Did they nerf dungeon XP recently?

Outside of roulettes, I need to know if they've nerfed dungeon XP recently. I've leveled four combat jobs to 80 with zero issue. But now that I'm leveling my fifth, it is taking forever. Before, I'd get around a quarter of my bar worth. For example, queing for MSQ dungeon, despite having already gotten the daily reward, I'd still get about a quarter of my xp bar. But since the last minor patch, I haven't. I just ran Castrum Meridianum and got roughly five percent of my bar? I used to get much more than that while pushing 70-90. Has anybody else experienced this, or know of a setting that might have gotten hosed that's causing it? I've been trying for a week now to get from 70 to 90 and am still only 79. Not even 80! What's going on?

Castrum Meridianum is level 50 duty. Expansion max level dungeons always rewarded next to no exp. If you're in that level range, use either Aurum Vale or Dusk Vigil

Also if you mean specifically MSQ roulette, it gives reward only one per day. I ran it today and got usual normal experience, maybe you did it twice?

What I'm saying, though, is that a week ago, it wasn't like that. I still got decent XP.

Basically this.
Outside of the daily roulette bonus it has always been better to run the highest leveling dungeon available to you, level cap dungeons (50/60/70/80/soon 90) always had bad XP returns because at the level you used to run them at you didn't need the XP. Pretty much the same thing you see happening with post-expansion MSQ quests where the XP takes a nosedive until you reach the next expansion's x.0 MSQ.
As you say you're 79 Mt Gulg should be where you want to be leveling, until you get to 81 and can do the Tower of Zot - skip the level 80 dungeons.

Maybe you got Castrum through Main Scenario roulette before and now you queued for Castrum directly?

maybe your sprout buff ran out or you didn't have a mentor in grp to give you bonus, maybe your preferred world status changed/ended, maybe you got a higher level dungeon for you roulette so the exp bonus was weighed less. maybe you just over estimated how much exp that particular activity gives.

Yeah, I must just be losing it. Played for two years, so it isn't the sprout thing. Oh well! Just gonna queue for specific dungeons from here on out.

Outside roulettes, always queue for the specific dungeon within your level range for the best exp. Don't forget to eat your food. Also, your 'rested' exp bonus likely ran out.

I'd say still do roulettes, at least MSQ, Levelling, Alliance Raid and, if its your cup of tea, Frontlines. Those four do give good daily roulette EXP, just do note that its only once per day, and after that they dont give any bonuses and its basically just queueing for random dungeon for 0 extra reward.

On average, you should get about a third of your experience bar, in my "experience". :D

That is providing you are doing the leveling dungeon closest to your level. A leveling dungeon is any dungeon that is 1-49, 51-59, 61-69, 71-79 or 81-89 and excludes 50, 60, 70 and 80 dungeons.

It's because it's a max level dungeon. These have never given much exp. If they did then it was probably a temporary bug.

I seem to recall roulette bonuses not giving as much exp at 80 as they did at 79 or 81. Are capstone levels different for exp rewards from roulette?

Level 50, 60, 70 and 80 dungeons just aren't meant to give much exp. The roulettes merely multiply the exp from the dungeon, so if you do a capstone roulette such as Level 50/60/70/80 roulette, then you won't get much exp compared to, say, Leveling roulette.

Some of the exp is increased below level 80 as a bonus for having a job at level 80 or higher. So once you reach 80 it can be cut in half.

There is also the challenge log which is a factor. It gives exp after you beat a certain amount of dungeons for the week. There is also rested exp which can run out after a bit.

It gives proper amount of EXP, but scaling of 'round' levels is off, because things provide EXP amount appropriate for 71-80 bracket, but exp needed to go from 80 to 81 is appropriate to 81-90 bracket.

I don't recall this being an issue with SB or ShB, but I definitely noticed in EW that getting from 80 to 81 with roulettes was a bit of a pain.

Just to add that anecdote, I distinctly remember this being the case in SB because getting some alt Jobs to 61 to unlock HoH was a slog.
I can't speak for ShB/EW because there I made it a point to specifically spend my WTs completion XP to kickstart getting everything that wasn't leveling through the MSQ to 71/81 first so I could level some alt Jobs while grinding the Trust NPCs to the respective level cap.

Feels nerfed to me. I took a break for about a year and came back it's moving quite a bit slower than I remember. So much so I looked for and found this thread.

This is almost always the case when someone asks why they're not getting as much xp from the same duty as they did yesterday or last week.

You weren't on a preferred world with a Road to 80 buff that might've expired by chance?

The amount of EXP you get for a roulette is relative to the duty that you get whilst in that roulette.

For example, if you queue for MSQ roulette and you get Praetorium then you'll get significantly more EXP than if you were to get Castrum.

The only other thing I can think of is the armory bonus going from 100% > 50% when you hit level 80. But I cannot remember if both dungeon EXP and roulette EXP were unaffected, or whether it was just roulette EXP.

PVP is actually really good for xp. Almost half a level for 15 minutes. Sure you get more if you win but it doesn't really matter too much. Just go in and half a laugh with it.

As for dungeons, avoid any dungeon with a 0 in it. 50/60/70...ect are terrible for xp. 49/59/69....ect is the way forward.
