Cosmic Exploration Feedback from Media Tour

My first time posting on here, but I feel very strongly about this and do not know if others feel the same way.

It was mentioned in Media Tour that they wanted to make Cosmic Exploration similar (not the same) to Ishgardian Restoration, where an area advances as you progress. But they did not want it to happen for everyone together, but instead individually (akin to Tribe areas) so there is no 'Fear of Missing Out' and can be done by new players at any time.

I very strongly support the style of Ishgardian Restoration where it advanced for everyone at the same time. I was not even there for it as I began in Shadowbringers, but the idea of working towards a goal with everyone and seeing the fruits of that labor together sounds incredibly rewarding. I still love Ishgardian Restoration even as a late comer.

They mentioned wanting to again focus on the MMO portion of the game and make more interactive/community/group activities. By making Cosmic Exploration individual progression, they are leaning the opposite way and more towards Tribes/Island Sanctuary/solo-content. It removes the group aspect of the MMO again and it takes away the reward knowing it is just me experiencing the change and not with others. I really want the feeling of working together and there basically being a huge progress bar the entire community is working on together and I wish they would lean into that. The content can still be loved after, like I do with Ishgardian Restoration and I know I'm not the only one. Additionally, I think there is a strong desire for the community to help the 'in-game NPC community' together. We want to help make the world a better place and do it together.

Please give us this community goal of helping the in-game world. It will help build the community and MMO aspect of the game. Let's strive together, not alone.

island sanctuary with other sounds great, but i am also against ishgard restoration because i never liked it, so if this does closer to island sanctuary but alittle different and with others it sounds like a good improvement to me.

I'm glad to hear it's going to be personal progression. The problem with Ishgard Restoration was that a handful of people no-lifing it on a server would progress things for the *entire* server. So you're at work and find you've completely missed even getting to participate in this or that or see this phase or that one. Not to mention how cross-world people had to get locked out of the zones because they kept server hopping to do other server's events. It's a good idea that we get to do lifestyle content at our own pace and receive the rewards for our efforts.

I wish I had been able to join Ishgard Restoration more. I don't think they need to worry about fear of missing out; I think some areas being inaccessible until certain future patches in 7.x makes more sense at least. Honestly even extending it to all Disciple types to give us a Bozja-type experience on certain planets or areas ... It's asking a lot but this is what I would like

If Cosmic Exploration is taking inspiration from Ishgardian Restoration the "EXPANDED CONTENT OFFERING" of Dawntrail is going to be a laughable joke. Say hello to Doman reconstruction 2.0.

Maybe they fired all the employees who gave us Baldesion Arsenal and Delubrum Reginae and they were replaced with employees giving us Island Sanctuary.

Every post your infinite accounts make is a laughable joke. I guess when you have so many because of RMT, you really don't care how you are perceived here, because you can just start a new forum alt any day of the week.


Also, they already said they are working on another exploratory zone.

I want to give an alternate perspective as someone who was around for Ishgardian Restoration and also ranked high enough to get Saint of the Firmament:

I would like to see something similar to IR happen again but I do not think it should involve rankings or limited time achievements/titles due to the state of plugin use in the community. If you aren't aware, during each phase of IR there was a ranking competition with achievements and titles locked behind reaching certain point thresholds/ranks. You only had the one chance to get them and if you missed out, sucks to suck. This created an extremely unhealthy lifestyle for the duration of each phase for those who chose to push for the titles, I personally only slept around 4-5 hours each day and only managed to clench the last spot for Saint by a handful of crafts or less in the final phase. Not to mention that we were also competing against people running autocraft plugins/gathering bots so you *had* to basically dedicate your entire day to the grind to even stand a chance. Keep in mind, this is when plugin use was much much much less common than it is now.

If the same were to happen now, anyone not running plugins would have 0 chance of making it into a title spot. It is too easy now to auto everything involved in crafting since there are plugins that will automatically solve a craft for you. You don't need a macro, you just need to know how to push the buttons it tells you. This is confirmed to work on experts. The same can be said for gathering and how cheap it is to rent a bot for a few days. If that means it has to be a solo activity, then I personally would support that over any other option.

I want everyone to experience IR-esque activities but I want it to be actually enjoyable for everyone involved and not a competition of who can no life the hardest again/leave their PC running with a bot/autocrafter running the longest. I also would like to not see anyone sacrifice days for a painful grind that felt very similar to the old placard spam we used to have with housing. It felt like if you took a break, you'd lose your spot. As I said, I barely got my title and I was dedicating my life to it.

I'm glad its personal progression, i liked ishgard restoration but i think it'd take me out of the world if quests are talking about restoring ishgard but its already fully restored without my input because i wasn't playing for it

You didn't miss much, but I must concede your point- I ended up talking to a lot of the more "no-lifer" crafters as we grinded a spot in the top 10 together. I think last time I had that experience was in Bozja (I was grinding a lot there and people recognized each other and there was a lot of funny banter when we went together into CLL or Dalriada). Players really do come together in events like this. No exploratory zone in EW really hampered this feeling of community.
I also think if people remove the whole leaderboard aspect (and just give rewards for participating, kinda like the Moogle stickers but for a time period where it's realistic that everyone gets their rewards), then the experience becomes much more fun.

My only request is that they do not bring back the ranking. It sounded like a good and fun idea on paper, but in practice it ended up going too far... The people who put in the most time were the people who would win and that encouraged a lot of unhealthy behaviors. The fear of missing out on an achievement or title made it even worse. I think overall it did more harm than good.

The rankings shouldn't come back as long as they continue to be as inept as they are at handling cheaters who just leave bots running all day/night to gather/spam crafts.
