Something something purpose something competitive something grass something
dunning-kreuger effect. people perceive themselves as being far more skilled than they actually are but when they realize this it is typically a stressor (i'm sure we've all been there at least once) that said there are valid and invalid ways of expressing this
Replace 'static' with 'casuals' and you'd be just as accurate. This generalization game you want to play goes both ways, my guy.
I'm just gonna say that whoever that guy you linked in your video is projecting hard as fuck. Really poor example you're trying to use. "It's never my fault. It's those other terrible raiders that are always the problem". Dude really fails to see the common denominator here.
Some people take their hobby more seriously. Just move along, you don't have to play with them.
Why do you feel it's your place to give them advice they haven't asked for?
It's true that a lot of people aren't as skilled as they want to think but it's also true that some people exaggerate the skill needed to complete the content. Not everyone is looking to optimize their performance. Some just want to mess around with friends having a good time whether they clear or not.
If a party isn't performing to your expectations, politely bow out and look for another party unless they've said they're open to your suggestions. You're not going to make things better by trying to force your advice on them.
Same problem exists with cheaters thinking they are good players. They have something others dont and wich usually takes time and skill to obtain/win.
People that buy ultimates also often think they are good or pretend to be good.
Because they have not realized that they are just fighting a script, that litterally everyone can get away with doing high as low young as old and by that seeing them higher than others.
It is kind of really sad whenever it get to it, and it also in many ways render the Ultimate Titles as weapons for kind of useless, it is a bit like becoming a mentor just for the crown in a figure of speech.
I'm not the best tank and I'm not the best heals but I will say that playing all roles really helped me improve.
I do enjoy when, as an example, I'm tanking and the heals wants bigger pulls. Like, I'm watching them, they are only casting heals and can barely keep up don't ask me to pull more. And please DPS don't pull for me. Sometimes one pack is enough if everyone is poorly geared in a leveling dungeon.
What I normally say to those interested in joining a Static:
- The Pros of a Static? is a Static!
- The Cons of a Static? is a Static...
The reoccurring problems I witnessed with joining or helping plenty Static groups who predominantly only play with their Static members, is often an unwillingness to adjust to their local DataCenter Partyfinder preferred strats due to the bubble they created by only playing with each-other which can lead to a Hivemind / Ego, but not all Statics are like this. When 8 Static members are online its fine, but when a sub/pug needs to fill in or a static member leaves? that 1 new member has to very often adjust to the Static, and to often? without forewarning as well... if the Static cannot do or doesn't want to do the PF/DC standard preferred way of doing things.
You might have heard the phrases before like " Our strat is so much easier/better/safer ", says the Static that are struggling to clear with the better working strat they are doing... skill-issues or not... Whilst blaming the 1 pug or new member in their separate Linkshell chat to the static that can't adjust asap.
- One party member adjusting to 7 players is one thing
- Expecting an entire Datacenter to adjust to 8 players is another
Some very obvious Solutions and things I learned along the way?
- Avoid players who value parses highly
- Leave asap if you're the pug & having a bad experience
- Don't stay stuck in a bubble, expose yourself to PF/Discords etc
- Free Time? Test the strats the Static is mocking
Great if you can be a good Static Member in a good Static. But there's a benefit to being a flexible player to be able to join any party? over relying on a Static with Static Strats to get what you want cleared or done, mhm.
