Priestesses and Nuns of Halone - Title?

Are Nuns sister or mother? Priestesses? Sister or mother? I don't know the nomenclature for the religious sects of Eorzea roles.

Never stated--the only female members of the Ishgardian church we see are from higher-up roles without gendered titles anyway. Funnily enough, as far as I know the only use of 'priestess' in the game comes from the GARO collab. 'Priestess' might be used, but it might also be worth considering that perhaps the church doesn't have gendered titles at all: maybe a female priest is just called a priest.

As for nuns, there's even less evidence of them: the male equivalents, friars, only really exist through the Halonic Friar's armor in the Vault, which at least implies they exist but doesn't give any hints as to if they have an equivalent role to Christian friars. I actually suspect that nuns might not exist, either at all or as we know them; real-world nuns come from an origin of both humility and sexism that Ishgard didn't really have.

I'm not sure, I cannot remember seeing any female clergy in the Church of Halone sadly so I cannot answer that question. Incidentally, the Church of Halone is the only fully established church of a member of the Twelve we've seen, other than a priest of Azeyma found in Camp Drybone in Thanalan (who again is male, and a Sea Wolf roegadyn to boot), and Ul'dah's church of Nald'thal, who again appear to only have visible male clergy.

There is also the Sanctum of the Twelve in the Black Shroud but that is more considered just a wedding chapel and not a place of actual worship, as far as I was aware - it was a pre Sixth Calamity structure that the Seventh Calamity revealed it's ruins and it's since been restored to it's former glory. And the female staff there just appear to have genderless or non-gender specific titles.

I want to say yes there is, but I just don't know.

There's a nameless female member of the Synod that appears in the EW caster role quest, Ystride in the DRK questline (I don't think she actually has a stated position, just a high one), and Sister Gaetelle of the Scholasticate, which incidentally answers that 'are they called sisters/mothers' thing. There's also a few prominent women in their history, including at least one female Azure Dragoon.

So there are female members of the clergy; we haven't met a lot, but it's never painted as unusual, or as following a different tradition to the men.

The Fist of Rhalgr was another organized group that worshipped one of the Twelve, but they're currently defunct-although there are still some extant members.

Going further off topic, Althyk appears to be the least mentioned of the Twelve, though the Bards of yesteryear appears to revere Him. But bards are probably as far from an organized group as you can get.

I know there was a Nun in camp drybone. They called her a nun at least. But I never heard a role title for men or women. Father? Brother?

I actually just checked (thankyou Gamer Escape), and while there is a single character called a 'nun', they're not in Camp Drybone: they're in the EW caster role quest, and have literally a single line. So there isn't a whole lot to talk about save that, evidently, nuns exist, although she wears clergy outfits indistinguishable from others.

I can confirm there are at least fathers: 'father' and 'brother' as religious titles are a much harder thing to search for, for reasons you can probably piece together, but at the very least I can confirm there's Father Bruvagnon from the Scholasticate. The fact he appears next to a 'sister' therefore implies that both 'mother' and 'brother' are in use as titles even if we never see it.

I've been reviewing this subject for separate reasons, and I think the 'least mentioned god' is a contest between Althyk and Byregot. They both only have two real (non-Myths of the Realm) mentions and no established followers, so it's a question of which you consider 'smaller': A gardening item and a PvP armor set, or a crafter skill and a nonessential location name.

Ourcen's not from the Halonic Church you were asking about; I believe that church is actually for Nald'thal, and everything we've got on Twelve worship in an organizational sense implies different structures, to the point where you can't assume one-to-one comparisons. (This is mostly evidenced by the difference between Halone worship in Ishgard and Nophica worship in Gridania, actually.) Also that just confirms 'sister' as a title, not 'nun' as an order, I don't think the Console Games Wiki actually has a citation for that 'Nun' profession, but that's sorta secondary.

But you have your answer separately: we've dug up both the confirmed existence of at least one nun, and the title 'sister', albeit not associated with said nun. I still suspect that whatever the Halonic Church calls a nun isn't one-to-one with a Christian nun, but that information genuinely just doesn't exist. I just noticed your home world, so I assume this is for roleplaying purposes, which means from there I'd just recommend 'make it up as you go'; for roleplayers a low amount of established facts is a positive, not a negative!

That priest of Azeyma is a hellsguard not a seawolf, his name is just in aerslanti instead of being translated like most hellsguard tend to do (Rammbroes and the owner of Amaljina and Sons are also untranslated). There's a seawolf in Gridania whose name is translated like hellsguard. Sorry, don't mean to be that person who's like "well ackshully" but the whole thing with roegadyn names where aerslanti names are considered seawolf names but names like Sleeping Oak and the like are considered hellsguard names kinda gets me. It's not really a clan thing, mostly personal preference.

But on topic: Dewlala of the Syndicate is also head of the Order of Nald'thal and holds the title of Prioress. The black mage trainer Lalai was also a member of the Order but was kicked out for reasons related to black magic use which the Thaumaturge's Guild, and by extension the Order, forbade. Following the lvl 80 black mage quest she is reinstated and is referred to by two different people as either prelate or sister. The guild receptionist is also technically part of the clergy but I don't recall if she was ever referred to with a title.

I'm pretty sure some crafter people have sworn by Byregot – I want to say specifically Brithael the blacksmith guildmaster, but I'd have to check scripts. Others might as well.

I recall a mention of "Prelate Yayake" at one point. Again I would have to go through scripts for it.
