Don't you?
I have this really good vibe about the upcoming 2.0 release and I wish I had a chance to shake his hand and buy him a beer for all the hard work he has done. Same goes for the FFXIV dev team. Wonder what kind of beer Yoshida likes.

What if he doesn't drink?
So far we know h is fuled on smokes and coffee. I wonder if he smokes Marlboros...
He'll drink that beer and he'll like it!
usually people who smoke drink beer, they go so well together :)
I remember that one photo of him on Zam's website where he looked like he hadn't slept in maybe 10 days. He has been working his ass off. :)
Friendly reminder: High expectations will lead to disappointment.
Keep it real.
See how it is when it comes.
He needs a whole week off.
after the original release......

We'll see 2.0....
DoctorMog, I know its a friendly reminder. but a good vibe is better then no vibe.
I am proud of what they have been doing. Like Denmo, I think its great that they are trying an extra 100% to keep my favorite gaming franchise from ill favor. Wonder what kind of beer these guys would enjoy. Maybe tap into the hard liquor? lol
To be quite honest, he deserves more than just a beer. :p
I'd buy him a pack of cigs and a coffee instead.
The man gets 3-5 hours of sleep a night, travels the world, and is attempting to do something no one has ever done before: revive a failed MMO.
What have you done, lately? (trolled the topic, you win internets?)
Edit:
BTW, this thread in the JP forum has been cheering Yoshi-P on since mid 2011, and has 1200+ posts, all/most of which give Yoshi a hearty pat on the back and wish him good health. It has rarely if ever left the first page.
Meanwhile, we NA twats can't even get to page 3 of a well-wishing topic without inserting some asinine comment like, "pfft I already pay his wages".
GG, dumbasses.
Woah, woah, woah... Sorry for having some respect for the guy. The guy works really hard and the people here respect that. No one here said "the great and powerful Yoshi P" and no one acts like his hard work is "awe inspiring" just admirable and respectable.
Also, this:
weeaboo alert. I'm sorry, I know you sit in your mom basement and wish everyday you were japanese and your girlfriend was a cat girl irl, but in the real world that's the way things are.
Yoshi-P isn't doing anyone any favors. He's getting paid for the work he does, and if he didn't step up to the plate, there are many others who would have. It's not wise to worship a man before he's delivered the deed.
I want to see results before I start praising someone. God forbid.
I do however, wonder if the Japanese don't respond the same way under pressure. And if that is not why they have caved to what they think is "western tastes". IMO western players dont really know what their tastes are, they we're just unimpressed with the quality of FF14 when it released.
I wonder if maybe SE's devs, Yoshi etc. might deal better under a positive supportive environment, instead of under the pressure of a critical player base. But the entire time they we're working on FF14 before and after it was called Rapture, they had their fans behind them, hyped up for something great. If they worked well under premature applause, you would think FF14 wouldn't have been the mess it was at release.
Who knows...
Surpassing/meeting all expectations? You honestly pulled that out of your...
Since he came into a leadership position he has made countless promises of which he has been able to pull off very few. He has made countless changes and those have not always made the game better.
Honestly, stop the whiteknighting for a moment and actually think critically about the changes that have been made so far.
For those who want to see results: Look at how far the game has come so far. I've played since April 2011 and took a break back in February. It has been a night and day difference for me, personally. That shows how much the developers and Yoshi-P have been working. It makes me look forward to 2.0 even more, in fact, because the changes have been for the best from what I've seen.
So, thank you Yoshi-P, for fixing the mess this game was back when I started. Your improvements have been truly amazing.
Poor wording on my part. Should have been my expectations, sorry. But refer to my post above for my thoughts on the changes. While the game is not perfect yet, it is still miles better than it was back when I started, in my opinion.Quote:

