duty finder and penalties

Hello,

I've been playing quite a lot and a while ago I've created a character for repeating the msq.

Right now I'm finishing shadowbringers quests and I have to queue a lot.

My main new char is a brd and I have to do looooong waits on duty finder. And sometimes while the long wait I do something else and I got kicked out and I got a penalty.

Today I reported this ingame to a GM that is unfair and is really frustrating bc I got a 30m ban time (I had 2 kicks), as I'd quit in the middle of a duty.

The gm just told me that this system action is automatic and it can't be undone manually and they asked me to open a forum entry.

I don't know maybe this is yapping in the vortex and is no use reporting this and no one will delete this unfair behavior.

If you leave a duty there are 3 or 7 other people who now have to wait for a replacement because you left. If you don't want to be punished for inconveniencing everyone else, maybe don't leave them waiting for a replacement.

That GM did you dirty by telling you to post here. You do get we're the people you inconvenienced with your actions, right? We are the ones who sat there just as long as you did, finally got a pop and now have to keep sitting there cause you walked away from your keyboard. I'm afraid you've picked the worst place to get sympathy.

They reset after 24 hours, which is a short period of time considering you shouldn't be racking up multiple penalties in a week let alone a single day.

It sounds like you should be thinking about why you're getting the penalties so often in the first place and change whatever habit you have that is causing them. Or don't queue in the first place if you can't commit to the potential wait. Roulettes are not the only way to get XP and tomestones.

You're directly affecting other players by leaving a duty or not accepting a Duty Finder that you queued for. They had to wait in queue also and now you're making them wait for a replacement on top of that. If it's happening that frequently then you should probably consider why rather than being upset by the consequences.

How many times a day does 1 person really need to abandon Duty Finder, though? If you can't commit to it, then don't queue.

Exactly i can count on one hand in 14 years the number of times I’ve willingly abandoned a duty, I’ve asked a few times to be kicked for a genuine emergency popping up but who the hell needs to abandon 3+ duties every single day

No. It's super annoying waiting a while for que to pop, only to have it reset because one player being afk. Either que and afk around your pc/console, or take the penalty for wasting everyone else's time.

Can the alliance roulettes pls backfill

I love trying to get nier to spawn at like 3am, it finally pops, someone drops out then I have to wait like 60 more minutes to get it to pop again

When I need to go afk, Unless it is for a few seconds only, I leave the queue. The penalty is deserved as you make people wait twice for the queue. Not fun, especially early am as posted above. A 1/2 hour penalty is not the end of the world and it’s a minimum for having no respect of other people’s time. If for sone reason I am not in front of my screen (like someone unexpectedly ringing at the door at that time), I take the penalty and it’s really no big deal: I use the time to do custom deliveries, Gold Saucer, a hunt or hopping on an alt.

Yes please. It’s super frustrating to see the group being assigned to another duty because a single person wasn’t there

now im genuinely curious. what kind of emergency leaves you enough time to ask and wait for a kick and is also short enough for being back in the game again after less than 30min?
