DT Benchmark not launching

Hello.

I tried using the benchmark, but it won't launch :
-The DT splashscreen appear
-A cmd for GraphAdapterDesc.exe appear (empty) and stay for a few seconds
-Nothing
-the GraphAdapterDesc process stay suspended and can't be killed

did reboot/launch as admin ; nothing

My config is probably low for DT, but it still run XIV without issue.
-Windows 10
-ssd
-16Go ram
-Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6300HQ CPU @ 2.30GHz
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M

I know cpu/gpu are low, but at least start the thing or show an error message

It happens the same for me, but my specs are:

- Windows 11 with directx12
- ssd
- 32Gb ram
- 11th gen Intel core i7-11800H @ 2.30Ghz
- Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU (VRAM 8018)

With this I can play quite well Endwalker and goes well into the recommended for Dawntrail but no dice.

I've tried to lower the benchmark settings to the minimum too, redownload the benchmark and reinstall it again, reboot my system... it does the same

edit: I've updated my graphic drivers, made sure to have all my system updates to date and quite frankly I don't know what to do because nothing works

I definitely don't think it's a problem with the CPU

I'm having the same issue with my gaming PC, had tried opening the Benchmark on another PC with a much weaker CPU below the minimum requirements, and while the framerate was at single digits it at least launched and let me make a character, unlike with my gaming PC

I'm having the exact same problem. My PC is a potato, but it runs the current version of the game in high specs, but the benchmark is not loading at all. And it's weird, cuz I remembered that I downloaded the FFXV benchmark once, and it ran. Sure, it didn't had the best results, but at least the benchmark worked.

I really wanted to try the benchmark in my current PC before rushing out to buy a new one, but it's showing to be quite the endeavor :(

I'm having trouble running it too. Though mine seems to be a directx error? "Fatal Directx Error (30000000) for which I've found no solutions. Graphics card is up to date and the system meets the minimum specs.

Same issue.

It's quite potato I think... but at least it still met the minimum requirements for Dawntrail?
A cmd for GraphAdapterDesc.exe will appear and stay for a few seconds with every trying. Trying any ways to launch and still appear the same.
No problem in Endwalker and even playing with highest resolution UI LOL

Edit: Launching as admin did not work on mine. Same as redownload & changing download/extract location & run in Wins7/8 compatibility mode & unset reading mode of every files.

Caused by the outdated graphic drivers.
Download the NVIDIA experience from the NVIDIA official website, use it to check on your graphic driver's version and update it if it's outdated.
Mine potato laptop was able to run the Dawntrail benchmark right after the update. Hope it helps!

Silly as it is, launching as an admin fixed this issue for me. I'd try to launch and it would flash a cmd prompt and the dawntrail logo for a fraction of second, then crash. Launching as Admin made it work for me.

Just wanted to add to the thread as I too am having the same issue. In fact, the benchmark doesn't even launch or give any error message. I double click it and nothing happens.

Already tried downloading it again, runing as admin, updating drivers. Still nothing. Even tried runing the Endwalker benchmark and it also does not execute. Nothing.

The weird thing is that I tried runing it on a notebook with much lower specs and it ran, no issues (of course the results were extremely poor, but at least it ran).

No idea what is going on or how to solve it.

My specs are as follows:

Win 10 64-bit
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
32,0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1199MHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060

Bingo, that got me to having it work... changed properties and I'm good to go.

Just want to add my hat to the benchmark simply not even starting. Even when running as admin. Just get a splash screen, CMD prompt & nothing.

I was having this issue, where I could get the launcher to open fine, but if I tried to open the character creation or run the benchmark, it would load for a moment, show the loading screen, and then just close. Oddly, changing the settings to be in full screen made it work for me finally. It was in windowed mode initially, and windowed fullscreen also did not work.

