Materia Meld Question

Can you not put up a request more than once to meld materia? I am looking to get at least a double meld on some gear but I am not being allowed to put up a request for it.

Am I only able to add more materia if I do it myself?

You could trade it to people who can do it...?

But yeah, currently the Materia request only works on single meld items only :|

Thanks. I'll wait and trade it to someone I trust before I attempt a double. Too bad no one in my shell has high level DoHs.

Which crafts do you need? :)

I'm guessing either A: They want double melding to require a bit more work, or B: The system they use for such requests can't easily handle the chance for breaking.

Could be because meld chance is affected by melder level. You'd want a L50 when trying to double meld in all cases for maximum chance, but few items actually are level 50, so you'd be potentially reducing your chances having a random L49 ARM try to meld a second Bloodthirst IV on your Cobalt Cuirass as opposed to an L50 you know.

So someone can't randomly blow up your meld requests while you're AFK and you come back and cry over the shards of that Nth Mailbreaker +1.

Level doesn't affect meld rate. Currently, nothing the player can do or equip affects meld rates.

That would make sense, if you had some degree of control over it. The percentage never changes.

Is there, like, an agreed upon spot in Ul'dah to park yourself if you're waiting around for a random meld and don't have a convenient pal to just trade it to...?

Not as far as I know. I think this sort of question may be better suited to your world's forums, as it's sure to vary from server to server.

On Masamune, most of Ul'dah near the Aetheryte Plaza is far too crowded to guarantee that you'll be seen, so I'd recommend places that high-level crafters frequent, but where the 40-character render limit won't hide you. Places that come to mind are the side entrance to the adventurer's guild and the Ul'dah Mercantile House in any city, but particularly in Ul'dah itself.
