Fabul's definitely one of the least populated servers. I hope we don't get the axe (merged) but it may be inevitable at this rate.
It has been very, very quiet lately. ^^;
I'm usually the only person online in all 4 of my Linkshells now D:
I know the feeling. I have two 100+ person linkshells aaaaall to myself ;_;
I'm glad we have a place to meet and chat now though, nice to see everyone! :)
Hi there! I'm in Fabul also. I logged in the other day after a couple months being gone and it was a ghost town!
Err....Fabul is hardly a ghost town. O_o Least of all during Japanese primetime. Yes, people are becoming inactive, this is rather obvious when you've been marking people and watching their activity >_> But it's hardly a ghost town if you are looking.
It's a shame that people have quiet/inactive linkshells, you could always check us out if you wanted, as long as you are active players :)
There are always plenty of people on when I play. Although I will admit that it does appear to be more quiet than at release.
If anything, when Square Enix release a player Census, Fabul will be in the top 3 heavy populated servers.
lol I don't know about top 3, but I certainly don't have trouble finding plenty of players online at any given time. It seems like most of the deserters left in 2010, and that the drop off rate has been shrinking since. Sure, my first LS is abandoned, but there are plenty of friendly and open LSs that will make you feel like Fabul is full and active ^^
bai jet! lol :) hey everyone else.. yes fabul is one of the smallest worlds in the game. but thats the best way to make friends all around ^^b
Veltaine is my surname, Gennario or Silverance is how youll find me, i hope to meet many new ppl within our linkshell and outside.. im more of a crafter than anything else. lets be friends !! haha
Nooo gen you're bad to befriend haha jk.
Yeah i still find people on alot (or zombies), just seems mostly players have migrated to Ul'dah for the most part.
We should start recruiting players to the server XD.
Well, hopefully SE will do something smart like give bonus SP for people starting out on Fabul as an incentive.
That would hurt our reputation in the long run.
Well, perhaps I can only speak for myself, but if you started a character on a server where it was easier to gain sp, I would consider you less of a player, because you're doin it on easy mode. You joined the baby server, for babies. You don't have what it takes to keep up with the big guns like on normal servers. If one server made it easier to gain sp, I would definitely join a different server.
Also, it would really mess up the sp competitions that happen cross-server.
Perhaps I am ^^
I rather enjoy the quiet servers myself. I personally will cry if they force us to merge. I hated that when they did that on 11. Mind you I don't think they'll think about doing merges until after they have fixed everything and ps3 has gone live.
When you could view server population, some weeknights were around 600 =p
The reason I mentioned Fabul possibly being one of the least populated worlds is due to the way that servers are listed on the character creation server. It appears (to me at least) that they are sorted by population, as the chocobo icons go in ascending order. Last bunch of times I checked, Fabul is one of the three or four "one chocobo" servers at the top of the list. It's been there for quite a while.
Regardless, an important question is whether the list is sorted by people currently online or the number of characters registered on the server. There are many different implications about our standing depending on which is used.
Now, I'm not saying that being on a low population server is a bad thing. In fact it can be good in many ways. I'm simply afraid that Square won't be sharing that opinion when they start making the "big" decisions about this subject.
Fabul's small(er) population was one of the things that attracted me to this server in the first place. It's easier to make a name for yourself when there aren't as many other people all doing the same thing.
Also, I think we're all looking at this the wrong way. rather than saying ours is one of the three least populated servers why not say that we're one of the top 18 most populated worlds?

Truth be told Fabuls low population is what drew us (my partner and I) to the server. However since the games mass player exodus Fabul has seemed to suffer in particular. I don't care so much for making a name for myself as I do seeing another living soul on two legs in the game as I run through the digital wastelands between cities.
That said I am more of a the cup is half full rather than half empty kinda guy and do believe the game will certainly be saved sooner or later. I just think (as aforementioned) giving some kind of migratory incentive to have new players strap on Fabulian made adventuring boots would be a good idea in the long run. Little advertising never hurts anyone. :)
Anyone having trouble finding people to play with on Fabul should take a peek at the Abaddon recruiting thread. We're extremely active (especially during US and EU prime time)
New interesting interview up on the core forums if anyone is interested
at least the other threads were relatively on topic, your post is just spam
I also chose Fabul for low population and I don't regret it at all. There's no serious drama; people aren't trying to monopolize NMs; good level up spots are frequently available; etc. I know the M stands for Massively but I feel a better sense of community being able to know a larger percentage of the people I see around me.
Thats ptretty much why we chose it too. There would be more to share. The only thing is (speaking for me) it just seems so barren out there now. I'm not talking about in the sense of LSes (because there are people in them) but in just seeing another living soul as you move from point A to point B.
You basically have to go to Ul Duh for that lol.
I've noticed a decrease in players, but it isn't surprising. I'm also a bit disheartened that nearly a portion of my shell mates have suddenly stopped logging on. Real life obligations, issues, and whatnot can and do pop up - understandable - but nonetheless, as I've already said: disheartening. As of now I am patiently awaiting the PS3 launch just so we can see a fresh set of new faces and names.
When ever i go on. There are not very many people on.... Kinda depressing.
I did the same as well stuck to a small server, joined a linkshell met some cool people. There really is no competition or drama between players, basically Fabul is like Cheers.. Everybody knows your name and they're always glad you came.. alot of people have left but for the most part I didn't even know them hah hah ha

dannie, i couldnt have said it better myself ;)
I enjoy the smaller servers. I enjoy smaller everythings. <50 LS sizes, small but friendly communities.. It creates that sense OF community.
I get it from FFXI where I crave my old LS.
We were a small group of maybe 16 daily players... we wern't "hardcore" but we did quest daily.. and when I say quest I don't mean we did quests (obviously quests aren't all that abundant in FFXI like they are in other MMOs) but we as a group had objectives to get this AF armour piece, or kill this NM, complete that mission, get this job, or craft that item. And as a group we'd hit the road trecking together with light RP (we made heavy use of emotes, and really didn't talk much about real world things. We each had our roles in the group.. we weren't a heavy RP LS by any means we just played the game to it's fullest)... We were in no rush to reach the end game. Over the two years our LS was together, most of us didn't get more than 1 job capped but every day we played together was FUN..
And it wasn't that all 16 of us were all together all the time... Me and my Taru Taru partner in crime did our own thing a lot, while the rest of the group had their own little parties they were seperate into. But we were all a family none the less.
I miss them.. I miss that experience.. I want that small dedicated LS again who's focus isn't Raiding or Leveling or Roleplaying but simply PLAYING the game SE has blessed us with...
/end sappy monologue
We were a family and we had other LS alliances we interacted with and it was probably the best MMO experience I ever had. The experience
With that said....I feel the players who are in the same Guild or Group should not be restricted to Raiding all the time. Games like WOW and Rift have that style. This Game has it's own uniqueness in gameplay It takes a person with great patience to skill up trades and get materials for crafting. I think there is a mature contingent of players who have that patience. Also this in this game you can join any group with the Linkshell which gives you (the player) freedom of choice. I like my freedom in life and in gameplay. But if I'm in Guild/Group, I give my all to help others.
