Honestly the first thing I saw on the screen was the cyberpunk look and all the fans and I was like "the inspiration for that screen was clearly someone's RGB kitted out PC"
Though since it clearly looks like a tournament, doesn't that just re-tread Omega? We're already the god-killing, savior of the known universe. Nobody is going to defeat us. *shrug*
Hope it's fun though.
I always wanted to combat the RGB lighting excess in a more direct manner than just hating on it.
I like the arena, it reminds me of Pokemon Gyms. They should add flash photography from the audience.
Looks really cool although I wonder if all 4 fights will be the same stage... curious as to what twist they will implement into it cause they usually do not repeat aesthetics.
I guess Alexander was very similar but still different enough
Hate it, give me Ivalice's or pandaemonium's aesthetic any day. This just screams "welcome to tourist nyc where you go into a building and shoot your friends with laser guns."
They did say it would be a tournament somewhere, might have been on the Dawntrail site. But how much of a retreat it is will depend on how it's done.
Remember, Omega was 'something' of a tournament but it was all just some alien robot throwing final fantasy fanservice at us. We'll have to see how this tournament plays out, there could end up being more to the plot and characters involved than the Omega story had before its climax.
As far as 'god killing savior of the known universe' that would apply to any story they could possibly do. Even putting aside the paricular specifics of the nature of 6.0's final boss and the place the climax all went down in, you could apply this to literally any storyline. We know we're going to beat all the bosses in front of us, even if some temporarily get wins in on us like Zenos and what's his face from SHB. This was as true pre EW as it is post EW. And not really a criticism specific to the Arcadia raid.
I'm disappointed everyone beside fending and maiming is getting reskinned pvp gear.
SE I swear to god..
GIVE ME A STEEL CHAIR SPECIAL ACTION
the first tier set look like below average. Oh boy, only thing is cool is the weapon but rest god damn aint hot.
tournament arc raid is cool.
However I absolutely DESPISE the aesthetic for the raid and Solution 9. Obviously everyone has their own tastes, but I'm quite sick of all the highly advanced civilizations we keep interacting with. Alone most are fine IMO but the fact we have so many has made me dread any time we find a new one.
Allag was fine cause it's an ancient extinct one and it still has an interesting fantasy vibe to.
Garlemald I was never a fan of but the fact that the tech was a way to make up being un-able to use magic made it interesting.
Goblins for Alexander I didn't mind cause it was a very steam-punk, could explode at any moment vibe. It was advanced tech but not like incredibly advance sci fi stuff.
Really didn't like the nier stuff. The fights themselves were fun but in addition for the story and lore feeling completely pointless, I also didn't enjoy having even more robots and machines running around.
Not a civilization but i didnt love that we built a regular sci-fi space ship to get to ultima thule. (developing some sort of portal ritual couldve hit the same plot points but been more fantasy)
Omega was fine by himself. I was definitely worried about when we ran into the omnicrons but it ended up being okay since them being advanced never came into play.
We didn't interact with them much but I didn't love that there was yet another race of advanced humanoids (i forget their name) as part of the dead ends dungeon.
The Lopporits being highly advanced I didn't really like at all.
Again for the most part any one of these alone is fine or at least tolerable. But the frequency makes it so much worse. I feel like for every fantasy civilization we meet, we also meet an advanced one. Solution 9 now just takes it to an extreme. There's not even the slightest semblance of it being artistically designed in a way that matches the rest of the game world. It's not sci-fi fantasy even it's straight up cyber punk. It feels so out of place to me and I really wish we'd less super advanced things being added to the world. I'll try and be as open minded as possible as I go through the story but I'm very very turned off to solution 9 and everything to do with it currently.
