I'm not sure if we already had one of these threads but if we did I missed it.
I'm curious to see how people feel about Picto from what we have seen so far, going from your thoughts on the RP aspect of Job fantasy and aesthetics to how you feel about the gameplay we have seen and how interested you are to explore it.

My opinion:
I know this is relatively unpopular but I like the aesthetics, Summoner and Black Mage are both Dark magic themed while Red Mage is thematically about the balance of both Dark and Light magic. I think having a light hearted and whimsical caster is a breath of fresh air especially with how Reaper was another Dark magic sort of Job. I do think the animations are a bit too much though but beggars can't be choosers.
Im interested to see how the filler combo and your Job gauge and Muses will interact and how you will have to manage them, especially with how Muses have long cast times to activate them having this Job be the only job in the game with forced downtime.
While I like BLMs long cast times its evident that most magical dps players prefer the movement options both RDM and SMN have so I think the compromise of having to have a long cast then a bunch of instant casts is a middle ground I appreciate.
The only thing im not a fan of so far is the 500 potency heal, I think Picto having a raidbuff is fine enough for utility.

I like the sounds, effects, juggling of 2 systems with gauge and sketch and a good deal of deviation at high level between when to Holy and when not to Holy as well as setting up big bursts with Hammer and Moogle. The brush also doubles as a Magic Wand which is really cool.
Probably the most interesting job class to play around with. You'll always be doing something whether it's hardcasting or prepping for big damage. -

I know that media tour potencies aren’t final but has anyone noticed that the AOE potencies are like hilariously weak
The RGB combo alone is barely neutral on FIVE enemies
I have to imagine that’s an oversight no matter how strong the AOE falloff from the muses is -

Thematicly do i like the Pictomancer.
He is the only Magic user whe have, who looks like to be able to use his magic to entertain the people. Or, to learn it for fun.
Healers are ether military commander (Scholar), prophets (Astro), Doctors (Sage) or some form of priest (Druids/white mage).
The caster are priest of the dead cult (Thraumaturges -priest who work with and prepare the dead-, who looks to much in the abyss and are alölways "dark") or are fighter, who learn there stuff to hurt others (Black mage, Red mage, Summoner/Hermetiker). And can use there magic only in a small way for slice of life things (like, casting fire for cocking). They are the craft of people, who desire power for what ever reason.
Pictomancer by other hand looks to be a school, that you can learn completly for the entertainment of others (like dancer). Or, because you are allready a artist and want to give life to your pictures.
I even complain, why the Pictomancer didnt start in Uldah. In my scenario, would they start in Uldah, directly by the Thraumaturg guild, where the Pictomancer make trouble for the people, who losed someone ()nd to make the Thraumaturg angry), by creating Pictures and try, to bring fun to the mourning people. Similary like Kiere is it doing in the DT trailer.
And because of that happy attitude of them, are they the caster, who are the least compatible with me. They are to bright and i like the darkness of black mage more.^^
From gameplay aspect:
They look nice. Maybe, there is some critic with the choicen pictures, that you can summon (why must it be mogry?^^), But, i understand the,easier, as i did it with the viper. And didnt saw anything yet, that i practiculary disliked.
What im curious is now, how the weapons for them will look. And if there will be now more caster outfits, who are created more on for Pictomancer look. Instand of wizard look. -

Honestly, I really like it, PCT genuinely looks like it could be a really fun job to play compared to other jobs.
I’ve heard of it being comparable to ShB SMN, with the motifs being like Egi assaults, something you don’t want to overcap. There being something you need to build for burst like Ruin IV with the Canvases. The overall rotation is very free form to, RGBW paints being good for movement and MYCB paints being your hard hitting spells you need to do something special to use. All in all, if it’s gonna be as fun to play as it looks like its gonna be great, and if there’s gonna be more of this type of job building for the other jobs in 8.0 then I’d be genuinely excited. The game needs more for the jobs -

One other thing I am worried about from what we have seen so far that during that big buff window (Falling star I think?) there seems to be a very tight window for the spells you have to use. I don't mind it having a busy burst but if the filler casts balancing muse gameplay is as open as it seems that could make the burst an annoying forced break from the play style.
Ah good point bringing up PvP, it will be real interesting to see if the forced downtime is implemented into the PvP toolkit too.Quote:

Everything about it seems really cool (well, minus aoe potencies apparently). Love the goofy aesthetic, I think the effects look great, and the kit seems like it's going to be fairly interesting and not really play like the other casters. Definitely more impressed with it than viper.

PCT is the job I’m most excited to play in Dawntrail… I loved FF6 and Relm, and I love what I’ve seen from all the media tour videos so far. The effects definitely seem more polished than what we saw initially; there’s a lot more sparkle to them. Plus it has a full elemental spell kit, and Star Prism! I think it’s going to feel really fresh and unique from the other casters, and I can’t wait to see how it feels to play.
