made to Sage to address the job's failed identity of being a "DPS Healer," and for some reason we aren't allowed to have even that. Fun is not allowed in FFXIV as I've come to learn, and unfortunately, I play games to have fun. At this time, I have unsubscribed to FFXIV and will await better changes for Sage to reflect the intended identity of the job. Here is my brief feedback that will get me to return to FFXIV:

• Make Eukrasian Dyskrasia stackable with Eukrasian Dosis DOTS.
• Fix Addersting. Toxikon feels barely functional at all and is a massively disappointing gauge resource, unlike PVP Toxikon and Toxikon II
• Reduce the cooldowns of Phlegma and Psyche by 50%
• Adjust the potency of Dosis spells to compensate for these changes

I would really love to enjoy the content and story in Dawntrail. I want to see Solution 9. I want to try Archadion. I want to play the upcoming field operations. But until the above changes, or changes similar to these that help Sage fulfill the job fantasy it was given at the start of Endwalker, I cannot find any enjoyment in playing the game.

To all of you who I have met, spoken with, and got to enjoy many conversations with, thank you so much for helping make my journey to this point a more enjoyable one, and to help me realize that I'm not alone. It has been a long, enduring run, but I've been defeated. I do not feel valued as a player. I do not feel that my play style is respected by the designers or the community. I do not feel that I am wanted in this game. There are promises of more job identity in 8.0, but we are in 7.0. I cannot keep fighting the good fight.

Power to you. The healers are in such a god awful state right now, it’s like someone is at SE actively forcing them to make all healers as boring and uninteresting as possible.

I don’t even like AST but for them to look at AST, the healer whose entire identity is card divinity, and smack it on a huge cooldown is just insanity to me. The balance of the healers is also completely screwed, some shield healers can burst heal like crazy others can’t, some pure healers can shield like crazy others can’t. What a freaking mess.

It breaks my heart to think about what this role could have been, not even in the DPS department. They absolutely slaughtered AST's divining mechanic with two budget Aetherflows. The saddest part is that we're seeing this level of dumbing down with DPS, too, but of course when we dare speak up we're immediately shut down compared to when Tank or DPS players complain about their roles; it's that mentality that got us into this mess. People said "go play ultimate" to us and now they're panicking that the Netflixification outbreak is spreading into their role. We're losing BLM, for god's sake.

There's still Ninja I guess (if the new changes didn't lobotomize it too?) if you are lucky enough that its playstyle speaks to you. Doesn't for me, and between DRG getting glorified WAR rotation treatment and BLM getting... What ever the fuck is going on with BLM, I'm not sure where to go from here.

I've been a healer main since Burning Crusade in WoW and swapped to XIV in early Stormblood. I just cancelled my sub and will take a month to go do something else before looking for another MMO to play. Maybe I'll look into WoW's new expansion later in the summer.

Maybe check out GW2 I found a scrapper healer in it one of the most fun healers I've ever played in an mmo.

Since Shadowbringers, I've mainly stuck to Dancer, and while I don't dislike Dancer at all, it's missing certain key aspects of gameplay, and I feel burnt out from it. I'm not burnt out from the game, just I want to kind of move onto something different. Red Mage is something I'd consider, but it has the same issue. At the end of the day, I still want to heal. I parade myself as someone who enjoys "Green DPS" but that's because I want both attacking and healing to be a part of my gameplay. I don't care about my damage output as long as its balanced with everything else. I just want to enjoy DPSing with a modest set of attacks while also keeping an eye on the party and switching to full healing if I need to.

Like I said above, I want to play PVP Sage. In PVP, Sage's DoT has a much shorter duration, Phlegma has a much shorter cooldown, Toxikon is an OGCD attack I weave that makes my other spells stronger, and Pneuma is a powerful cooldown that also reduces incoming damage. I only really have 5 attacks, but because there's so much more frequency in my different attack spells, and that there's more interplay between them, that's what I think is enjoyable.

My PVE Main is PVP Sage even if I'm not allowed to play it in PVE. And I do realize certain things don't translate well, but I think there are simple solutions to resolving that. I would literally pay any Mogstation price to have a version of Sage that copied everything on PVP Sage except Mesotes and Eukrasia with its cooldown charges, pasted it overtop the PVE actions, and adjusted the potencies appropriately.

Sad to see more of the old guard disappearing, but it's perfectly understandable. Have fun out there.

It's honestly best to put the game down until at least 7.1, there's 0 reason you should play this current garbage if you don't feel like it, the story and xpac will just feel like a slog.

I still enjoy pvp and I'll be doing the story with my brother, but I'd be putting this game down for a long while if not for that. It stings so much to see the excellent ideas and gameplay they have for pvp, yet Yoshifraud -or whoever makes the pve calls- does what he does with pve gameplay.

I was thinking I might come back for the new PVP even if just for a little bit. I'll be keeping an eye on patch notes throughout DT. If the devs can finally see that this strategy is not as inclusive as they think it is and pivot, I'll be incredibly happy to jump back in and enjoy the story.

A part of me really doesn't want to miss out on Arcadion and Solution 9 being the popular endgame hub, because I really like cyber fantasy. Hence why I want to love Sage. I feel torn about things, but even when I think about what to do about the story, I just pause. I can't pick a job to go through it as cause I don't really want to play any of the PVE jobs right now.

The only reason that keeps me from turning into one of those players that only sporadically come back for story, is pvp designs. Without it, I'd have burned out of 99% of the content the game has to offer.

Beyond having a slight interest in trying out various jobs here and there just for the leveling aspect, there is also no pve job that interests me to actually main, and the choice is restricted already to rphys.

PvP job designer should got bonus each month..

RIP, it'll be a shame to see you go Ty. Hopefully SE wake up to how stagnant the gameplay has gotten and start taking it seriously soon =/

Hope they throw you a bone in the inevitable 7.01 adjustments, it’s a shame to see people so passionate about it just running out of bothers to give.

I still enjoy XIV because I really like the story, but maybe after I get the MSQ done, IDK if being interested just into Pictomancer will be enough for keeping me around. I love the healer's role in every MMORPG I play and hurts to know how awful it is here.

So, depending on how I feel, I might just let my sub runs out and return just at the patch 7.55 to have the rest of the patch story without cliffhangers and wait until the pre-launch week to buy 8.0. It will be enough with Media Tour and whatnot to gauge if the alleged job improvements are actually worth.

I was hoping they'd at least fix SGE because they did promise a job for the people that wanted a more technical healer, but unfortunately, they're not willing to invest very much effort into healer design at all.

I was happy for you when you said DT SGE was a decent step with the double DoT, but then they couldn't even give you that. I personally don't enjoy SGE, but I'd love it if at least some portion of the bored healer mains can have a healer job they can enjoy.

It's sad to see more of the old playerbase leaving, but I guess they no longer care to appeal to us.

I'm just staying around for friends and high rank PvP, but I do hope the 8.0 job identity rework at least captures some of the magic of the HW/SB jobs back.

If i would have seen the full patch notes i would not have bought dawntrail or resubbed.

Maybe the story will be redeeming and there is always summoner.

I understand wanting to quit as I already quit the game back in 2022 for over a year. Only came back because there are still a few Jobs that interest me: BRD, MNK, and Pictomancer.

Here’s to hoping that something will change in the future, provided that the strike will make a difference (which has to some degree).

Just throwing this out there... I definitely would also appreciate Pneuma feeling more like its PVP iteration where it's a powerful attack with great engage potential. Something that helps protect that party while you perform your burst.
