Gathering Achievements and Journal

If you gatherers are spending your time, working hard in order to obtain a luminary and are worried whether your gathering count will be carried over to version 2.0, have no fear! The development team is working on preparations so that all your hard work will be transferred to version 2.0. As the balance for version 2.0 will change a bit from the current version, there is a possibility that there will be achievements that undergo criteria changes.

Please note that there will be achievements that can no longer be completed in version 2.0 and we are working to compile the information on this, which will be announced on Lodestone in the very near future.

Also, as a bit of a side-note, in version 2.0 we will be implementing a gathering journal (tentative name), which will allow players to check which areas items can be gathered from. We are planning to have this implemented for the alpha test, so please look forward to it!

So about the achievements that will no longer be obtainable... I assume they will be removed from the lists within the categories, but will the points be removed as well? I lean entirely in favor of their removal from point totals. If someone new joins and can't compete with people who got an earlier start then there's no point in...having points. The fun of the rivalry will have been stripped away.

Seasonal achievements already work this way, and why should their points be removed? They worked hard to get them (possibly). That'd be like wiping everyones ifrit weapons in 2.0 because new players won't be able to get those either.

OMG Rukkirii...it never occurred to me that achievement progression might NOT carry over...I would have been /sadpanda had I lost hours of work...OMG

You quoted the reason, and seasonal can be expected to return in time, so people shouldn't become too put off trying to enjoy the fun of some friendly numeric competition. The rest is a misplaced analogy.

In regard to concerns for a track record of personal accomplishments for your character, a count and the achievements themselves is kept in the History section on Lodestone. I'd rather a similar scorecard not be replicated in-game. I'd much prefer an in-game system to allow even a new guy to put in the hours and give anyone a run for their money.

We can have a disappointing rehash in the game, or we can have two systems done right. I'm for having it done right.

It would be nice to have a list of those achievements we need to get now before 2.0, sooner than later, because it would be great to have enough TIME to get them before its too late.

Could this mean there might also be a -real- recipe book for crafters?

Yeah, they already said they were doing that.

I always wondered about getting titles, what's tbd with achievements?

I'm hoping for more to continue with gathering so I can help more crafters. Gathering is easy but should have relative quest in that aspect. Achievements should reward players with bonuses and titles. I can't feel any better about myself with a achievement that doesn't work for me.

I have 1 request of this journal to keep things interesting and add some desire to explore for gathering classes.
There should be a few hidden or unlockable gathering items that can be gathered (preferably with a certain level of gatherer).

Hidden = The gathering job will gather normally in an area and if at the necessary level the item has a chance of being gathered. When this happens it goes into the journal and can be gathered like any other item if the zone/area is right.

Unlockable = A not to crazy/ simplish quest to get a "tool" can be earned that allows you to gather items that are only gathered that way, once added to your journal they gather like any other item.

These are special requests to encourage exploring, and discovery as well as story for gathering.

I hope this progress save applies to synthesis, too!

This is good for completionist freaks like me - a recipe book is a great idea as well!
