What if Pictomancer had a "Drawing Mode", similar to Bard's "Performance Mode"?

Some of my friends came with this idea and the first thing I thought was "bruh, imagine the amount of dicks that would be drawn in Limsa". Part of me thinks that it would be really chaotic and impossible to regulate if that happens, but I also think it would be really fun. What do you think?

I think that would most definitely have to be very heavily moderated if they added in such a feature... Because drawing a bunch of dicks is probably far from the worst you could do with such a feature.

With this player base, it's mission impossible to keep that civilized.

I love the concept though.

Given how things have gone with the NSFW adventurer plates, I'd really not want to see much more player expression in game where people can put or write anything they want and you're forced to see it.
Adventurer plates still aren't entirely under control as it is, I still have times about once every 1-2 weeks where I load into a roulette and someone pops up in a portrait with their ass on display in a thong and 2B leggings, and man, I don't want to see that. Put that away.
Not everyone wants to see horny stuff 24/7.

In more serious context, I feel that would be a GM's nightmare. My first thought to support it was make it FC and friend only, but then I imagined all the clubs advertised on the PF where you can pay gil to look up nudes of Thancred, or even more fun for SE, Ryne.. just a really fun time for SE lol.

If we were a mature MMO, like we had the BG3 / CdProjekt ratings.. then honestly let's go (some content would still get banned but just a Thancred nude would be a solid whatever), but given we don't have that rating we would quickly have to lol.

Could be socially very neat, and if it was added I honestly wouldn't care what art was there so long as you can't graffiti right into my face like a giant phallic crystal tower, but oh man would it be a never ending giants one eyed monster hunt for SE haha.

Making it collectable sounds really fun actually! It could have been used as a way to collect bard instruments as well. Certain challenges and achievements to get them

So like crafting unique to painter? That sounds neat. Might add some color dyes too so you could customize it a bit, my sunset orange yours is blue. I suggested part of the visual concern of painter that you could collect paints, which impact the visuals of your spells (so you could have Asian ink painting up to rainbow sparkle EDM dance party like the trailer lol). Combine that with paint crafting is pretty roleplay solid ideas. The crafted art could also be selected for your combat moments. Love strong roleplay!

Since EorzeaWanderer mentioned it, definitely bard should have been gameified too. Would love to see bard wandering from tavern and concert space to collect instruments and perform. Adding some gameplay value out of it like once a week you can play for a tavern to get instant rested exp bonus, or a beast tribe to get some tokens and exp, etc. Players who listen earn a buff that acts as a food and movement speed buff (in open world), etc.

I actually wish that we could collect more Bard instruments, like, there's a lot that we don't have, accordeon, shamisen, organ. This feels like a miss oportunity.

I've already seen the memes on the shitpost subreddit to know where it would go. Players aren't mature enough for it.

I was thinking something similar, that maybe it could be like a feature that functions kind of like adventurer plates where you're working on a "canvas", but can only decorate it with premade assets like the backgrounds, accents, and stickers you see in plates and gpose. Drag and drop elements and arrange things how you like. And then the picture could show up during /bstance or /vpose. Overall something like the Pokeball Seals in Generation IV.
Not the ideal way I would implement a drawing feature but something to minimize abuse.

Artists gotta make their money somehow. Pictomancer ends up accurate to representation.

The only way I could see it working is if they just let you do one brushstroke at a time, but it doesn't stay there. You could do slashes in various directions, a circular swipe, maybe a squiggle shape or a spiral, or drag the brush on the ground to leave a trail behind you as you run around. You could set what colour you want them to be, or make it random colours, or different mixes like a rainbow.

some kind of oekaki style drawing solution? why not. what could possibly go wrong??

That sounds like it would be kinda fun! Could also be integrated with the gpose feature: maybe you can choose a subject to do their “portrait” but customize with all that stuff and use a filter to make it look painted.

People act like a drawing mode would be a bad idea, but think of it this way. You can say whatever you want when you turn the mature filter off. You still end up in the gaol for misbehaving. Nothing different would happen with a drawing mode. It would just be another the mods would moderate, and people would get busted.

Just add a hand-shake system.
You can draw whatever you want but for others to actually see it you would all need to be in the same party or linkshell or a right-click menu to accept.

My only concern is how much dev time and money would be used on this when it could be used on working on hat/helms for viera; sliders, game physics, textures, etc.

There will be lots, and I mean lots, of NSFW stuff. I would love this too but you just can't give 14 players that much power, sadly.

Fun fact: There once was a Lego MMORPG called LEGO Universe. One of the key features was the ability to create and share your own LEGO creations. As it was an E-rated game for a well-known family friendly brand, moderation had to be especially strict. It wasn't enough to have a "report creation" option. Every single LEGO creation had to be pre-screened by a human moderator before it could be shared. As you can imagine, the cost of that was astronomical, and was one of the key reasons the game failed financially, and was shut down.

Take this with a mountain of salt, but remember the slides mentioning new lifestyle content? The artwork they showed off for that slide involved a canvas on an easel. Now, I'm all but certain they were just being thematic with the PCT reveal, but another thought did cross my mind in that moment: What if PCT gives you the ability to make your own paintings to put on your walls, or if the canvas is an outdoor furnishing meant to be placed on your island?

Besides, it'd be moderated for like a few months maybe. It'd be fun to see people drawing all sorts of degeneracy, getting reported for it and then complaining because there's rules much like what happened with adventure plates.

Only if there's a way to turn it off, just like bard performances. I hate visiting Limsa enough as it is, I don't need to see neon genitalia everywhere.
