My hopes for Live Letter LXXX

I'm excited for Dawntrial, and everyone around me is. There is so much to look forward too, but we all have more wishes for the developers. Here are my hopes to see from Live Letter LXXX to understand Dawntrial better:

1. More dungeons than 5.

During leveling, what I wish to look forward is instead of 5 dungeons (91, 93, 95, 97, and... 99), we get 7, so there is a trail or a dungeon every leveling level. This makes the excitement much bigger, and you can play combat more oftenly.

2. Warrior of Light talking

Anyone getting goosebumps when the Warrior of Light talked at the end of Shadowbringers? I'm not the only one, I know... Imagine if Warrior of Light can talk again and more oftenly. That would make it more immersive, knowing that... my character is finally talking and not just nodding.

3. Revealing Erenville's love interest

I just have a feeling that Erenville has a love interest, and well know in Dawntrial. I'm ultra ultra excited to know if Erenville maybe likes a man, a woman, or even the Warrior of Light. I can see Erenville totally falling for Warrior of Light, and if so that confirms he is a bisexual, which is the first in Final Fantasy's history (after Dion in FF16, the first gay).

Erenville and WoL, the next couple to be introduced after Golbez and Zero?

4. Beastmaster training pets to follow everywhere

If Beastmaster can train pets that can follow everywhere, like a Companion, that would be cool as Heck. It would be like Chocobo, but with different abilities, like rabbit finding treasure in Eureka. At first, we have 5 pets that can capture by Beastmaster. But each patch adds a new pet. You can then carry the pet to any dungeon or trail, so that they are like a second part of your job for everyone that can Heal, Damage, or even Utility.

5. Deleted guildleve roulette

Guildleve roulette is so disappointing, and each day I find it the most worst roulette to do. (Yes, I have OCD and have to do all) What you do is go in, become a Lv 10 with No Abilities on your hotbar, than kill a gobbue that doesn't threat you any way. At the end you get only 500 XP. They better delete guildleve, and make space for another type of roulette that is more fun, like a Bozja roulette.

Question on the Bi part: Do you mean Eren would be of WoL? I’m not big on FF lore and games outside of 14.

Frankly I’d prefer my character not to be (ie: a decline option) but, and I can’t emphasize this enough, if romance is included in the game for WoL I would definitely prefer options for everyone. If you want your WoL to be gay, bi, or anything else it should be an option.

I’d like dungeons every 2 levels but only make the required ones at, say 81, 84, 88. The reason I say that is selfishly I now live 12 hours away from my server time. The only times I can play the queue is dead… and when I’m asleep they are alive.

Agreed on beast master! Excited to see a pet class. After a decade, as balance impossible as it is, still dreaming of a day where we can see retainers adventure with us.

They don't need to delete Guildleve...

They desperately need to expand on it, IMO.

As much as I would love this, they'd need to record voiced lines in every single voice you could possibly select for your character, and that's a lot of expense for even just one voiced line. They were able to use Ardbert's voice in Shadowbringers and make it work, but there are too many types of potential voices for it to be workable in the long run.

Unfortunately, SE has said they're not going to include romance for the WOL in the game. Their main reasoning for not forcing a love interest on the WOL is that they don't want to force it on the players, which is fully understandable. Even with an optional romancing system, though, they've said that they want to keep creative freedom over the characters and may send them off to far-reaching locations, and they don't want players who may have romanced those characters to become upset when things like that happen. However, you never know if they might include a romance between NPCs. So it may be possible for Erenville to have a love interest in Tural... We'll have to wait and see!

Romance would just be way too messy because too many players have too many headcanons about how their WOL interacts with different characters and there is way way too many options

For example my WOL is married to deryk who I would assume is not high on the list of candidates to be made into a romance option, meanwhile a candidate that would be high on the list- graha, my WOL hates for various reasons related to his past, having the game just randomly have graha confess (even in a side quest) messes up my lore because graha knows my WOL doesn’t like him

I don't have a lot of hopes for the stream, besides maybe seeing some new job defining actions. But let's be real, there's not going to be any of that outside of maybe Warrior or Black mage.

sorry, none of that will be happening. a levelling dungeon every level between 91-99? unnecessary waste of resources.

WOL talking? not a chance.

WOL romance? the WOL is you. they have to stay neutral because a romance can't be forced upon a person if they don't want it.

