No new FFXIV info until mid August.

The end of September is the end of summer for the northern hemisphere. Period. It doesn't matter what local weather patterns are. As for info release, no this isn't news. Yes there was a thread about this yesterday as well. No, I am not "dissapointed," this is pretty much been as I had expected. You know, since they stated on the timeline that august was when new info was coming.

I don't see why we need any info at all! You're already doing just fine complaining about the lack of things to complain about.

Though, it is interesting just how anxious people are getting to receive information that they can twist in order to validate their predictions about FFXIV failing again, or why the game is already horrible beyond recovery.

Grated, FFXIV deserves scrutiny. But some of you guys only seem to only able to find personal gratification by being vocally satisfied with something, anything and everything that even remotely rubs you the wrong way.

Please give me an example of me saying how the game is "horrible beyond recovery". I'm disappointed by the lack of news because we were promised news all summer long. So far we've had a handful of screenshots, some concept art and interviews with old news. If they can't provide the information they shouldn't make baseless claims. I wouldn't have been irritated if they hadn't promised a summer full of information.

Instead of coming here and whining, why not log in to the game and help some folks shouting for help in Ul'dah? 2.0 will be here before you know it.

I'm not whining. I'm airing my disappointment in SE's lack of release timing. I don't think I've ever seen a patch that's come out on time. It's irritating when they continuously fail to deliver things at a specified time.

the last patches ALL have been within the time schedule!

the start of the promotion campaign of version 2.0. is ALSO WITHIN time schedule (look up that fuckin' pdf time schedule from one year ago)


and WHY should they release informations about 2.0. even before the last patch 1.23? so that no one shows interest in the showdown of the main story? that in mind is all being calculated by marketing guys from Square Enix ..

and even if they publish new videoes now.. its way too early.. 2.0. will be released early next year, so why should they start with it exactly now? and as i mentioned.. it is clear that they dont want to promote 2.0. when they release patch 1.23 end of this month..

seriously... NO sense.

Okay, so devs, just post the entire story, maps of all the newly designed areas, pictures of all the upcoming gear, monsters...you know, everything about the game. Post it all here. Ingolf would rather read about it in a forum post than play the actual game.

It really puzzles me how some people always get so hostile when they voice their views.

I have no problem with them releasing their info as they see fit. I just wish they would mean what they say. Come on SE is notorious for having horrible explanations of time.

Same. This forum is notoriously bad for flipping out whenever someone says anything even slightly negative about XIV.

I've been around Video game forums for a long time. This is the first community forum that actually makes me stare at my monitor in disbelief. Even when the devs ADMIT to doing something wrong, people will still defend them. It's a pretty interesting phenomenon at least. I assume it's born out of the excessive negativity circling XIV outside of the forum.

I find it funny how we're always sitting here discussing definitions. When is summer? When is the beginning/middle/end of a month?

Everything is always up in the air, but in general SE always release things at the very last minute (when they don't delay it), as time shows over and over again. So I always expect that.

woot.. it has been one patch out of time... the last patch was in time, and the next will be also. and i can remember that the patches before 1.21 have been also in time.
so maybe you have some problems with your memory.


i cant wait myself.. but can you tell me if it really makes sense to start a promotional campaign even before the last story content patch has been released. so no one will be interested into the "old" stuff anymore?

and we now know that they will start with it in august, so it will start in august. and on the other side it makes no sense, because they still promote the old client with one last content story patch.
it is obvious that SE wants to start with the focus on 2.0. AFTER the story has been told in version 1.23.

no its just you sound like a crying baby because you dont get your information (videos or whatever) now..

nothing has been delayed concerning that. the promotion campaign is within the time schedule which has been set up one year ago (!). as well as the most patches. so your complain is really unnecessary and sounds like a child shouting for his lollipop or christmas present.

Um, you're the one strawmanning. There are delays with one patch, therefore EVERY patch is delayed?

They showed a tech demo of 2.0 at E3, concept art for RSE at Japan Expo, more stuff certainly incoming at Gamescom, so there's been NO NEW INFORMATION?

The only thing they've changed is where they originally said the teaser trailer for 2.0 would be shown at E3. They decided to hold off on that until mid-August for marketing purposes, so that they could talk more about the game itself at E3, Japan Expo, and Gamescom. And so they could release the final patch before 2.0 first, so that version 1 could be "complete" before the trailer for 2.0 goes public.

Other than that, EVERYTHING is going according to the schedule they put in place a year ago.

Would you rather it be released on time, every time? Or would you rather have it work properly?

Let's look back at version 1.0, which SE rushed to release on time even though it wasn't anywhere near ready. How did that turn out for everyone?

I don't mind patch delays (assuming they aren't ridiculous) I'm simply pointing out that he was wrong by saying every patch releases on time.

I do mind erroneous and misconstrued promises. When the trailer wasn't at E3, I was a miffed but I felt pretty happy that they promised we would get a teaser site with new information and have rapid information all summer long. This has yet to be the case, and summer isn't going to last forever.