I was able to run the benchmark fine on my computer, but my boyfriend is having this same issue. The splash screen loads, it opens the GraphAdapterDesc.exe app, and then crashes. When I checked the Event Log Viewer it was indeed this GraphAdapterDesc.exe that was crashing, in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll. Windows 10 and drivers for both his main graphics card and his integrated graphics card are all up to date. Not sure what else to do.

I was having slightly different but similar issues (benchmark would launch and instantly crash) and managed to fix it. I knew my laptop wasn't the best but I was certain it should at least be able to open!!

(for those with nvidia graphics cards)
By checking device manager it said my nvidia driver was up to date and had no updates. I had nvidia geforce experience installed, checked that too, I had previously installed some version of the 'GeForce Game Ready Driver,' and the application said there was a new version of that to download. However every time I tried to install that it said it failed. Figured the application itself might've been outdated so I uninstalled geforce experience and reinstalled it. I was then able to download the newer game ready driver, and from there the dawntrail benchmark launched perfectly!

I suspect my old 'game ready' driver had compatibility issues with the benchmark.

I'm getting a stack overflow when I try to load the benchmark.

I've set the launcher to run as administrator and turned off read-only on the folder it's in and all files inside of it. I have a 4080, an i7-13700F, and 32 GB of RAM, so I doubt it's a performance issue.

The benchmark is also not working for me, currently running with a 3060ti, r5 5600x. and 32gb of RAM. Already tried reinstalling, updating drivers, running as admin, restarting PC, sfc /scannow, no old benchmarks downloaded, changing download location.

I have the exact same errors

I had to uninstall the current version of .net and downgrade to 4.5 to get the launcher GUI to run. I'm pretty sure it's a problem near-unique to my system though, I've never heard of anything else like it.

I downloaded the benchmark on my tablet computer and was able to launch it and the character creator on there. I then copied the extracted folder onto the computer that couldn't launch the benchmark and was finally able to launch it. But now the character creator isn't launching. A black screen will open and then close after a few seconds.

Do you mind sharing step by step how you did that? I think I may be having the same issue with .NET

I'm having the same issue. I've tried updating my graphics drivers, running as administrator, I adjusted the compaatibility settings, etc. None of the usual fixes has worked.

I found this solution on a reddit thread regarding the issue with the Benchmark not launching, and it actually worked for me!

This should fix that:

Run cmd as Administrator

I've got the same error, in the Event Viewer. I've tried to reinstalled .Net throught Control Pannel and .msi from MS. I also tried the "wbem" solution.
Nothing seems to be working.

This worked for me! For anyone else, there's other reddit threads that look like they might have more traction in terms of providing solutions so I'd keep watching those if this doesn't fix it.

edit: Ah, looks like someone else already found out a solution. That didn't work for me unfortunately, so whatever is going on with my computer remains a mystery. I'll leave this here though, just in case.

1. First, you'll want to download the 4.5 installer off Microsoft's website. There's an offline and online version, the offline might be more convenient if you find yourself in a position to experiment with swapping.
2.Then as a precaution, look in your installed programs list and find out what version you're currently using. Get the installer for that too, since obviously if you use any other software using later versions putting 4.5 on is going to make them all stop working.
2a. Make a system restore point of your own for extra paranoia mitigation.
3. Go into Add or Remove Programs, uninstall whatever version of .net you have going. It'll probably take a while.
4. Install 4.5. It will also take a while. No restarts were needed during any of this.
5. Try to run the benchmark. If the launcher GUI starts up now and you can change the settings/etc, yay.
5a. If it doesn't and that wasn't your problem, either system restore back to your old .net, or use the later version installer to upgrade your .net back to where it's supposed to be. You can run that one without uninstalling 4.5 since it's an upgrade. The only reason for the previous uninstall is that .net installers will stop and tell you no if you try to run an earlier one while a more recent version is on your system.

X. If you don't have any version of .net framework installed, well, that would explain your problem.

???. Later versions of .net are supposed to be wholly compatible with applications built for earlier versions, so I have no idea why it's behaving this way.

