I'm having the same issue. Seems to be a problem with visa debit cards since they updated the mogstation.
I contacted support and they suggested a few things, none of which worked.
Yeah,I've looked at a reddit post saying alot of people are having this issue too.Youd think that they would of fixed this already.
Cant even buy Crysta or a game card online. :(
Has there been mention of any fix for this lately, i'd really just like to make a purchase on the mogstation but suddenly can't. : \
So it just pulled money out of my account for the subscription.
But its unavailable for mogstation purchases.

I worked in tech for years.When SE support finally emailed me a response on the issue,it was a cookie cutter response.Try resetting your router/try using Microsoft edge/try not using wifi on your phone/wait 24HRS after your last attempt.Of course I did all those things.Thing is,people are being told to wait up to 48HRS after their last attempt.Like most people running into this issue right now,we've already been waiting 3days+ or most using a Visa type card.The players need an answer now.

Got my sub back bought Crysta using my amazon account as my debit card is linked too it. Sadly seems to be one of the only methods those who of us who cant pay have for resubbing.
Been struggling the past few days with this problem and needless to say, the support was very unhelpful. I even asked if this is a possible glitch from the recent update they've done but they pretty much avoided answering that question all together.
Would be nice for SE to acknowledge this especially since it's affecting so many players.
Getting a time card off of amazon has done the trick though, but I'm not sure how to get my extra retainers back since I can't use my card at all.
having this problem now... I was trying to add a retainer and I tried unregistering my card and now I cant add it back...
Oh, this just happened to me as well. Can't pay for a sub (had unsubbed and it ran out yesterday, but husband required me to help him with some game stuff, now I can't) because the system won't let me. I'm not going to faff with Crysta, I'm going to keep my money. Oh, well, if it doesn't get fixed by the time of the expansion, I suppose I'm not paying for that either.
EDIT: Have used the husband's credit card, which has worked (my card is a debit card). This isn't the best solution; not everyone has a credit card they can use, but it has worked in my case, at least.
Waited over 24hrs to try my card again,as tech support suggest.Still saying the same thing card is unavailable.This issue has been going on for 4/5 days now.They have yet to say anything on the issue.This is ridiculous.
All of these issues are pretty much guaranteed to be in relation to the payment processor update that went in effect on april 23rd.

The worst part of this is that whole address thing is just really bad on it's own even without all the other issues it has caused over the last few days. If you moved countries since making your FFXIV account and no longer have access to a card with a matching country and address you're just shit out of luck, no card you own in the country you moved to is likely to work for you and that's just insane.
If this is an attempt to do anti-fraud to clamp down on bots it's an extremely primitive and completely useless one because those botters can very easily just buy game time cards or use paysafe while a bunch of legitimate customers get nuked.
This is just unacceptable.
We need to make this a much bigger deal on social media, support isn't going to help you and we need to escalate this until i don't know, yoshida sees this or something. This shit only gets fixed if a big enough stink is made about it.
Oh,I agree with you.Ive seen huge reddit post about this issue.So many people are dealing with card problems,and no way to work around it.Tech support is bit of a joke right now.
So I noticed this when I tried to get a fantasia. All i did was use my PayPal to load the crysta I needed then made the fantasia purchase with that.

I had to use mom's mastercard to even purchase things and will likely have to do for sub since time cards don't include the retainer since support keeps saying to do that. I submitted tickets with others on reddit with the same issue and support hasn't done much
It only won't allow debit visa cards and master american express cards for some reason
On parallel to this issue, i tried to ourchase game time card in SE store and it also blocks me from purchasing anything (even non ffxiv items). Its blocks any address i use on the "billing address portion. I have not managed to select a payment method since April 24. Weird.
What a mess, logged in for a name change and suddenly realized my visa is no longer working here. Same boat as many it seems. Triple checked all my info and it's correct. Amazon pay worked for what I was after but it and PayPal or my card refuse to work for the purchase of crysta or anything else.

I'm having the same issue. Can't use my Visa card, and so I can't log in to the game at all.
Weird how they still have no actual response to this I had purchased the new expansion right before all this went down too, just seems like this should be a high priority you're actually losing alot of money.

72 hours later, still doesn't work.
I realized I had enough crysta for my actual sub - not my sub and my companion app - so I can at least play for the next month, if one retainer down.
I'm begging here SE, fix this? I don't want to have to fight with PayPal for this!
And there are plenty who can't do that or Amazon, we love this game! Please don't take it from us over how we have to pay!

Same Issue as everyone else, with a Visa Debit/CC in North America.
Can't use 'traditional' direct CC/Debit payment. Can't use Amazon Pay. WTF is Crysta? It was before my time and seems to be a whole other can of 'wtf' worms to obtain.
Trying to find 'the right' Contact Us button has never been so irritatingly difficult. Square Enix Store does not support the Mog Station Support Branch. The Mog Station Support Branch wants every ounce of your information before you can actually detail a problem. Then, you must wait a minimum of 48 hours for your silly little email to even be seen?

24 Hours is the difference in keeping your housing situation in this game, after some have spent years trying to obtain your False Scarcity Housing.
So, SE needs to freeze housing demo. Extend the Sale. AND Comp Game Time for every single affected account.
This is the 4th place I've tried to send a message to someone who can do something about the issue. Never have I posted on these forums, until today, for this exact problem.
