Housing/Manor System

So, as far as we know we will get a Manor/Housing System in 2.0 and our own Chocobo Ranch, but just by looking at the concept art you can see that is gonna be a huge area. And what we can do with that space you may ask, well as we all know certain items like "Fleece" and "Aldgoat Milk" only drops if you kill certain mobs, but why not having them inside your manor and be able to farm the without killing them? See where I'm going?

OK, ahead I will give you a list of the things that in my opinion should add to the manors and stuff that could work with the manors:

1) Beast masters: Those of you that have played FF XI know about this class and what he can do. The idea is simple use them to tame certain mobs (Like "Karakuls" and "Aldgoats") and bring them to the manor and you can start to farm them. But wait, how is the question. I will explain it next.

2) New DoL class "Farmer" (Name can change as long as keeps doing the same):
This new DoL would honor to the name of the class by milking aldgoats, shearing karakuls or sheeps and harvesting his/her own veggies and fruits.

3) Manor Points system: Let's say that you have a basic manor and it gives you 30 manor points and you want to raise just karakuls and each of them costs 4 manor points, OK? That means that you will be able to have a total of 7 karakuls and you will have 2 manor points left, what to do with them? Dunno, maybe you can have a chicken and get some eggs.

4) DoH's helping to upgrade your manor: That's pretty much it, some DoL like CPR could help with the manor upgrading the stables for the chocobos, build fences for the cattle or even upgrade your own house. (Give some ideas about what other crafters could do, like a CUL making food for the cattle or a BSM making tools)

5) Random Events: Like the nighmares or dreams we can have now it would be cool if some random events could trigger if you meet certain requierements.
I.E: Waking up in the middle of the night (Log into the game and when it's night time) just to find that some ixalis are stealing your cattle.

Well, that's pretty much it. If you have any suggestions or you would like to make some changes please feel free to share them.

Sounds good as its not final fantasy farmville. But then again the addiction factor could bring in new subs lol

But seriously, it would be sweet if you wake up in your instanced housing area and find a pack of wolves outside trying to break into the karakul/dodo/aldgoat pen and you have to slay the wolf pack to complete the event quest and you get a reward afterwords.

Crafters upgrade the house and the farm as a whole by buying parts and upgrade contracts from either someone that you invite into your household/land or from the marketplace and/or install and build them yourself as a master crafter.

DoL farmer/shepherd can shear the wool and collect animal supplies from them to sell and craft with, and the same can be done with the chocobo ranch section.

As this new class, either under beastmaster or a new animal specific DoL can tame them and round them up to either keep temporarily for protection, herd from point A to point B on levequests (protect from dangerous mobs) or keep them and bring them back to the ranch/household.

Some really cool ideas. A game within a game, for instance. It will bring in a new crowd of players and expand the world and give people extra fun things to do and create more diversity and identities within players.

Somewhat different spin on it though, sadly I failed to attract the same buzz the mobile airship housing idea did.

We still need more talk on housing as we don't want them to mess this one up :)

I dont think we can "mess it up" because the developers are very unlikely to spend 6 months developing stuff like flying guild housing, just because we discussed it ;-(

I like the idea, it would probably bring in afew more subs or keep them hanging about.

This would be great actually. Could play a game within a game.. for those boring hours you don't really feel like doing too much or only have a short time to play. Now hopefully SE takes a few of your ideas into account :P

lol, this reminds me of people who spend an entire weekend watching the live feed from Big brother of someone else cleaning their house instead of actually getting of the couch and clean their own house.

I'd love it if when my husband and I get married in game we could share the same mog-house/area. It would be really helpful for he and I to share items and what not. Plus! Amusing and enjoyable to build furniture and make a place together in game for fun. :) Wonderful ideas!

I fully support this idea, Galu! I had actually hoped Botanist would have these traits (prior to 1.0 launch). Here's hoping SE takes these ideas into consideration! ^^

Super awesome idea. Do want. Plus crafters can build furniture for your house. And maybe we can get more customization. Weavers can make rugs/curtains/tableclothes. Leatherworkers can make rugs and 'hunting trophies'. Blacksmith can make gardening/farming tools.
We should not have pots like in XI, but fields for our crops/trees. Stables for cattle, coups for birds.

You should be able to leave it all alone for a while without anything devastating happening for a while (lets assume a retainer will feed/water your farm, but if you want to HARVEST anything, or have anything genuinely progress, then you need to show up every now and then.

Maybe your animals and plants can have 'levels' depending on how well you take care of them, and increase their yield.
So if you show up regularly and take care of the farm yourself, the yield will get bigger. But if you neglect it and leave your retainer to care for it instead, then the yield will be significantly lower.

Absolutely no dying/running away plants/animals... I HATED that stuff about XI. I'd be forced to leave my game for a week and then my chocobo will have run away... I take a single day break from the game and all my plants are dead. That stuff was lame as hell. This being a more casual-friendly game should reward you for effort, yet not punish you for neglect.

Hopefully not. I think there should be extra benefits for people who put in more time and effort, without screwing over the people who can't play often. Like the farm should just cease to progress if you don't visit, but not go to hell.

I wasn't thinking about that, more about Harvest Moon TBH, but I see your point and I agree. It's all about customization and have a real feeling of identity in the game, don't you agree?

If they did that? I would never leave my manor lol. Sounds like a great idea, make beast master a DoW but give them the ability to tame animals for their manor. Would be epic.

This was done in FF11 except only with plants you had to take care of.

So Im totally up for SE to improve on what they did and make this happen

Totally can't wait to see what the Devs have planned for the housing system... I've seen Aion's player housing system and Runescape's Clan Housing System... both look nice but they have no personal Moogle that is traditional to the FF series.
