hello ^^ anyone know if there going to be a summer event & if there is when would it be starting? ^^

Yes there will most definitely be one.

We don't know when yet, but at this point I would bet on it activating when 1.23 comes out.

If so, it's going to be sort of funny to see the world more or less ending before our eyes while meanwhile, everyone is happily running around doing errands in order to earn all of their summer outfits. :p

No one knows what they plan to do but we do know it won't be any new type of underwear as they said they have no plans for adding any in the next patch.

Sawry, really excited. And now im really sad. Dont they usualyy just use the same event over again most of the time?

If it is any thing like this years easter event. then there is a high possibility that last years swimsuits will be obtainable.

We had really wanted to provide the wallpapers that were so popular last year as well, but the development team is crunching really hard on version 2.0 preparations and had to put it off. Next year we are planning to do what we did for our previous event, so please look forward to this upcoming one as well as the future!

What is so hard about releasing last years items? You did it with the easter event! This is quite disturbing. This is just laziness! If I had known then that you would be pulling this "you can't get it later" crap I would have actually logged on last summer just to get the item during that god awful F2P era.

Not to mention all the HIGH demand for the return of these items across ALL the forums! You need to at least be more detailed in the future about the availability of these items. Otherwise you are misleading.

Yeah seriously...there was a really long thread of people wanting these. Is it really that hard to let us buy them from NPC or incorporate them like how you did with the Easter event? SE is frustrating me more and more lately. Well...good work. Yes...I mad.

So the real complaint here is not laziness, but the fact you refused to play to get it then and now you want it because you feel the game is worth playing? lol.

It's not hard to give an NPC the ability to dispense it, however that wasn't the plan they went with and we learned last year that this year there won't be swimsuits but Yukata/Kimono(both were mentioned but I recall Yukata being the confirmed one.)

This really isn't as big of a deal as you are making it out to be, they may release the old rewards in a future event judging by FFXI's numerous summer events, but even if they don't it's really not some huge miscarriage of justice. Calm the hell down

She does have a point though...it's not that big of a deal especially since we had prior knowledge (for over a year) that there won't be a return of swimsuits and potentially a swimsuit recipe if at all and it wouldn't even be the ones from the event.

Nice to see it is still coming and as far as older event stuff goes I am not gonna go down that road as this is the one thing that pisses me off about this game and I have been vocal about it several times.

Not the case for everyone I couldn't obtain two of them due to PC issues and to me they are valuable items I would like and enjoy. As a supporter of this game since launch I would like the opportunity to aquire them again even if its more of a task. No reason they cannot put them in GC as rewards fore seals or something you have to earn.

Well its too bad I guess. I just wasnt aware that they discontinued the swimming gear. Doesnt make a whole lot of sense to me... If people currently playing the game really want to wear swimming gear, and feel it would keep them playing the game, in some small way, you would think SE would want to pump the swimsuits out.

They might also think maybe such interesting gear ideas will drum up some curiosity from nonplayers.

Yeah it wasn't "discontinued" perse, it was mostly they didn't have plans on reintroducing it for this year. Even if they followed in XI's example, they usually introduced a new event item while selling the previous years item if it was the same event.

It wasn't until later did they allow you buy all event items during the specific events, i.e halloween you could buy the pumpkin heads and laterns during halloween and xmas stuff during xmas. The game is still only 2 years and with easter event it made sense considering it was essentially the same event. This year, unless it is the Firefall event again, it makes sense that it doesn't dispense the old swimsuits.

If it is the FF event again, then we'd just simply have to wait till next summer lol.

At first I was supportive of them rereleasing last year's summer event items, at least in a limited way, but after reading Kerwin's post I'm absolutely thrilled that the bikinis won't be available.

You couldn't be bothered to log in during the event, which is laziness on your part. It's an event. You should expect all event items to be a one-time thing only.

I apologize to all my friends who did miss out on the last year's event for legitimate reasons, and to those who wanted them but weren't children about it.

You pay, but you're not entitled to swimsuits. Your logic fails. Events by nature are a limited time item; if you don't get it at the time the event is live, it is your loss.

It's like a beer company offering a limited time seasonal flavor, and you not buying any; then the next summer comes around and you get mad when they don't offer the same flavor.

Be happy that we're getting a summer event at all! Same drink, just a different flavor.

(For those that missed the event due to other circumstances besides not choosing to be there when it was going on: ) Boo, it sucks, get over it. I missed three other events last year, but you don't see me bitching about it.

The swimsuits were around last summer when the game was still in it's FREE PERIOD.

Be happy that you're getting Yukata this year, something the post 2.0 players won't be getting.
Let's forget that we got a discount FOREVER, a Goobbue mount no longer available to the public, and a chocobo just for being on Legacy status nope! not as good as getting a swimsuit!

Screw your discounts and free mounts no one else is getting!

Im rather dissapointed myself. I had gotten the swimsuits from last year, but i also wound up moving to another server instead, which means i can't obtain them now. I'm really hoping they change their minds and offer them to be bought via npc or something. :/

For me it's more about enjoyment of the items. This is pretty much the only game I play and I am heavily invested in it and have invested alot of time to it. I am also very big on community stuff as alot of people are this game just isn't about grinding to the end for me. I enjoy things like LS events and group stuff which include pictures or anything like that. It just really bothers me that sometimes because of missing gear I cannot participate in such things and because of a reason that was out of my hands at the time.

I've stuck through the worst of times with this game, gladly pay and enjoy the game, Legacy memebr and all that like many others and for me the lack of these items is a big loss of enjoyment for me. I dunno I would not ask to just be given them but I would have no problem earning them in some way. Hell I'd take the missing gear over the exclusive Legacy mount in 2.0 at this point.I know alot of people won't see it that way and give the old too bad speech but I guess it's fine if you have it atleast.

huh.. I would actually say a Yukata is cooler than some undergarments as you can probably see more detail on them, etc.
And to call them lazy for doing this instead of last years thing is real irony, I'm sure this event took more work as a bikini is much easier to design than a full yukata, surely

Yukata is so weeaboo :/ Swimsuit is at least a universal item that all cultures can appreciate...I better stfu before I cause fighting, etc lol cuz it not my intention. But you get my point...I think! :o I liked the swimsuit so much I made a cosplay of it ;~;

I guess if the Yukata is anything like Maya's in Tenjou Tenge that would be kinda neat...

The whole point of thew Bikinis was to entice players to come back and play the game they made a interactive event as opposed to the bell ringing rubbish we had before that. If you didnt think they were worth logging in for while it was free to play then its your own fault in my opinion. I think they will definitely re release them another time. Nobody will be wearing them anyways when this new event comes. Id be happy to sell some of mine i only wear the red one if people really want them so badly is there anything wrong with me making stupid amounts of Gil along the way? take away the untradable please :D

Oh I thought it was worth logging in...but I had to travel to take care of very important RL things so was unable to. LOL and it just so happened to be on the exact dates of last years summer event..I remember I was so mad and kept saying THEY BETTER LET ME BUY THEM NEXT YEAR!!! :X

That's not so much a yukata. It's a child-sized gi that forgot to grow up with Maya's body. Just like her hakama. >.>;

I was going to add that to the end about people who were unable to log in for those reasons and i agree there. As i said i think its only a matter of time before they get released again. Im surere they made a point of them being exlusive which is why im not surprised they aren't available this year. A bit like the Goobue that finishes up soon too.
