updating graphics is great but

I honestly would rather keep the old graphics but get modifications to the character design itself.

Make up like eye shadow, should not share a customization slot to facial paint. lip coloration honestly needs more in general, it would also be better to have a "main hand option"

There should scaring options as well, outside of face for example arms, legs back etc. i think it would do alot more for every player in general to change the character design than mess with graphics. Yes glamour is nice and all that however no matter how many sets you have it will always be limited. It would do alot more to change and add to the character design than waste time with graphical changes that are honestly so minor you can't rlly tell much of a difference. Adding things like scaring, giving make up its own tab in character customization and adding in things like body tattoos, piercings etc would honestly be way better than very minor modifications to graphic that are honestly not that diffrent and most people on pc could already have dawntrail graphics with gshader the amount that changed anyways. Things like adding a way to not just have "highlights" but split hair colors aka left purple right black. Modifing the character design itself would honestly be 150x better than minor graphic update

The graphics update is not only, or even mainly, about the characters.
All the graphics in the game is getting an update, with characters only being a small (but highly noticable) part of that.

Gshader doesn’t do that please stop saying silly things, the grass has been replaced with a much higher res version with more variation and their fauna is an engine itself… gshade can’t do that. End of the day the engine needed updating it will allow the devs to be more efficient at their work and also allow them to go even further with their designs it won’t be so minimal anymore it will give them the option to add depth to their work or so I hope anyway.

Ever since Heavensward when we first got to unlock flying I've noticed how bad the maps look when looking at all the textures from a birds view.
I think a graphical update is much needed.

Don't say misinformation to make a point please, that's not an argument, it's an agenda. GSHADE and other programs like it cannot add polygons or increase texture resolution, both sorely needed.

maybe don't fly then and walk and you can see how most zones since hw areas look fine regardless graphical doesnt rlly matter much compared to option to add more character to characters

i understand being uncomfortable to change but this is needless and does nothing to forward any feedback. there is no "go back to old graphics" now, gnies out of the bottle.
Graphic update is happening, actual constructive feedback will be more helpful,

needless posts like this will only drown out actual actionable feedback

Not like I haven't.
Gotta walk to go through all the quests to even unlock flying.

I'm looking forward for the denser fauna with the update.
Walking will feel so much nicer with updated natures.

did i say go back, i didnt i said its nice and all however honestly compared to things that will actrually be useful and benfintioal outside 5 seconds into the game it feeling magical until the open world is made worthless 6 months into it lol. What im saying is it was honestly kind of a stupid choice to focus on graphics when character customization is honestly still kinda limited and bad what im saying is the effort would have been spent better on changing and adding to character customization. more so when lets be honest 99% of the game time is spent in dungeons trails and roulett stuff

If the game, like so many wants it to, to stay alive up and running for many more years to come it will have to keep up with the time.

How many MMOs. 14 years old have you picked up recently, and if not, why so?
What was it that didn't peek your interest in it to begin with?
For many it's the poor graphics after watching videos/images and just by judging from those felt that it's not worth it.

Because "why do x when we should do y, y is better"

also, 90% of npcs use the same feature set players do, and many cutscenes are mid to close up, esp on armor , clothing, and faces.

Most of the casual audiance and marketing are put in the story, its a FF game after all.

so adjusting the models to higher fidelity was a very important consideration.

new and more options are good, of course, but many asstes are from 2002 imported from ff11

change was desperatly needed

the new dlss settings is fixing the shimmering problems i have had on my last 2 pc(1 year) and the new one i got for the expansion had same problem but now it will be gone no more seeing shinny grass and trees than you for the update. with this all my characters look great but i am lala so we are always cute. The gear looks amazing also used coils gear in benchmark

yeah using a lot of older gear next to new things makes it very clear how old something are, made for ps3 limitations.

i wonder how exarchs scene at the end of 5.3 would look under the changes, or if its still extremely pixelated

Well depends how high on the priority list he is because they did say that NPCs and gear wouldn’t all be done in time and will be done in stages through the patch series. So maybe we shall have to wait and see :)

Game definitely needs a graphic overhaul.It looks very dated at this point. People just love to complain. I'm happy to see it. Especially for the landscapes..
