What do you want exactly? Just something that will call out a browser from inside the game to be able to access official forums or a brand new in-game board with its own interface?

If you want the first thing, then yes for PS3 users because it would enable them to access forums while playing. For PC players to be honest, this wouldn't be that useful. We "should" (I hope) be able to ALT/TAB properly when 2.0 comes out, so we can simply post in officials forums.

However, if you want a brand new in-game board, that would require a lot of work for SE. It's not only about making a board, but also moderating it, meaning that tools will be needed for Mods/GMs/Reps to be able to act on the in-game board. A proper interface for players will be needed as well (all kind of filters, search and sort features...).

I like that Idea.

In full screen, you have never been able to, you get a direct x failure.

Also I don't think this is necessary, and I remember an interview which said they wouldn't have in game boards like this, that is what the lodestone was for

Yeah, but that Interview was long time ago and with the Changes coming in 2.0 and PS3 Release, its maybe a good addition. I dont mind if its not coming, but its a nice idea indeed.

That's going to cause crazy amounts of congestion in areas that are already heavily congested with users.

If this did get implemented, I could see it maybe being available from our personal houses or inn-rooms.

The only issue are PS3 players however, will they be able to access the PS3 Web Browser with their game currently started? Not sure about that.

May be painful to have to log off/log on every time you want to access Lodestone/Forums. (I know they can have a PC/Smartphone next to their PS3 as well, but I think it's always better if all features can be accessed with one platform).

FFXI has also a Forum and through POL another "Message Board" with Chatrooms and stuff ( has it still i guess? ), so why not in FFXIV?... and dont go like "this is not FFXI".. of course it is not, but Final Fantasy Titles always have Stuff from previous titles in it, so that argument doesnt count.

so? maintaining 2 same-purpose message board in 2 different platform is not cost effective
I rather have SE pour more money to liven this message board

you mean more trash data than we already have on the forums? heeey ohhh

Easy solution: in game web browser.
Not all that hard to implement and it costs SE next to nothing to make and no upkeep costs.
It also helps PS3 players.

Do FFXI have really this ingame? And I mean ingame and not on POL.

I'm talking about forums made for in-game discusstion/requests/recruitment/questions/offers..

Now if you want 2 AF pieces in AV and 1 AF piece in Darkhold, are you going to post about it here? There are many people out there who need them just like you, but you guys just can't reach each other because there isn't a valid way, yeah you can ask in LS, but your LS mates will do it to you as a favor more than doing it because they need it too, while other people are still looking for those AF pieces. With an ingame board, you can let people know that you want to do a run tonight, and if anyone is interested they should reply or /tell you. So later tonight you'll invite the ones who replied and you guys will do your run without favors or long-hours shouts in Uldah.

We were encouraged to think of new ideas for 2.0, and we love to see it more successful, we are doing so.

And don't forget that it's the little things that make the game more enjoyable. (Which might not seem little to other people)

Just like in The Secret World, and it works pretty well in the end. Still, PS3 users aren't diseased afterall: whenever they truly want to discuss on some common message board, what about taking their smartphones/slates and log in the forums to do so? Doesn't sound as a big deal for me, I do this everytime, while I do play on PC - even if I am definitely gonna get stuck with my PS once the game comes out.

Well, I'm not sure people who decide to play on PS3 are on the talkative side - otherwise they could be disappointed... Unless they have some speech-to-text tool, typing with a gamepad using to native visual keyboard is like booooooooring (♪) on a console.

No, i said through POL. But also.. the messages you sent ingame are saved in POL and the messages you sent from POL will be received ingame. Well that is how it worked a couple years ago, no clue if they changed it.

Hehe, I'm not talking of a tool SE should implement - this would be fastidious to address and, in the end, money-wasting, since from what I have seen around the web, such gadgets already exist for PS3 players. But I may be wrong.

Edit: It's a SDK Sony has offered to game devs, so only a few games use it ftm.

I actually remember them saying this quite recently? Anyway I could only see them using this for sort of automated requests, stuff like (I need) x (of this item) (Contact me!) (Reward)

I love this idea! I have often said it would be wonderful if the lodestone were integrated into the game so that players could access it without needing to tab out or log out. Similar to Eve's in game browser.

I made another post somewhere suggesting that the lodestone newspaper posts be accessible in game, maybe from an NPC or the table in the Inn room. Locations like the ones you have here would make sense too. I hope SE picks up on these ideas....

and your examples inspired me to make a few more for the news papers, because I think the ideas work well together both being web based content available in the game in some form:

Hardly, the PS3 has USB-native support. There's no excuse in this day-'n'-age for any PS3 user not to have a keyboard, period. (I'd say the same of Xbox 360 users, but whatever.)

That said, Rina's just being an idiot anyways.
