7.0 Graphic Update - Feedback - Male Viera (Face 3) & more to come

This will talk about m!viera face 3, however, I want to go through & make comparisons for other races. I rly wanted a space to compile all of my feedback in one spot. These screens do not have any shaders.

In the above you can really start to see how different the lighting is for 7.0. That being said, we all know that character creation lighting has never been the best. I hope that the lighting improves even further & there will be more definition/distinction in the shadows/highlights. I do really like how smooth the hair looks though.

Extra Comments:
1 & 2: I really believe adding back in some sort of permanent catchlight will improve how lifeless the eyes look. I also really prefer the Current eyeshape. The eye markings on viera also do not look as crisp/sharp in the benchmark, & they look muddy!
3. The eyelashes in the benchmark appear to be entirely gone! That's so sad. I love how we can see them so clearly in the current graphics. I do not know if that is a lighting issue but I hope it will be fixed.
4. The benchmark nose looks wider & the nostrils look a little odd too. The shading on the smudge is also a different shape & not as dynamic. The smudge on the nose is far too dark & harsh.
5. Chin/jaw shape is slightly different. The current chin is more narrow/sharp. I don't like how the benchmark one is so round. The chin also disappears into the neck on the benchmark, which may just be a lighting issue. The space between the bottom lip & chin also looks bigger (again could be lighting.)
6. My biggest upset. The line where the lips meet is so flat. It's lost all of it's shape & personality. The current mouth is so cute & more unique. I loved the cupids bow & inner mouth. The shape was distinct. The bottom lip feels too smooth & has a different shape as well. It feels like all of the bottom lips across all faces & races are the same/very similar & it stinks.

Here is a more in depth traced shot of how the shapes for each face are different/have changed. I really miss the original shapes, especially for the mouth & nose. This is a rough traceover I did myself so it isn't 'perfect' but it's good enough to show the change.

Your viera looks very similar to mine but due to irl stuff I don't have time to do a proper screenshot analysis of him myself unfortunately, so your work and feedback are very much appreciated. You've captured all the concerns I have perfectly and illustrate the issues really well. Here's to hoping some of the collective feedback will be considered by the devs. :(

Wow, the new one looks so much worse. There's almost no shadows and lightning reflections on the skin and hair, it almost makes it look like the hair is glowing, and the chin is super hard to differentiate from the neck. I think the translucency of the skin is up way too high. There's also no brightness in the eyes, they look dead. The new lightning looks good everywhere except for the characters which is arguably the most important part in an mmo...

With all those rich greens I think I'll fantasia into a plant when DT comes around. I always wanted to know what's it like to be a cactuar anyway. They looked pretty nice in the benchmark.
(For clarity bc internet, this is not a jab at the devs, I just saw an opening for a very bad and boring joke and compulsively had to go for it.)

Male viera face 3 went from being one of the most beautiful and exquisite in the game to a flat and lifeless wax doll. Pure downgrade. They need a complete do-over in my opinion.

Thank you so much for saying so T o T ♥ I have several friends who either started on PS4 or still play on a console, so I feel like it's really important to take extra shots especially for them. I feel like a lot of PC players forget about our console brothers and sisters, and they don't have access to the benchmark so they're really just having to go off what others post/show. I also hope they will take into consideration some of our feedback!

I really like these closeup shots!! You can really get in there and tell just how different and sad the new one is. T o T

The weird thing with this face redesign is that there's nothing that can be pointed to as distinctly changed except maybe the nose shape and pattern, and yet overall it seems off. I replicated my character in the benchmark and couldn't express what didn't look right, just that it didn't.

I think the general shadows on the face have been darkened and "drawn on" rather than forming naturally, particularly around the inner cheeks (under the eyes, to the sides of the nose) and top of the chin, and from other angles you can also see additional shadows around the sides of the face.

Newly added dark artificial shadows are also one of my major issues with the benchmark look of male Au Ra face #3, and I need to have a closer look at my other characters to see if it has affected them too. It could certainly be part of the likewise difficult-to-explain issues with my Midlander and Roegadyn, while some others have more tangible issues.

As an admirer of Face 3 Bunbois, this clear downgrade is genuinely gamebreaking for me