I'm sorry, but you're making yourself into a joke. Stop while you're ahead.
Doing a good job? 2.0 isn't out yet, Sparkie. The last time this game got hyped up it released as total trash because of people like you praising the development BEFORE they delivered a finished product. Oh boy, Yoshi-P's team caved in to consumer demands and offered advanced jobs! In a final fantasy game, i bet that was a difficult task to undertake! Everything interesting is "Wait until 2.0" So I'm going to wait. If it turns out to be awesome, then I'll offer to buy him a zima.
Seriously. I may have a small bit of faith in 2.0 for my own personal reasons, but like Tanaka, Yoshida earned respect, no doubt from his own bosses too. Tanaka may have messed up at times, but he was one of the driving forces of many of our childhood games (FF, Seiken Densetsu, Chrono games...Xenogears....)
It's not bad to respect someone, but honestly..I haven't seen a developer do what Yoshida did since I've followed the production of Halo (trying to do something amazing out of nothing.)
if he ever sets foot in Ireland i'll buy him a bottle of whiskey and show him how we do it in Ireland :D
Id get him a case of Sapporo(sp?). I seen those commercials with the dragons and stuff. That biru looks absolutely awesome. I dont drink but the commercials make me want to.
So yea if 2.0 is at least as decent as FF11 was pre-abyssea, Ill western union Yoshi the money for some Sapporo.
Okay, let's ignore the fact that he's been hospitalized 2 times for over working himself and ignore the massive improvements he's made to the current game and let's ignore ALL info we have on 2.0 just so you can say "Well it's not THAT hard."
Also, from your other posts, you need to understand that there is a common conception that Japanese tend to be more respectful to others. It's a culture thing, not a "race" thing. Get that through your head. It's not racist to say Japanese are usually more respectful and any reply you make is always blowing things way out of proportion.
Oh yes, because you've lived in japan before and know all about it. oh, Wait. No. You sit in your moms basement and watch anime/play J-RPG's all day and thing you have a clue what you're talking about. There are cultural differences though, and one that I'm particularly fond of is that in America, respect is given AFTER one achieves something. Not after they've told you they will, and shown your pictures and don't EVERYTHING except actually DO what they said. Until 2.0 comes out, I'm pleased to see the NA population remains objectively critical. Japanese players do too, but you know. I'll let you hold on to your racist dellusions.
*edit*
i know there are words misused and poor grammer but english is my third language so whatever.
True the Japanese are known for their politeness and respectfulness, which a friend of mine experienced while he taught English there. He told me that after awhile you get sick of it and it rubs you the wrong way because its not wholly genuine and more a expected practice.
But at release I understand that the Japanese went bat shit crazy about the state of the game.
I wonder if they truly find the simplistic, dumbed down, still rather buggy state the game is currently in so enjoyable that they would support Yoshi en masse like they apparently are in the Japanese forums. And I wonder if maybe they aren't more susceptible to the effects of hype because of SE's brand in their country as well as a cultural naivete and thats why they are applauding the current state of ff14 and the promises of 2.0.
If 2.0 flops will the Japanese go bat shit crazy again? Will they be even more pissed because they were duped again?
Thats why Im keeping it real untill I play 2.0
I hope for the best, but expect the worst. Its 2012 any other way of living is gonna wear you out.
EDIT: I hadn't read the above post before typing this. And I also apologize if my ignorant pondering offends anyone.
Excuse you but it sounds like -you're- the racist.
You can learn a little bit of "not being offensive" from this guy.
You have a very good point and I respect your opinion Tricksy, but as far as things are concerned he has made the game a lot better and until the game flops we can only cheer him on and hope for success. Although, I am not saying we should not be critical about things and if you look around the forums, people are plenty critical. Especially on the NA boards.
I do believe this is called 'Ad hominem fallacy.' And no one cares about what you do and don't respect. If you want to worship someone before they actually do anything worth worshiping, that is your choice. Also you can give me 1,000 dollars and I'll come shake your hand. Paid in advance only of course.
You're the only one really insulting here, AcaciaTyrannia.
Don't speak on others' behalf.Quote:

We aren't worshiping, we are thanking him for what he's done. Worship would imply it's pretty much a religion. (Correct me if I'm wrong, though! I'm terrible with definitions, I'll admit.)Quote:

No, it's not. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem
You are calling others racist for stating that Japanese are typically more respectful to others because of the culture in Japan and you turn around and say extremely rude and somewhat racist remarks back and I am making note of that.
From the fact that people reply to my posts agreeing with me and press the like button on each post I make says otherwise to your opinion that no one cares. Also, I don't warship him. I stated this before and I will state it again, I respect his work ethic and dedication even if 2.0 flops I will still have my respect for him.
Could a mod please give a warning on this thread to deter all this pointless negativity? This was a positive post until a certain someone decided to derail it.
Until then I'm done arguing with you about MY respect towards Yoshi-P.
You remind me of the people who hyped this game up for months before it's release, then we the myraid of post came flooding in about all the problems it had, you plugged your ears and insulted everyone who disagreed with you, all the while the game died.
It would seem you still have not learned your lesson. That's fine though, 2.0 will either make this game worth the money (Finally...) or provide me with infinite laughs as I watch you weeaboo flood to the forums to flame anyone who complains about it's failure.
I think I was responsible for "derailing". I was just offering a different point of view. Which Acacia was doing as well, if a little vehemently :P I don't think we derailed it. Its all on the same topic.
Whether Yoshi deserves beer. Some say yes right now, some say after we see results.
No reason to warn us or anything. We can't just whiteknight every thread. SE needs to know what all of its player base is thinking.
I am mostly talking about pointing and calling "racism" and insulting people saying they live in their mothers basement and watch anime and play JRPG's all day and other baseless assumptions about the people posting here.
You are fully in line voicing your disagreement with how everyone is speaking towards the matter.
i think this thread need some more Kraken Club's & insane Afros.