Hi there, my friends seems to be having a problem too and I am afraid that it might leak into the main game as well (he can't check it right now, he doesn't have the money for a sub at the moment). Thanks ; I was able to solve the problem by updating the following (sorry I can't tell you exactly which solved the issue) :
I did update manually :
-Nvidia drivers
-ZoneAlarm
-misc optional system update (.net runtime was not among them)

My potato was able to breach the 4k in laptop-hi with some margin ; my "current config" got me 2.5k :x

I also crash a few seconds into the benchmark cutscene. I have the following setup:

OS: Windows 11 Home version 23H2 OS build: 22631.3447
Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor 3.70GHz
Installed RAM: 64.0 GB
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT
Driver version: 31.0.24027.1012
Driver date: 3/13/2024
DirectX version: 12

I looked at my Event Viewer when it crashed and saw that the application that was crashing was GameManagerService3.exe which is used for Razer Synapse to manage the games installed on your system. I found this link on Razer's forums to disable the service but it didn't work for me. I'm about to uninstall Razer Synapse and see if the benchmark works but it may affect my peripherals.

I also updated my .NET to 4.8 following these instructions from this reddit post. Instructions are below:

What I had to do was go into the Control Panel, then to Programs and go to Programs and Features.
There you will see Turn Windows features on or off.
Once you click on that a menu will open up where you will see .NET Framework 4.8 Advanced Services as the second item in the list.
Click on the + to the left of it and you will see further options.
Check the box next to ASP.NET 4.8 and click OK.

I tried:
- Run as Admin
- Windows Updates
- Nvidia Upadtes
- wbem solution
- Resintall Net Framework throught control pannel AND Win10ISO

Nothing worked so far.

There is no need to download any .NET Framework on Windows 10+, as its already part of the OS and gets updated via Windows Update automatically.
Otherwise something seriously is wrong with your windows installation.

After uninstalling Razer Synapse I no longer get the GameManagerService3.exe error in Event Viewer after crashing. Instead I'm seeing this error:

While researching this error I saw that it has been happening for several years with no fix except to rollback to Win 10. One suggestion is to update your BIOS and chipset driver which I just did and still crashes.

Next suggestion is to turn off AMD TPM and Global C-states Control in BIOS. I guess AMD and Windows don't work well together or they just don't want to fix this issue...

AMD and Windows work very well together. No need to change such critical BIOS CPU settings for ffxiv to work. Running ffxiv on Ryzen since 2019.
AMD fTPM ist requiered for Windows 11 and some Anti-Cheat...
The GetCACaps Event should to be ignored.

Well I did turn off AMD TPM and my computer worked for a while but NOW I'm getting blue screen with another error in Event Viewer: "The AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the file specified." Looks like there's a conflict between AMDRyzenMasterDriverV20 and AMDRyzenMasterDriverV22 running at the same time. Here are the steps to fix:

Start Run command by pressing Win + R
Type regedit and press Enter
Go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services|AMDRyzenMasterDriverV20
Right Click on AMDRyzenMasterDriverV20 and select Delete
Restart computer

I had the error Faulting application name: GraphAdapterDesc.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x65d711b7 and was able to solve it by downloading GeForce Experience and installing drivers. Hope that helps someone!

Aaaand the updated benchmark crashes like the last one.

I'm starting to worry if both benchmarks don't work maybe neither will the game when gets updated to Dawntrail... dunno what will happen but my pc is WAY over the minimum specs (and over the recommended).

I'm hoping the benchmark is just a bit funky. Might try the .net thing once I've had some sleep, though. No harm in ruling out potential causes.

edit 1: Looks like it didn't fix it, I can check if .NET 4.5 or 4.8 work though. My computer apparently has a (slightly wonky?) install of 4.6

Some people had this issue with the Shadowbringers Benchmark too. It seems to be occured, when multiple GPU are installed (maybe the iGPU and the Discrete) one. Maybe try to select the right GPU in Windows / Game Settings and/or via NVIDIA Control Panel.
