Wow Refugees chose Hrothgar or Elezen?

Doing this for square enix's sake. Been wanting to know for years if Wow players chose Elezen or Hrothgar?

It seems to me a a lot of Wow refugees went Elezen; which goes against those in the marketing department who would think "monster races" like Hrothgar would be the attraction for such players.

WoW player here, but I don't consider myself a "refugee", as I am still an active player of WoW. I play a Hrothgar in FFXIV, and my most commonly played characters in WoW are Worgen.

I'm not a refugee as I've played FF14 since Heavensward and WoW since vanilla and just play both games. But I can confirm I will be going female hrothgar when they drop. My favorite WoW races are mag'har orcs, zandalari trolls, tauren, and vulpera. So yeah, it checks out that I'd be excited for a race that isn't just normal human in FF14.

i started WoW during TBC era and quit during BFA iam also a FF14 1.0 player my favorite race in WoW was nightelf and my favorite race in 14 is female midlander

iam not a refugee though so i doubt my opinion counts

Femroe, male Hrothgar, male Elezen, female Elezen, female Hrothgar. So both I guess.

It all disproves the idea that most would shoehorn themselves to "wow-looking races." Very interesting outcome indeed!

On WoW I mostly played female tauren since vanilla (but if there was a big cat race I'd be playing that instead). I didn't want to play ffxiv for a long time, because the races seemed samey and bland to me (particularly for the female options) and especially after the announcement of male hrothgar - but no female ones for a long time - I was VERY upset and refused to play the game on principle. I only gave ffxiv a real chance last year and I've mostly been playing female miqo and femroe. Miqo has the feline features that I enjoy, but not the strong physique I desire, whereas femroe has the better physique but looks too human for my liking. Needless to say I will fanta to femhroth the second it's out and never look back.

I guess this goes against the point you're trying to make with this thread, but I can't help it, I'm a stereotypical WoW player and I want to play a big beast character *shrugs*

From a blue goat to a blue Elezen. Technically not a refugee though.

I played WoW from Vanilla to BFA! I had played FFXIV during the early patches of ARR, but it didn't stick me to it then. I came back because BFA was so terrible of a game. As you can see, I'm a long eared kinda man!

I chose Roe (no, he's not, or ever was green) and made a Hroth alt the moment they came out.

This one has also enjoyed a tenth anniversary as a Night Elf/Blood Elf (different races, different classes: it's the WoW way).

What can I say? I enjoy player races with pointy ears, but not the shorter races with pointy ears as my battle perspective gets thrown way off.

Ironically I'd play a goblin if I ever gave Wow a chance. Wow goblins are damn cool haha.

Considering the WoW focus on racial abilities, I wonder if there's any WoW refugees that chose Hrothgar for their stats. They're the only race with both max HP and STR, so they're theoretically the best melee.

Of course, racial stats in XIV are basically meaningless. But "which race is the best stats" is a question I've seen around from new players, and if nobody's told that it doesn't matter, I could see them looking it up and assuming they should just go hroth.

I came over during tail end of stormblood and played an undead in WoW. I picked au ra for my player character not because of it being edgy or being super attracted to the aethetics but because I have family ties to mongolia. I've been wanting a fresh start so I'll be fanta-ing to femhroth when they release.

Elezen of course! Because if you choose Hrothgar then you are a furry. And being a furry means, you still miss your Vulpera character.

I did look at that expecting Something different once i didnt see any racial abilities i looked to a video and it said this difference is miniscule so here I am short one

Back in vanilla the Horde side was struggling cause people would rather play humans and nightelves on the Alliance side. So they added the blood elves to the Horde to balance things, and it ended up becoming the most popular race. And before blood elves, the scrawny undead were the most popular on Horde side, not tauren or orcs.

Now as I've said earlier, personally I was mainly playing female tauren and I will be fantaing to femhroth, BUT statistically the majority of WoW players also prefer pretty characters.

I don't know, WoW has like 4 elf races plus humans and those are the most popular in their respective categories like you said. The runners up are orcs and draenei which are mostly human like Viera, Au Ra or Miqo'te.

I haven't regularly played WoW since 2014 and it wasn't my first MMO so I don't consider myself a refugee necessarily. But my main races there were undead and blood elf and dwarf and here I'm a Highlander. But I also have alts the way I did in WoW so I do other races here, too.

It's still wild how much blood elves effected the undead population. I was talking to some guildies the other day and we all realized we don't run into undead anymore. They were THE race to play on the horde back in vanilla but at least on my server they've been pretty rare.

I've been playing since the closed beta, and I still occasionally play Wow, and I chose Human. Also, I find the term "refugee" hilarious. Like having a bad game, you leave is on the same level as being an actual refugee. It's such a first world thing to say. It's so moronic. Metaphor aside. It makes me laugh whenever I hear it. Oh the horror Shadowlands sucked!

Normies are unremarkable, so people don't remark on them. You have to be weird to make a lasting impression.

Keep in mind that Hrothgar and Viera are limited races that will not have full access to headgear glams, or full use of the upcoming hat+glasses glam system. This is a probably a permanent limitation that the developers are never going to address.

I was a Forsaken main last time I played WoW (and enjoyed it. Shadowlands and Battle for Azeroth didn't count.)
Bit disappointing that there wasn't an equivalent to the undead, but I see why they couldn't do that. So I just made a Duskwight, and threw some scars and a blood-stain looking face paint.

When did they say that? The beast race addition was from a poll they did all the way back in the 1.x era, like 12 years ago.
The poll showed that the kind of races people wanted the most was first human/animal hybrid (which was kinda skewed from using Viera as an example) and beast race second.

Which align with what they added since then, first they added Au Ra and people went "why no Viera though!!?! that's what the poll said!!" To which Yoshida replied that he didn't want to just add a race from another FF. After being asked again and again they finally gave up and decided to compromise, they added female Viera from FFXII for the people endlessly begging for it and male Hrothgar for the people still waiting on the beast race. Which lead to pandemonium forcing them to add the gender counterpart of each race.

The race discussion came up way before FFXIV could stand as a serious competitor to WOW.

Not sure why you think a "wow player" would choose one or the other lol. There is plenty of different races in WoW, including beast races like Tauren and elves.

For reference, I have played Miqote for most of the time I've played FFXIV and now I'm playing a Hyur.

P.S. Most people in both games play the "cutesy" races, Nightelf or Bloodelf in WoW, Miqote or Au ra in FFXIV.