The game kind of already messes with your headcanon, as there are many scenes where the WOL treats G'raha as an important friend. SE tries to keep a balancing act of making the WOL feel real and fleshed out while also allowing for player freedom of expression, but sometimes they do force things on you, such as your relationships with the Scions and other important characters. You can mentally edit those things out of your headcanons as needed, though.

Personally, I'm in favor of an optional "friendship" system where the players can get to know some of the characters by doing side questlines that delve more into their personal issues. It should be completely optional - no rewards other than simply experiencing the quests - so no one feels forced to deepen their friendship with any character unless they want to. I'd like to see some things bleed into the msq too, such as referring to characters by nicknames they allow you to use if you've done the sidequests (so if you haven't done the sidequest, you use their full name), or maybe an additional dialogue option here and there to show your closeness with the characters if you have done their sidequests. I basically just want to deepen my friendships with them, and have the story reflect it a little bit. They could start with the Scions and add more and more characters as they go along (so maybe characters like Deryk could be included eventually, too).

If Eren fell in love with the WoL he would be Bisexual because the WoL can be girl or boy.

Waste of resources TO YOU! Speak for your own. There is already Romance everywhere in the game, like Golbez and Zero, Ryne and Gaia.

pass on the talking, for the very reason that whatever voice actor they choose.. it will not sound how you want it to.

so.. pass...romance with the WoL? why? we already have that whole puppy dog hero worship from Graha.. we dont need another starry eyed straggler...thank you.

They are Speaking for themselves, as well as others, and also I.

and it isn't entirely cause people hate the idea.

There just isn't enough of multiple things for it.

For voices, if they added that today or in the future, they'd either need to find voices close enough to EVERY SINGLE VOICE TYPE, FOR EVERY SEX, FOR EVERY RACE THE WOL/D CAN BE.

Much easier/simply done, If the game was from scratch, but then you'd have a bunch of VA on Retainer who may/may not be good enough for the job now or later.

And then, like many Open World RPG games out there, the moment the characters gained a voice, it received backlash, cause it clearly limited what the character is.

<Unless the story was never your own characters, but that of the companies.>
Examples being Nate/Nora Fallout IV.

Or how Protags are at times even joked about being Mutes, like in V/Online. (Or how we are Serial Nodders).


Romance for good or ill, just isn't the type of game.
If they had less tech debt, or could of been planed as so from the start.
It would have them implement for many different scenarios, if they are fine with many, none. or if you had expressedly created conflict.
<Which then begins to chafe with the story they plan to make. Hence forth its a Variable that is untenable. More so, since it was never planned atm>

And don't let any of the above feed your interests in these concepts any higher.

We can imagine perfect systems outcomes and etc, but that is ignoring the fact how the effort to implement them into XIV as it is RN is too much to ever ask. When Players rate different wants to different priorities.

If many of us wanted any of these. it would never be on the Mandatory to do list.

Also, Golbez and Zero is just pure Headcannon on your part, at most the two are Allies. They are not even friends, but people with a new mutual goal.
Their bonds may grow, but as far as their tales have ended, they are just allies.
(And you cannot attribute her "holding him accountable" like if it was some lovers whimsy)

Ryne and Gaia while clear reference to other Pairs in FF titles. Is left open enough that players who have not played said titles can infer enough.
Most agree they are, but no one will ever push it explicitly.

Also, another point to before, if there was a Romance option. It would open yet one of multiple pandoras boxes. That would either force them to retcon, or force them to break existing potentials apart. We already know how some feel about Miss Rhul. Let alone how it would shift their focus from the overall, to the idea of the characters relations asides what the story cares for.

Golbez and Zero are classic love at first site story. Remember it Durante asked her to join their group, because he fell for Her the moment he saw her. He was kitten by her courage, and also compassion to help others. Zero was scared at first, and a thousand years of drama caused the two to become lover turned enemy. However after the final defeat of evil (Zeromus fight), they realized they loved each other all along. Otherwise they will go their separate way, because if they actually really hated each other, they will not team together to restore the 13th dimension. So no, it is not a headcanon the story is very clear.

