Just like Dance Partner, once you use the spell it's there for the rest of the fight. The reuse will just change the position of the leylines. Would this make BLM broken? Easier? Better? Worse? What do you think?

Thanks, I hate it.
Would cause clipping issues when you have to activate it everytime you reposition yourself.
Would remove skill ceiling when you don't have to plan the usage anymore.
Would damage the feel of the job when it has constantly shorter cast times. At the moment BLM is the only job in the game which is usually slower than the GCD due to long cast times. And yes, some people prefer the slower pace.
It would definitely add a lot of utility, since you could setup a permanent teleport location for use with Between the Lines. That part I wouldn't mind, as that sort of stuff seems fun.
But it would also introduce even more pressure to always stand in one exact spot, because now optimal play doesn't just mean standing in one spot during Leylines windows, but for the full duration of the fight. Personally, I'm not a fan of that. I'd rather have "phases" of my Black Mage play that are more mobile and phases that are less mobile, rather than a single monolithic "stand right here" phase.
it's an interesting idea, but it needs something to compensate.
Maybe something like changing location of leylines will incur 60s cooldown or something
in a lot of the later fights the arena changes over time. this would just result in blm being even bigger floortanks than usual and sending themselves hurtling off edges and into insta-death spots.
No. Black Mage does not need to be any stronger.
I recall Yoshi-P once mentioning that they thought about having Ley Lines follow the Black Mage but I forget the exact reason why they didn't do it.
yoship already got a massive amount of flak for the time where it seemed (keyword: seemed) like he gave blms a super-giga buff in pvp immediately after releasing a bunch of housing/glam stuff that worked best on lalas and hroths/vieras (and partially au ra/roes) were screwed out of either from being too big or the equipment not appearing on them or other such nonsense that unfortunately coincided with the new housing lotto system immediately breaking. so he was already facing accusations for favouring lalas and rigging the housing system.
the pvp buff was so absurd it wasn't even funny and he even had to write a massive apology for it. can you imagine if they got unlimited leylines? the forums would explode.
probably the ability they have that allows you to teleport to your leylines to get to safety or to return to them faster after rushing out.
I personally would love it :)
But it would be probably OP and result in a nerf overall, so I must reluctantly decline to endorse it.
But I'd love it :)
Knowing SE, they'll probably just make it a passive just at lower %. Enochian used to be an active until it wasn't....
I genuinely miss this though because you had to juggle the refresh of it and got diminishing returns on the duration. It's probably for the best that it's not like that anymore but I loved it and wouldn't mind seeing us getting a weaker version of it as a personal buff on cooldown that you had to juggle refresh for with diminishing returns on power but that didn't lock you out of using your kit like it used to.
It would maybe dumb down BLM playstyle a bit.
However, I'd love if Leylines could leave some 'ley line residue' at the location that you activated it, so you could Between the Lines there on demand. Would add yet another strategic layer with LeyLines positioning.
Absolutely not, that would make it more annoying than Rune of Power on WoW (which finally got axed. Thank god). Let me keep the expression it brings.
Sounds like the kinds of braindead changes they're steadily applying to every other job in pve. Remove the skill ceiling and ruin the feel of the job for people who currently love it? 2 for 1 special, let's goooo. If Yoshi didn't main blm it'd be getting the smn/healer/brd/sam treatment tomorrow.
I honestly don't even understand why dance partner exists to begin with when most times I've seen dancers, they forget to use it to begin with. The whole problem would be solved with a dmg boost.
And the same would be the case with permanent ley lines, not to mention it would give yet another excuse for blms to be uncooperative when it comes to move out of the bad and, honestly, we don't need that (and I'm saying this as both blm and healer main).
Back mages just need to be smarter and cast lay lines on the bottom of their shoes, not the floor. That way they can move all the time and the circle will follow…. Lol
Sadly, this ain't Full Metal.
[I saw sadly, but who would actually want to live in a world, where the chance of being erased exists]
Leylines technically tap into specific sources of power that unfortunately our Footwear don't have in storage.
i think it would be cool if they made it (leylines) move with you when you use your zip to another player ability while standing in it, that would alleviate the issue of uptime with it, it would lower some skill ceiling yes, but i believe it then creates a new mechanic to plan and coordinate with party so you can create uptime.
