how often do you have to login?

So I have been considering spending more time in my space, going out and hanging with the type of people that I can talk to about stuff we all agree on, and relate to. However, I want to get my weekly caps/make sure I don't lose anything. It started coming to me two nights ago that maybe I should stay more within my space and group of people I can relate to and talk to without either getting upset or w/e else. So anyone know how much we have to get on to cap/make sure we don't lose anything and maintain things like island? Looking for a number of days a week type thing that way I can work on balancing.

As far as your island goes, you won't lose anything. Not even your captured creatures or crops you might have been growing at the time. All of it will be there when you get back, regardless of how long you've been gone. If you are looking for constant uptime though for progress, once or twice a week to check it all and get orders going for the next cycle would probably be sufficient.

As it relates to tomes, you could cap them in an hour by doing reset hunt trains. That's the quickest way. Regarding Island Sanctuary, there is a method available from the "Overseas Casuals" group (the authoritative source for all things Island Sanctuary) that lets you manage the Island Sanctuary for the week in five to ten minutes, once per week. Ultimately, there are too many variables and without knowing your particular circumstances, like and dislikes, it's impossible to give an appropriately prescriptive answer. All of that aside, video games should be fun, a hobby that you enjoy in moderation. While you're playing FFXIV, do things in the game that you enjoy. If you're playing FFXIV and you stop having fun, turn it off and go do something else.

For weekly tomes, you could log in once a day, do an Expert roulette, log out, and be done in five days for very little time. It's probably the least time invested in a single sitting for it.

I'm an adult man who works a warehouse and lifts five times what an average MMO player can. If I'm not working and lifting, relaxing and lifting and eating and lifting, I'm enjoying my half an hour a night of free time.

Adulthood will sneak up on you too.

I mean your work casual balance is going to depend on how much you work days you work when you get together with people and so on. Like me at 37 I've really tired of seeing people now and I don't like to go out if I don't have to. I prefer to do my job at work, go home shower and all that then relax watching TV or playing video games. My Fc is small, so I log on to set the actions for people if not already set, we log on for our events Thursday -Sat. I'll get on with my girlfriend wants to level her warrior but depending on how much I play and stuff depends on the day I work 4 days a week 10 hours a day, I also had a paid off day yesterday being labor day, show my FC also it started up an immersive valheim server (which I'm slowly falling behind on lol)

If you want the fastest way to get your tomes. Hunt trains are the way to go. Do a train 3 times in a week and you're done. And a train takes like 25 minutes if you count the boarding times.
Otherwise expert roulette like someone else mentioned.