Not necessarily (though this is probably a bit beyond the scope of the original point)

This is probably a better use of playersexual as you can play either gender but only your unique character canonically exists in the world

So if you play a male WOL and erenville shows romantic attraction to you and nobody else he could easily be portrayed as either bi or gay, if you play a female WOL he could be portrayed as straight or bi, since we know that he will show romantic attraction to you regardless of gender (in this theoretical example) it’s most likely he would be actually bi but since this is never represented in the game to the WOL who only sees one half it’s probably better to use playersexual so to speak

It’s also another reason why I don’t think romances would work in this game, because playersexual romances always feel forced and lifeless

Big no on 2 and 3. Why would they force add romance, when you can already marry other player characters?

Not to mention, I have zero interest in Ereville, and would get pissed, if the game forced him on me. G'raha is bad enough

No thanks to the romance unless it's completely optional. Raha's weird hero worship of the WoL is bad enough, I don't need a bunboy fawning over me as well.

Make playing Mahjong reward you tons of MGP because the games take a while, thanks.

all the new msq dungeons will be variants and either you need a special ending to continue or you can choose any ending and change the msq events :p

Clearly SE's issue is that they made two completely different games, because my version of the game does not seem to include this "classic love" story.

Wow, not the type of requests I usually see from these types of threads usually.

While more dungeons sounds nice on paper, the gap between is nice to let things breathe a bit. One every single level feels like a bit much but I wouldn't mind maybe some optional side quests dungeons along the way as an alternative. Dusk vigil is a great dungeon that isn't on the msq path in heavensward.

As for the WoL speaking, please no. Odds are any delivery or forced dialogue from the WoL wouldn't line up with how a lot of people envision how their character is. Same with romance options. While XIV can lean into some potential relationships from time to time, even with the WoL it's ultimately up to the player to define said relationships. Same with NPC relationships. I certainly never got the vibe Zero and Golbez had any connection in that way. But to each their own and I'd rather it remain up to player interpretation.

Romance will never happen canonically for the same reason we will never find out who the parents of the WoL are and if we have any siblings. SE might have answers for this internally with their "Meteor" character representative for the WoL, but it's one of those things such as our actual age that they will likely never reveal to us.

My hopes on the Live Letter are they actually touch upon many needed QoL changes across the entire game. Since they were planning to add the second dye option, they might as well give the glamour system some more work and also expand the amount of stored glamour and glamourer plates (they will never be enough and they will always run on scarcity issues as they increase the amount of gear pieces and classes). Also things like the janky menus, housing (as always), rewards systems, social toools like the friend list and the FC list (why can't we assign different visibility and colors to FCs members already?), whatever's going on with fellowships, raiding tools, QoL on world-travel and DC travel.

Yoshi-P giving a sneak peek of DT through his demonstrations lala, some more demonstrations of the graphical update, plans for the DC travel and merchandise are pretty much a given at this point. Wouldn't expect any reveal on what's in store for classes until next LL.

On the subject of romance, I'd really rather they avoided it.

So far they've demonstrated that they're happy to hint at or imply attraction between two NPCs but never expand on that. The most blatant example is Urianger and Moenbryda, but even then they drew the line at Moenbryda making a few flirtatious comments.

And I don't think they'd ever indulge the WoL having a romance - it would ruin the shipping fantasies of all those players who refer to, for example, G'raha as their "husbando".

The Warrior questline does a lot more than hint at an attraction between two NPCs.

That said, two of my WoL already have official in-game romances -- they are respectively Eternally Bonded to two of my spouse's WoLs. A forced romance as part of DT's storyline would be unthinkable for those characters.

IMO, any WoL romance should be a purely-optional, no-unique-rewards sidequest line.

Romances will never happen to the WOL in the MSQ. There may be hints of interest here or there to make the story interesting but they will never blatantly say it that X person is in love with WOL. The closest thing will be them saying they heavily admire you.

My hopes for the next live letter is going over job balance and how healers will change. Also more explanation on the "More rewards" comment that was made a few weeks back.

Real AA Options

I pretty much know everything I want to know already about Dawntrail. My hopes for the live letter are the same every time, because I have yet to hear them... 1. Glamour Log (dresser and plates are unsustainable as gear inflates every expansion and more jobs added). 2. If they're going to stick with the plate system, a way of tying a hairstyle to each plate so I don't have to change my hair every time I use certain glamours I like different hairstyles with.

They are looking at each other more than 3 seconds, they are spending 1000, 2000, and even more years rebuilding the void, since they are immortal because of voidsending, they are partners for live. If that is not true love, I don't what is!
