How do you spend your time in XIV between the patches?

A lot of longer time players bring it up how there's not much to do towards end of patch cycle. How do you spend your time during this part of patch cycle?

I used to play PvP and Mahjong due their less repetitive nature compared to raiding and such, but after doing so for large part of Endwalker it's starting to feel less and less rewarding so I'm just taking a break now.

I complete my bigger goals. In the past I've leveled all jobs, farmed the mentor mount, decorated houses several times, tried to solo PotD/HoH, got some tank mounts and extreme mounts, did old relics, collected all the TT cards required for the mount and set up my own fc and submarines. Right now I'm trying to finish getting 2000 S rank kills for the title and mount. That will be done before summer, hopefully.

I play XIV every day and always find something to do. I also do something incredibly crazy. I play other games.

I'm finally leveling an alt to prep for future raids. Progging Ultimates that I haven't done - and just doing general 'busywork' to occupy my time while I still have the time for it.

I tend to spend this time on catching up on things that I didn't do earlier for some reason. Leveling jobs, completing some achievements, that sort of thing.

Sometimes just log in to talk to friends and take some sceenshots.

If I absolutely no idea on what to do, then I can take a short break for like a week or something to play other games.

Catching up on older content. Achievement grinds. Completing collections of old relic weapons.

Also slowly prepping certain mats for DT.

I don't :). I unsub and play other games :)

Usually start working on another old relic weapon for glamour purposes. Else, I just unsub and play other games.
And not to forget, check the forum for troll posts, giggles and complains.

Whatever strikes my fancy. Usually roulettes, catch up with side quests, level other jobs, PF EX trials, deep dungeon and map runs, seek out glamours, or just log off and do other things: gym, write, read etc.

Playing other games. I just recently beat Elden Ring. It was tremendous. You should try it when it goes back on sale. Just don't be intimidated by its reputation. I found it quite easy, honestly. It was cheap, but it was way easier than what I was told.

Playing with alts, collecting glamours, assembling glamours, working through sidequests... and trying to remember to play some other games for variety instead of being on this forever.

I got a PS5 recently so I finally got to play Rift Apart (and now want to go back and replay the earlier R&C games), also enjoyed Tchia and am currently having not as much fun as I had hoped to have with Baldur's Gate 3.

Despite some drawbacks from EW & thus other changes it still doesn’t sway me from enjoying the game altogether as I’ve heavily invested my time/passion on this avatar & though I’ve befriended folks along the way (and some had disappeared sadly…) I will always treasure the memories that got me where I am. I truly look forward to Dawntrail’s change of cycle & very excited to have the Xbox community join us in Eorzea; it will feel nice to see some new fresh sprouts/faces for sure.

Catch up on content I didn't finish yet.

• FATE grinding (you know, for the 1,000 FATE vouchers).
• Island Sanctuary coffer farming.
• Maps (still need some things from these that I haven't been lucky with).
• Need to beat Eureka Orthos more.
• Need to finish Tataru's quests because I couldn't be bothered with them tbh.
• Need to do criterions at some point.
• And any older content I haven't done yet, such as ultimates, HoH solos, POTD, more ocean fishing for the mora minion.

But mostly I just make sure to at least do a mentor roulette each day, do weekly hunt bills and other weeklies, tomestone cap and so on.

I ignored Island Sanctuary so I spend a tiny bit of time there each day. Up to Rank 11 now.
I do the 3 24-mans each week to upgrade gear to 660.
I do daily expert maybe 4-5 days a week as I'm still collecting Relic weapon upgrades. That said I'm narrowing down the few classes I decided to keep that updated for since I am not bothering with jobs I know I never play. Probably 7 or so I like to keep updated.
I occasionally play around with decorating my house.

I have a few jobs/crafts not levelled but am not motivated right now to finish those few. I also haven't touched Criterion dungeons and am not sure I'll ever get around to it. Instead I do log out and just play something else. I have a little bit of a backlog so the downtime is nice to work on that.

I play FF11 and I rip and tear as a true Dark Knight should.

PvP, I did get the Eureka armor then took a break though, I think my next goal is the full set of Law Order gear, then completing an Ultimate for the first time.

Before my FC i would just go play different games between the patches,

Now i have my FC we do the following;

- Map runs
- Ultimate Proging
- Hunt Trains
- Social nights
- Savages
- Leveling crafters

I used to pvp during my off time. It's no longer attractive to me after changes over the 2 expansions.

These days, I am either chatting with other players or off in an apartment doing jump puzzles. I am currently thinking about either soloing PotD or learning Lord of Verminion.

pvp and play another game

I just finished the Growing Light story arc. There is still a lot of older and endgame content for me to do, so I will be zeroing in on all of that between the upcoming patches.

Achievements and helping friends, that's about it if I'm honest.

I play PvP and other games or I start doing things I skipped out doing in earlier patches or expansions.

Diablo 4, FFXIV is dying and the new expansion wont fix anything sadly.

That’s funny since Diablo 4 is on a faster descent than XIV.

Play other games. ATM been playing Wildhearts. It's been fun so far but could use a little more polish. Too bad EA didn't stick with it longer. Also looks like a game that is super easy to get a platinum trophy on for PSN... Unlike MH World with it's trophies that were either a heavy grind or reliant on RNG.

I play other games. Devoting 100% of my free time to a single game leads to burn out and there are many good games out there that require some of my attention.

At that point they should just add some games suggestion in the patch keynote :3

This extended drought is really messing with my creative process! I normally use the end of patch quiet time to work on relics or field content with my partner [hell even pvp rewards and moogletomes help with this] and then eventually that low impact grind keeps me juuuust engaged enough to enjoy the game but for a sense of pressure/boredom to start building so I start getting ideas, looking round at whatever unfinished projects I have laying around [in this case it's the grisly unassembled parts of a scratch built BJD and an Emet Selch cosplay] and eventually the pressure reaches a point and I start working on stuff. It's like safely baiting a manic episode. So understandably with no grind or content like that to keep me occupied I've skipped all that and I've just got really bored and depressed lmao. Like obviously This will reach a boiling point too and I'll start doing...something but it's way less fun this way

I've been leveling the jobs needed to get the Amaro mount. Got all the healers, tanks, and casters done, working on melee now.
Tuesdays, I participate in A-rank hunts for tomestones and nuts.

I plead the 5th

collecting glamour and help others finish raids and other duties.

Almost finished 2000 mentor roulettes on my 2nd character. Other than that I just level my other alts.
