It's been 5 years how about hats for Viera and Hrothgar

Just hire a contractor and please fix this or let the ears stick through and we can choose if it works or not

They said they're working on hats do we'll get to see what they have in mind hopefully upon release.

I believe it was mentioned somewhat recently about them working on adjusting the system for it so hopefully come Dawntrail we'll get something.

It's been five years, they haven't even tried to introduce new hats. It's clearly not something they're going to bother with. If it was coming in Dawntrail, they would have said something during the fanfests.

If you want to get your hopes up for hats in 8.0 I guess you can start now, but it's time to just accept that Viera and Hrothgar are limited races. It looks like with the smaller muzzles they might let the Hrothgals wear hats, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't just to keep parity with the males.

This would be the smart thing to do but how would they sell the expansion after Dawntrail if they didn't have "something the player's been asking for for a decade." That's the new cbu3, half ass things, then make it a fanfest feature when you "fix it."

I don't see it coming until at least 8.X tbh. Anyone expecting them to come with graphics update still doesn't understand what it's about, and they will be spending quite a bit of time catching up past areas to new standard retroactively. That said, it IS a feature they actually said is coming, rather than vague "we'll consider it" or "if it's possible", so I expect work on that to start at some point after graphics update and all the catch up related to it are drive.

How? How are they struggling with the hats when two-three years prior they introduced a fully-fledged race? How are they struggling with the hats but not all other gear pieces? This is a big question mark.

Wasn't it mentioned in fanfest or Q&A recently that they are reworking their heads or sumething

They also said female Viera would get more of their own hairstyles when they first released and mentioned the lack of hats, so much for that.

It's because the playerbase that was the loudest said they didn't want that- that they wanted the vanilla hairstyles & modern aesthetics added instead, so that's what we got

Can’t remember which YouTuber posted it but I’m pretty sure there’s a rumor about finally fixing the Viera hat situation in dawntrail

it is kinda silly that they sell outfits for your character for real money and you cant even equip the head piece on some races and by silly i mean criminal.

They do at least tell you if the headgear or hairstyle is unavailable on hrothgar and viera but it's still a bit silly. Since they are cash shop items you would think some extra effort would be put into them and make them more appealing by having it work for all races.

idk if they'll ever add ALL hats for them, but I do think there will be new headgear thats made to fit them in DT.

The tonberry mask works on Viera, what more could you possibly need

And I couldn't find any examples of Hrothgals wearing even any gear other than the race gear from the trailer.

Well, it will 100% take a while. They did say they were working on it in an interview. But we all know their track record on the things said in interviews...
So far I think they would try and give Viera and Hrothgars their hairstyles and finish the visual update. And maybe then actually work on the hats. Unless they will release a new MMO by then, in which case they will just leave it as is.
I have 0 hope for any hats, at least not until 8.0/9.0. Definitely not this expac. But who knows they could always surprise us.

Should just boycott the race at this point. A guy in his basement working for free in his spare time figured out hats back in shadowbringers, but you're telling me the 2 billion dollar company working for for five years still can't manage it? lol. lmao. Just boycott this unfinished race. If you meet new people, steer them away from it by just telling them the truth: you can't wear hats on this race. Show them the minimal hairstyles available. Warn them that they'll be buying cash shop sets that they can't even use completely. Use your DT fanta to swap to a race that's actually finished.

All through shadowbringers, CBU3 said they were working on it. Then in endwalker they said they were working on it. Now in dawntrail they're saying they're working on it. If you still believe they're working on it, then I have a bridge to sell you. They don't care. They'd rather just make hats worse for everyone (circlets for DAYS, bro) than fix the issue that some lone modder in his basement was able to rig up for free back in like 2020. "Oh, but in the interviews" my dude, they've been doing these interviews for yeeeeeeeeeears. If I told you I was working on something for five years, with no progress to show of it, would you believe me or would you think I was stringing you along? You'd start to at least suspect that I wasn't being entirely truthful about my progress. But with this company, you guys just keep trusting them. It's so sad. It's like watching a bad dad make the promise but ultimately fail to show up for his disappointed son's soccer game again and again.

Oh, but "be patient!" lmao. Just keep waiting! I mean, maybe in 8.0, right? And y'know, even if they did it tomorrow, I wouldn't feel bad about this post. Because I've had this viewpoint for years. I agree with you on everything, but this point. And not just because I have been waiting for Hrothgals to be available and I finally got my perfect girl, which I will never fanta off.
But also a point that has been brought up before, and has a lot of merit:
If we all jump off the races, they will see them as failures and never update them because "no one plays them, so why bother?". We should keep playing them, but make our voices heard, with the full intent of not buying anything we cannot use. Don't support them any more than the bare minimum.
If we all jump ship, do you think they would bother to save the sinking ship, or will they leave it to be overturned by the waves? While the ships that were already good, get to have new hands on board?

I don't believe them in the slightest when they say ANYTHING without proof. I have said before and will say it again Proof or it didn't happen.
I am happy with what I got and will wait for the hairstyles, which they have continued to give to us. (now with the new girl, I will have to start from day 1, hope for no earless fiasco...). As for the hats, maybe in a new MMO, but here, no chance.

XIV has no budget. This is a cash cow for Square Enix. They will not invest any more than is necessary for maintenance. Anything else they have to plead with the higher-ups for it. They can't do it, not because of the imaginary restrictions in-game, as you said a guy in his basement made it work (good job to him). The only restrictions there are is the budget. No one works for free, the circlets we got were from a few devs who did work for free, in their spare time. They cannot do it for free on the company time, they have to do it at home and with no monetary reward for their work.
So no, I do not believe this will be fixed unless Square stops pulling money from their only good game and putting it in half-done games that will be cancelled halfway through. Unless they do that, then don't expect it unless a new MMO gets in the works. And by their track record, it will not have these races anyway, it will be the same Midlander, Elezen, Lalafell, Miquo'te and Roegadine, but with different names.

Just be real with it. SquareEnix is putting .01% effort into it. Because they incompetently released broken races. I don't care if it was the players who wanted them. That is a moronic excuse. Just be real with it. SquareEnix is a multi-billion (with a b) dollar company, and some modder can do it in days. They're a joke of a company at this point. If it wasn't for Yoshi P seeming like such a cool guy, I would've abandoned this clown shoes game years ago.

The 89 RPR set has a hat and they're fine with viera ears clipping through that, but they won't permit it with every other hat because... reasons.

I heard it's because they didn't make "hat versions" of the racial hair for Viera and Hrothgar, so headgear that doesn't show hair can be worn by Viera and Hrothgar.
...Only, that's inconsistent too, because I've come across headgear that doesn't show hair be unavailable for V/H as well.

From what I can tell, all the dev team needs to do is make hat compatible versions of the Viera and Hrothgar hairs, but they seem unwilling to do it. I mean, look at how they never lifted the hair restrictions on Hrothgar and even made it a problem for female Hrothgar.

That's pretty much it. I've just given up believing they are working on it at all, sadly. Too long with only "look forward to it" and then Dawntrail graphics update not having so much as a Word of it crushed any hope I had, to be honest
