Earth Resonance to 8s... why?

It has always been difficult to do well as MNK in PvP, and yet over time this job becomes steadily weaker. Shortening Earth Resonance isn't a minor adjustment. Now it has less time to compile both damage and healing, so not only can't it heal as much anymore, it's also further away from doing significant damage. And this is in addition to how clumsy the ability is, because it has to be manually activated to do Early's Reply. Not only that, it has a very significant delay from when it is activated to when the ability actually does something. How wonderful it would be, if the MNK can choose to either manually activate Earth's Reply, or having it activate on its own when the duration expires.

I always hated earth’s reply, no actual mitigation, 10 seconds for a mediocre heal and if you get stunned at the last second it does absolutely nothing. When I saw its name in the patch notes I thought “oh they finally buffed this”. I started thinking about all the things they could have done to it. Made it work like purify so it can be used while stunned, maybe even remove any ailments too. Increased the base healing or made the heal AoE like the damage. Added some form of mitigation to it like a shield or reduced damage taken. Or at least made it trigger automatically when the duration expired.

But no…. They nerfed it… what?

Getting those stuns at the last second (or timing against it as MNK) is actually part of skilled play, the same way it is for a DRK under LB.

The time it gets to actually heal though is an absolute eyesore, much like PLD's guardian and a lot of healing/purifying abilities.

No way you're serious... Earth's reply is one of the strongest heals in pvp, which actually requires skill to optimize. 50K+ heals are common when you know how to use it. Which is probably why they reduced the duration.

Lowkey trying to get us to play different jobs in PvP. Sorry Yoshi-P, i'll still play Monk and continue to get bent over. :D

EDIT; i just want to add my statement is in direct contrast to all the nerfs Monk has got in PvP since CC launched- it's still a hard job to play in PvP and quite easy to get rolled over on by jobs that take very little skill and time to play.

S Tier job: the job you play

Pretty much this. The devs seem to have their favorites that they want everyone to play and fk all the rest.

If you’re getting a 50k heal you took about 100k in damage within 10 seconds and somehow survived without any other mitigation on the job and somehow didn’t get stunned to death. At that point Earth’s reply is not the reason you’ve survived.

Meanwhile DRG pops Dragon’s roar and for the next 10 seconds takes 50% less damage, essentially the same end result without any “skill” required.

It does require skill, don't know what to tell you, it requires ancitipating and knowing what you can tank, soaking enemy cds for your teammates, etc... Yes you can very much tank 100k in 10s, survive with the pot, get a gigantic reply off and then keep doing your business or retreat. In fact it regularly happens if you optimize and put yourself forward given how tanky monk is. I won't get into what dragoon can do, plus earth's reply is a much more fun skill to use.

Sounds like you should switch to gnb. It got an "actual mitigation" and deals a lot of damage.

No, if you actually bothered to read what I wrote you'd have noticed that I specifically described what kind of skill the ability promotes, and what is actually clunky and an eyesore as well. You're just making up strawmen and trying to drop commonplace cliches.

The only real bad thing about it is the delay when you press the button to heal, other than that its one of the best healing skills you can have in the game.

Weird to see people on Aether say its hard to do well with Monk or that it has low healing, when the Rank 1-3 for the last 5 seasons has been a damn near unkillable monk main.

you guys really just complain about every nerf to a job you play no matter how justified it is huh
