Tuliyollal Theme is an Odd Choice for the Setting

The Tuliyollal theme is very unexpected. It’s a very good piece, just extremely odd when inserted into the setting. If they wanted to keep a jazzy theme they could have gone with Brazilian slow samba or bossa nova. As opposed to the jarring North American swing and lounge jazz.

TBH my wife and i were like: "The music is alright but wtf is it doing here?"

It's definitely bold (good) and jarring (less good). I do like the first part of the music though, it feels fitting to the arrival in the city from the perspective of the WoL even though local vibes kinda got lost in the process.

I do not like the second part even though it's good music too. The sax and everything feels like it belongs more to an adult lounge to me than to an exotic new city of the new world...

It's kind of fun but it sounds too... festive ? I don't know, it just feels out of place.

It's nice don't get me wrong but it does feel out of place.

Didn't like it at first, but it has grown on me.

would love if they put this in Kugane see Japan roll over in confusion, the song is good but it doesnt belong there, there wasnt any Aztec spanish theme they could of put there? some gerudo valley type thing but instead 50s jazz???? i love Soken music but this doesnt go there :confused::confused::confused:

Its good music but for this place ? Why ? I would like to know what thoughts are behind this decision are.

The cover of Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing" does not fit with the zone. What does big band 50's jazz have to do with Tural?

Yea...but the problem is that the day theme is not latin jazz.

I was stoked for some I dunno, flutes? Interesting gourd shaker percussion? Something more tropical sounding? Instead we have... the roaring 20's

I agree, but I give them a pass on some of the city music. Some of it just won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Like San d'Oria- I really just did not like that at all. I shut that speaker off every time I zoned in. But The Sanctuary of Zi'Tah I used to AFK in just to fall asleep.

So, this city is XIV's San d'Oria for me. I have yet to find something equivalent to Zi'Tah here though. Closest so far was Iroha's theme, but that doesn't count since that's also XI's.

But this game has the best dungeon music - I never get tired of Rise or the seemingly endless variations on Unbreakable or A Long Fall - the folks churning those out are of a SINGULAR talent.

Jazz is a blend of music. Tuliyollal is a blend of cultures. Idk what ya'll are on about, it fits extremely well.

Except that's not latin jazz. Reminds me of how someone tried to cope saying "It's Cuban Jazz!" while knowing NOTHING about cuba, and an actual Cuban had to step up and say "No, that's not Cuban Jaz, genius".

I don't like it at all. I keep my BGM off in Tuliyollal. I hope that something happens in the story or future update that permanently changes it like how the BGM for Ultima Thule changes.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I got raito'd pretty hard when I made such mention in shout chat.

Luckily, they restored the ability to toggle BGM at will with the /bgm chat command even during cutscenes. Type it in when you get fatigued, type it in again to turn it back on when a scene starts. I love the game's music, truly, but it gets tiring after hours of play, so I take full advantage of this as necessary.

I thought it fit perfectly. It's not a cultural style of music from the inspirations for Tuliyolal, but it represents what the city is very well. Tuliyolal is vibrant, fast, energetic, and cheerful. Just like the day song.

I don't hear it any more. Every time I turn BGM on in response to some post, I have to turn it off again when I go into Solution 9.

the theme from Yak Tel would have been a great choice for it
akin to Crystarium's
but i guess it's a "fun" "vacation city" compared to the Crystarium

The Tuliyollal theme (or parts of it at least) is just an instrumental of the Dawntrail ending theme. I guess the jazz-big-band vibes was to make it more tonally consistent. Wouldn’t make much sense to base the theme off a ‘festival style’ ensemble vocal piece and it’s a slow piece with solo instrumentation

it feels like a rip off version of the FFX chocobo riding song, thus reminding me of that race and making me hate it by proxy.
