Also from the UK and right now the game is impossible to play from constant r0, not sure what is causing it or how to solve it, but this is the first connection issue I've had with the game before.
Same issue here. Particularly bad today but I have seen this get worse over the last few months.
i've had no issues like this before, feel like something has broken...
A lot of people in my EU shell on Ragnarok are having this issue too. :(
This is proper Bullsh*t, me and my LS were at AV on miser's mistress and half our pt (the EU players) all r0! >_< proper messed up our runs. any1 know wtf is goin on? other ares in the game seem to be fine apart from coerthas.
Yep it's so awesome that I'm making a game out of how many disconnections I can count in a day, and its double digits so far. Good times! T_T
Most likely routing issues between europe and japan. There might not be much SE can do about it. Except, of course, putting servers in Europe.
In my LS a lot of UK people had issues. Rest of EU people were fine.
It's not the "server" who have issues, but the path your line is taking to reach SE's servers which is completely different.
If we get EU servers, they will most likely be located in the UK since European SE is in the UK. So UK players wouldn't have any routing issue, because UK>UK is fine.
I'm not talking about the servers.
When the distance between two places increase, so does the chance of problems occuring within the infrastructure connecting the two. Shorter distance (fewer nodes) reduce chances, that's just how it is. Nothing is guaranteed in this world, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't minimize the chances of bad stuff happening.
Not just the UK. Connectivity issues within Europe are pretty rare between countries too. For me to reach UK servers, I would go through a lot fewer network nodes than if I want to reach JP nodes. It's pretty obvious that if I need to pass through 100 network devices, there is a lot higher chance of one of them having a problem than there is if I only need to pass through 15.
Before it turns into another "we need regional servers" thread, EU here too and no problems so far. An EU ls mate was having r0 all day yesterday though.
Different ISPs have different routing agreements. It is entirely possible that one European ISP doesn't make use of the malfunctioning node that a different ISP did use.
As said, it's a chance that's always there for every user in the world, but the closer you are to whatever you're connecting to, the fewer problems you will have, statistically.
I am UK and not had any problems, just lots of crashes after the last patch.
Uk was hitting a huge lag wall in France when I did a trace over to a JP server, and several in the region a few hours ago so meh.
Probably just a connection issue, for a change I don't blame SE...
The lag on the other hand well yes that is SE having servers in JP but what ya gona do ay..
On regional servers, I would prefer it in some ways, but I like the diversity and servers always being active.
Def wouldn't want region locked servers though.
Hmm... Regional servers just for some content based on where most people in the group are... wonder if that's workable.
I was kicked out of an ifrit run right before we won, most annoying, but only happened to me once.
ya happened to me too. BT connection here, connection was fine except to game, kept getting timeout error's.
yup I was r0ing a great deal yesterday. from UK on virgin ISP
I had a lot of issues yesterday too. I got error 30002 about 3 times and had the patch client fail to connect once too.
Seen 2 people post their ISPs, connectivity problems believe it or not aren't always SE's fault, if everyone who is having problems posts their ISP, it helps SE, there is no point in SE checking things if its an ISP problem. If it is an ISP problem people will have to call their ISP, because there is nothing SE can do.
2 years ago Talktalk kicked every UK player from FFXI for 2 weeks, and us playing hell on the TT forums resolved the issue eventually. I'd suggest players with problems comparing ISPs, and attempting to connect using VPNshield. If you can get on with that, then it's the ISP portblocking what's needed for FFXIV, the same way Talktalk did for us with XI.
