In-doors housing lighting issue

Hello, I noticed a bit of strange lighting inside housing areas.
If you set lighting to 0, it's usually pretty dark (so accent lights from items work better), but now there's a very noticeable yellow ambient light.

Maybe make it less intense? Look how much it changes the color of the character against the black wallpaper.

Housing lighting 0 seems completely messed up, it's way too bright now, completely ruined mine. Hope it gets fixed ASAP.

Yeah. It's a huge issue right now. I love setting lighting of my house to 0 and just using natural lighting. But now it's way too bright, and the ceilings can be clearly seen with this strange yellow hue. It's ruined the vibe on a few of my works. Turn that shit down!

I noticed this immediately in all of my builds, too. I used the five ages glitch to pop out of the ceiling in a home (a large in Lavender Beds) I decorated to check the void, and there's a very bright yellow sun, complete with intense godrays, up there that I don't remember being there before. Housing has always had a skybox with a day/night cycle, but I don't remember it containing a sun.

Maybe this is an oversight of general skybox changes, and where the intense yellow light is coming from?

I'm here to give out my support to this as well. Many venues I've decorated have their lighting set between 0 and 2 and its clear to me how overwhelming this yellow hue is and it's reflecting onto many objects and flooring. Not to mention that it is no longer possible to have a dark environment. It's so bright!

Same issue here - lighting set at 0 and my lovely night sky turned into mush :( I tried changing the color from Void Blue to Midnight Blue, but it hardly made a difference.

Throwing my agreement in here, too!

Lighting at 0 should be almost pitch black, and now it's way too bright, which has ruined the lighting set up and vibe of many builds.

Seconding this. My home has the lighting on 0 and it's supposed to be an abandoned haunted manor, but now it looks like someone turned on fluorescent lighting everywhere. I think just dimming things down could work.
Even in certain dungeons it's just way too vibrant. Like I did the aitiascope earlier and it was so neon blue, it actually hurt my eyes.

Thanks for making this post. I've noticed the same issue, as my darker colors have been washed out after the update.

There might be a way for me with time to overcome the new dead twitching eyes of my Miqo'te or the complete loss of subtlety in her expressions and makeup but what they did to the lighting in housing is an unforgivable disaster. I have no idea how this downgrade made it through quality control. Everything is completely flat and lifeless and the lighting adjustment settings do nothing except wash out textures further. Everything on max possible settings. Even the zooming out capability within housing changed so it feels more claustrophobic. Who approved this? Do they have any idea what they just destroyed?

Here's an example at housing lighting set to 0. Both the ceiling and floor have the exact same dye as the walls. Yet, there's this huge disparity between the two.

I saw something similar in the inn in Gridania that I never noticed before… look at the back window at nighttime. There’s a big ball of light behind the top of the window and a smaller one more towards the floor. If these were added to housing somehow as well, that could explain where it’s coming from.

I used to keep my house on 2, but that’s way too bright now. Even 0 isn’t dark anymore… the worst part is it casts like a haze on furnishings to the point that the colors look washed out and not true to their original appearance.

Interesting, that explains why the yellow hue on the floor gets stronger at low viewing angles.

It's a royal shame that we have to pay for the fix with a loss of reflections.

I really don't get why they just don't implement ray tracing for proper real time reflections.

This is frikkin 2024.
