Beast master could save the overworld

I have seen countless complaints that rn the games overworld is not used. And as I was having a look back at some old games I played (pwi/wow) I noted we have not got a beast master class. The execution of those classes in other games made me think... why haven't they implemented this yet.

Were they to... B.M could be used solely to tame overworld enemies, have its own dailies like masked carnival that happen on the map. A unique pet only hotbar with skills that change depending what you tame, Pvp battles with other pets and even let u ride/ pet them. Oh and... please god a whip.. I need a game with whips I miss it since my runescape days

In the new remake of ff7R you can see similar interactions between cloud and the chocobos. Seeing how popular this class is in other mmo. I can't understand why it's not been implemented but.. perhaps with going to tulal there's hope.. those tribal peoples may use it themselves and it could be a chance to learn it

Overall. The games overworld is DEAD content and its something that doesn't let ffxiv feel like a real mmo. After talking with my bf about my issues with 14. He advised me to try wow classic as it may have what I am looking for. Its a crazy reality rn where this game is in such bad shape that I'd quit it for wow. But.. I think some few will also go there, my choice being based on that. If its ffxivs inspiration, perhaps it has the stuff in ffxiv I wish ffxiv had.. like meaningful grind and engaging combat.

Anyway. These are my thought. Wat do u think? Do we need a beast master? Skill trees like in wow to expand job diversity. Wat can ff do now to help itself. Or is it to late?

The entire MMO landscape is a dumpster fire, do you really want to jump from a garbage dump into the next?

The only reason to play any MMO is to ERP in 2023.

it would be a cool class, but lets not kid ourselves, it wouldnt really do anything but delay the overworld form being barren for more or less a week, otherwise BLU would have this niche cornered, i give it all of 2 days before its so min maxed in to a reddit spreadsheet that even the most casual player can check all the boxes in an evening.

but having a class taht gets a useful pet would be sweet

I'm not interested in more limited jobs, I'd be more interested in the overworld simply not being so much of a pushover and be viable for levelling with strong enough enemies/field objectives like in FFXI.

Hunts.

FATEs.

Tribal quests.

Treasure maps.

Mining, Botany, Fishing.

Can't forget all the players working on MSQ and doing the side quests.

All of it open world content.

WoW Classic's open world isn't really any different. The only big difference would be WoW Classic does have world PvP. For those who enjoythat, they're going to like WoW's open world better. Otherwise, I'd stick with FFXIV's open world because having a bunch of PvPers descend on where you're trying to quest, killing off your quest givers and using buggy AoE exploits to get you involuntarily flagged so they can kill you is not fun.

As for Beastmaster specifically. I have no objections to adding it but I suspect it would end up like BLU mage, too restricted.

It is viable for leveling. FATEs can be extremely strong XP in the later expansions with the various bonus mechanics. It's not going to match the XP you get from a Leveling or MSQ roulette bonus but it will beat queuing for a dungeon directly.

There are simply not enough enemies in the overworld. When farming animal skins one person alone can occupy the entire source of a specific skin for the whole server for example.

The game world is not designed to interact with it on a regular basis outside of fates. And shoe-horning it in will lead to frustration.

no reason beast master couldnt facilitate that

XIV is VASTLY overrated.

It is not as good or bad as people say. Despite my entire moniker being XIV BLU (More of a meme of how terrible the job is), XI is, and will always be their best online game. Pending who is working on the next FF one.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over, expecting a diff result. After XVI, and XIV actually being the top mmo only to meteor dive down to earth....it is safe to say we will have a new face or head of their next mmo project; regardless of how badly he wants to work on another one. SF should not have surpassed XVI within a week since you don't even have to buy it to play it.........Anyway....since I mentioned BLU or limited jobs.....

As for my favorite class BST? Still feel it should not be a class, but an expanded Chocobo companion system in which the player can tame and find more creatures to level and add to their companion stable. With everything going on with SE over the years, idk if you would want a new class from this regime.....

Given how SMN has changed, they could easily go the 'temp pet' route. Give it a wolf/tiger/boar or whatever that either do a move/give a buff/smack stuff for a bit and poof after (like mch queen). People just need to accept that Yoshida doesn't like pets (or at least likes to deal with pet AI), so them being essentially aesthetics will never change.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I ... actually agree? But yeah. That ship has long sailed. In XI you were happy to see other players, in XIV you always want to be alone unless you interact with someone through a menu. It's two extremes with zero compromise.
