It's nothing like telling someone to calm down. It's a video game.
Something something housing demolition
You hate the game, you've shown this enough times already, you bash the game on the daily, you write multiple novels because you don't like the story and you think what you write is better, you keep saying that the game is not keeping your interest anymore because it's not catering to you.
In your case and your context, take a break ain't even worth it, you hate the game so much that you should just quit imo, there is nothing for you here
There's literally only 2 people that I have told they honestly should just quit in over 2000 posts, you are one of the two, this game isn't for you my dude, stop trying to shape it to what you like with your made up stories, let the devs do their job and if you don't like it, just go
wow are you really trying to make an analogy ? In this forum ? :3
That being said i agree, telling someone that want more interesting stuff to do on ff14 to take a break and go play something else is completely out of touch.
That's some kind of Pavlovian reflex for some people at that point.
If you get angry for a videogame...
I prefer telling people to keep subscribing and bitching about it on the forums because it's been very effective thus far.
The reason they tell you to take a break is simple: they cannot handle any criticism. Their ego is tied to the game, and the moment you criticize the game, it's as if you personally insulted them. The lengths at which they go to harass, witch-hunt, and doxx criticizers, not to mention some who even sent death threats to those who criticize, says it all.
Just think of all the people making money from FF14 players, from fanart ($100 sometimes) to making mods (some of which is literally ripping assets from other games and selling it for $30), of all kinds, to streaming, and to other types of "activities" (like reselling houses on Omega for $800) while laughing at the horrid state of the game and its players in private. There are a lot of paypigs to exploit, this is well-known. People will pay $200 to make an ugly custom portrait for their in-game character to use on Discord because they're addicted to the game and to their character.
Vultures, perhaps? But while FF14 is becoming a joke of a game, the vultures are eating well.
In fact, the worse the game becomes, the better it is for the vultures, as players start to rely on third-party content, ToS-abiding or not, to continue engaging in the community. How many players in FF14 are only subbed because they paid $200 to make their custom IMVU character with custom ToS-violating bodies and poses?
It's totally valid, it is a reflection of how you feel about the game.
This just flies out of the window if you cannot keep it in check and start affecting others negatively with your attitude.
Then you have riots in the streets because your favorite sports team lost the match, which was a game about only kicking a ball into a box.
I really don’t have the energy to type out anything to make my point against the OP or the forum troll as Stormy has already done it and if I chimed in it wouldn’t be productive of my time or nicely written and I ain’t chancing a alt spam report lol
Normally, when someone close to you is dealing with an actual crisis, the smart thing it's to listen to their frustration, let them vent and, if possible, help them find a solution, in that order.
I don't know you.
I'm not your friend.
Nor your girlfriend.
Don't vent to me and to strangers if you don't like the solution. And you being burnt out with the game is not a crisis.

This is my first time using this forums, normally I just read and lurk but... Seeing Noumenon post after post embolden me to prove to you that moderation is still here on the forum.
I will never understand why people care about a pixel house in a game they no longer want to play. The day I tire of this game, my sub will go and so will my houses as they are pointless and useless if I don’t want to play. Already let a house go on a server I rarely play on. In the meantime, I still enjoy the game and am having fun.
I agree.
I realise I seem to bring up the fact that I played/quit another game prior to being introduced to FFXIV quite often, but the fact is, I was a little like Aveyond once. My distaste for what that game had devolved into did lead to me posting negatively on the official forums and social media attached to that game but, after a time, I realised that it wasn't achieving anything. It sure as hell didn't make me feel better about anything, the Devs and CM were infamous for having outright said (in a livestream) that feedback from the "vocal minority" on the game's forum/social media was ignored in favor of metrics. And whilst there were plenty of players who agreed/felt the same way... it just didn't matter. Their commitment to pumping out lootboxes and £300 bundles of items and only producing one new episode, worth about 45 minutes of play-time, every six months was never going to be dropped because their cherry-picked metrics told them what they wanted to hear.
So I quit that game, took up the recommendation to try FFXIV, felt better for it and haven't looked back. And I'm not saying that FFXIV is perfect. Not at all. But, as unpopular as 'whataboutism' may be here, I still feel that things could be far worse.
I mean you could say that, yes - However, in the same vein if you continually sit in a game that does not please you in any capacity, and has settled in a direction that you vehemently disagree with (Even after they have tried both) - Then it is entirely self-inflicted anger.
Ultimately, yes, people are capable of making this decision themselves, but at times people will wonder.
Telling an angry person to calm down depends on the person's temperament, so there's no 'universal reaction' to it. Some people do and some people dont. Plus it also depends on what they are angry about. Just like that person is trying to compare the two, telling someone to take a break doesn't always mean they've played other games or even tried different things entirely. Some people just dont want to admit that they are wanting something from this game that never existed to begin with, just like some angry people dont want to listen to advice at times. Why would anyone want to concede to someone thinking irrationally anyway? Too many holes in that person's argument.
it is exactly the same thing and if said person just took a break or calmed down the problem would be gone.
can't be upset at a game you aren't playing and can't be mad if you are calm.
Honestly the moment I discovered this game had housing, long before I joined, I knew it wouldn't be as nice and easy as it seems, so I researched and found out Housing in this game is akin to what I would find under a "kind" dictator and the hook to keep players logging in became evident, so I decided to save my gil for a little apartment. It's cozy, cheaper to decorate, and I won't have it taken away if I decide to take a break from the game. Housing feels like a pee-pee measuring contest at this point.
Actively telling people to not play your game leads to people actively leaving.
Hmmmm. . . what could possibly be the result?

So your comparing your rmt and botting to people paying to have art commissions of there characters and streamers getting paid to stream the game and modders and physical merchandise likes statues that square enix sells on there merchandise store. So i guess every publisher/production company selling physical merchandise for there films/music/video games are equivalent to your rmt services to exploit people. Basically your saying it's ok to rmt and exploit lazy players buying gil is ok because people get paid to stream the game or have art commissioned or square enix sells merchandise.
Sure, keep the sub going then
After all, we need a shining example to show why people who publicly announce their leave should never be taken seriously
The fact that aveyond returned and still actively participating is what gets me.
Dude didnt even return properly for like 7.0, just straight up came back in yet another content lul just to say "I told you so" but the statement itself is meaningless.
Its very clear that they just missed the drama and attention.

Here you go, Aveyond. Take the chance to turn XIV into whatever you envisioned in your fanfics- Sorry, essays.
I don't have much concrete proof to make but one of my friends found one of Titanman's reddit accounts and did a deep dive on him. I won't make any baseless claims here because it hasn't been proven true but if the dirt, I seen is true, then the rabbit hole of Titanman's RMT is much deeper and illegal than most would realize.
