Fatal DirectX Error (30000000)

I'm currently playing on a rather old laptop. barely met minimum specs before the update. Now im unable to log in due to the error above. every fix says to update drivers, but everything is already up to date.

Things i have tried. without success

Compatibility mode - lowest res, and removed fullscreen optimizations
ran as admin
updated drivers - my machine is old as hell so there hasn't been an update in years.
disabled .net framework 4.8 and installed 4.5 (didnt work so ive reverted back)
modified the ffxiv config file to change resolutions
deleted the entire final fantasy folder in Documents>My Games and had it recreate all the files.
downgraded Directx to 11 (moved back to 12 when it didnt fix it)

Since the update I've been getting "Fatal DirectX Error (30000000)" I've re-installed the game, updated (every single) driver, and followed every single solution I could find. I've seen other people mentioning having this exact same issue. I have an Intel(R) HD Graphics 530. I have also updated windows, and also deleted and restored my config files, with zero success. (If it wasn't clear I'm a Windows player.)

The game didn't run with the greatest FPS before, but I was able to fully enjoy all aspects of it with only a SINGLE instance where my frame drop was highly-detrimental to my ability to play. The graphics update is so minor that I cannot see it being such a hurdle for my computer to handle, I hope this gets addressed quickly.

exactly the same problem I have, pretty much enjoying the game like you but never had a rly bad frame drop. Playlable till today with Dawtrail sadly

Ive tried tons of ways that i found on internet and none works, seems like this issue been here for years :(

There are people with much better machines than mine who are having this problem. It's not a machine issue, it's something tripping in their software for sure. On low settings you should still be able to play, infact, I can load it on my super old laptop at like 2fps, but it still loads.

One of my friends fixed his error by downloading DDU (Display driver uninstaller) uninstalling his video drivers and not reinstalling them. its kind of an odd way to do it but until there is a better fix, this is something to try

you are not alone. Same error and no game access since the maintenance started.
I wish they would at least acknowledge this error and work on it.

I wish there was a way to make then notice this error. I've tried to contact tech.support but they ignores me telling that they can't help with this sort of issues

I am able to bypass the error by uninstalling my graphics driver, however the game only runs at like 2 fps. This 100% confirms its a driver issue. (however we knew that previously) if anyone is able to possibly try older versions of their graphics drivers and let us know the result. We already know that updating it works for newer devices most of the time. but an older version might do the same if you are already up to date.

Yeah, i managed to run game at 1fps also. I've tried 2015version and it's directx error, version 2020+ is running on low fps and ruined display resolution. I managed to adjust ingame resolution to lowest low and it's still 1-0 fps...
I don't know it's seems like ff is dead to me now. Great upgrade...just awesome... always dreamed about smthg like this

You can not run the game as you only have Intel HD Graphics + driver from 2018, its a way under the (new) system requirements.
The requirements have been put higher since the graphic update in 7.0.
So if someone reached the lowest before 7.0, it may not be reach the new one.

@Omnisai: post your system information, but it seems you also don't reach the system requirement if you got that low performance.

Yes, my laptop is out of date. It was out of date 8 years ago. but even though it didnt meet the minimum requirements before the patch it could still play it, albeit at a lower framerate. But still the fact remains i can run the game without a graphic driver at all, meaning there is something putting a hard stop to specific drivers. For that reason specifically i feel that there has to be a way to get past this for those who can't afford a new computer. I appreciate the info that our systems are to old and not compatible, However, if you find some more info that can help bypass this, such as a way to force the game to run as DirectX 11, please let us know.

I hope u're right and they'll be interested in resolving this problem. I REALLY hope they won't ignore those of us who can't afford to buy a new PC to play a game that we all was playing till this update. Cuz it's so unfair that's it's just infuriating that they are cutting us all out after this graphic update. Btw it's not even that noticeable. I saw screenshots.

I have a good feeling that there will be a patch that will add a setting in config to choose between dx11 or 12 at some point. similar to before where they had the option to choose dx9 or dx11.

Windows has a kind of fallback mechanism for cases, when a driver is not installed. That is the reason why the game runs at 1 fps if you uninstall the drivers. And the hard stop are usually missing features of your GPU.

Cheers
