Feedback 7.0: Lips and face expressions changed too much

First of all; I'm grateful for the effort put in the game and try to improve it, there are a lot of things that changed for the better, however... I think there have been too many unnecessary changes on character's faces and I'm sad and dissapointed about it.

I hope the FFXIV team works a bit more on this issue because almost anything changed from benchmark to benchmark 1.1 appart from light sources...I feel a bit betrayed about that.

Second of all:
My main problem comes from characters 'default' expression drastic changes, and lips now having different shapes an colors, these are just some examples since I have 8 characters and all of them look very different from before...

Please give us back lips gradients+shapes and face expressions

My au-ra looked like a fragile young girl, and she nows looks like an angry lizard, also much more older than before. Her vulnerable look is not there anymore... I'm sad

Change of lip shape + lose of gradient (I liked this one specifically)
Also her face looks dollyfied and "beautified", that was never my intention with this particular character, I liked more a neutral appearance and it's lost

My elezen looked serious and imposing, and now looks like she is soft with a subtle smile...
Honestly, her face looks better now, more pretty, but I don't want pretty I want ANGRY.

Hope I explained myself clearly even if I dont' have the best comparisons, , hope it gets better in a reasonable timeframe... I understand if it can't be very soon, but at least I hope it's noticed and adressed eventually. Thank you for reading!

It's been a while since people kept saying the characters have changed much, and even though I wear glasses, I'd like to say that I really, really don't notice a 0.1% difference aside from higher-resolution textures.

It's the same for male miqo'te face 1. Aside from the eyes being fairly different and just seeming empty, the mouth is completely wrong- particularly the shape of the lip texture, completely changing the personality of the face. I hope Squeenix makes adjustments to the character models.

As someone who also wears glasses, I notice a huge difference for my characters.

Im very upset with this drastic changes.

A huge reason for my character looking so different now is because the mouth is fundamentally different, because the lips cover the entire area which previously was the fold of the mouth. And this seems rather consistent, unless I am mistaken: it is like the graphics designers straight up confused mouth-folds with the lips themselves. For me, it can uncharitably be desribed like I now have a bit of a "botox smile". On the positive note, it should be relatively easy for Square Enix to fix it because of how conrete it is. The massive amounts of lip gloss are not helping, though.

The eyes are the other huge reason. Eyelashes are still way too symmetrical, large and dark for my character, all though they reduced it in comparison to the first benchmark, it is still a problem, such a problem that I can't really see my eyes clearly, and they are darkened by the eyelashes themselves. The eyes themselves look weirdly glazed over. Facial expressions can look really weird around the eye-area too, to the degree that I thought I spotted a "second eyebrow" in some emotes?

You're correct. I made a thread about it because it's the same for every single race.

It's exactly this, I have the feeling they worked on textures but somehow the current team don't understand face features and expressions... it's very upsetting

The positive aspect of that is that it should be fairly easy for Square Enix to fix it, since it is a relatively trackable issue. The problem is that 7.0 is already out, and that can change the whole game of how much can be changed...

My character also has a different, more vacant expression. It's subtle, I'm not looking at a completely different character, but it's noticable to me. I hope they were serious when they promised to tweak more after launch.

My partner had this exact same observation, the smiles in particular stood out on her male aura

theyve completly ruined my auras face and i cant forgive it tbh. he was beautiful and now he looks like garbage top is old bottom is new
