Botanist's can grow things too.

Will we be able to have a garden or something akin to the XI style indoor pots in the future? (Oh yeah, when or when we get player housing.) It is not a top priority atm I understand as you have the huge looming beast of a battle system to tame and how players in NA will really be able to enjoy this game sans the lag. But it's just a thought on how to expand on some of these boring disciple of the land classes.

Not a bad idea, but I'd rather see a gardening for an entire new class unless they can add a side feature for miners/fishers to.

Fisher can have fish inside and they grow them :) that be pretty sweet also. They buy or fish up eggs then leave them in the fishtank and wait for them to get big then sell,eat,make something out of them or stop them with the fishtank and you have it as a decorating like you can do with the flower in FFXI some weird stuff that make them stop growing.

now mining i have no idea what you can do for that lol

You can build a zen garden with special rocks and sand you can mine! Or pet rocks. :D

lol well problem is in FFXI garden sometime you get rocks and ore to make The high level staff and so on.

Maybe garden can be a class of it own? that help both mining and grow stuff?

I'm all for gardener being a class in it's own right, or alternatively for any class to be able to do gardening.

I would love the ability to plan and grow things, if not inside a type of mog house / linkshell house then perhaps on patches of land outside the city, "greenhouse" areas inside the city, etc. :)

I want to grow Moko Grass if you get what I mean, jk jk, on a more serious note, would love to ability to grow on any class or a new class, just give it to us when we have some form of housing that would be cool.

I would love growing in the game but I doubt it would work as a stand alone class. Being that growing will(and should) take a bit of time as it did in FFXI it would be nearly impossible to balance as far as leveling goes. It would either be near impossible to level or would be leveled far to quickly making it useless as everyone would do it. The only real way it would work is via Botanist.

The obvious way to balance that out is to have a similar activities on the other gathering classes. Fishing could have some kind of different fishing type(perhaps a way of going after very large fish that is different then normal fishing) and while I can't think of anything for Miner I'm sure either someone or SE could.

It just doesn't make sense to make gardening it's own class. Barring adding it as a another thing for BTN they should just add it as a random thing for everyone to do regardless of class like it was in XI.

Would be neat, but not easily balanced. Also the Dev's would have to setup a "Moghouse" or a "Warehouse" type instance. Doubt we would garden in the pockets or the bazzars.

So something like this then:

DoW "Armory"
DoM "Mushroom Hut"
DoH "Workshop"
DoL "Greenhouse"

for each to put our items and the things we collect, grow, and create ... its a possibility yes.

I like the idea of a gardening class. Used to love growing my ores and gathering saplings in 11.

I dream of an Eorzea where miners actually mine in mines and caves, botanists can also maintain their own garden, and fishers can work a small fishery (perhaps pulling up two really rare fish -> put in fishery -> baby fish farm :3)

Diversity for the win!

Miners can layout the landscape of the garden/tank. Say building a lizard cage for your house! Miners can design the rocky/sandy ecosystem it needs. botanists can design the floral aspects and fishers can build aquariums or such!!

I want my lizard tanks!

i think if gardening is implemented it should be some sort of mini game for all class, but Bot taking a big part of it. something like ALL classes can have gardenenig pots, only Botanist can aquire Seed from the field nodes, also Bots have an ability tha benefits them in gardening ( higher yields , more changes to get Hq items ).

I like your post but I have to say No about sharing with other classes for growing things, for now anyway. [maybe if greenhouses, inside or outside gardens, etc were available every class could enter and partake, but only Botanist's could work there. ]

Why do I say No? Think is we call are selves Gatherers maybe because we know somewhere deep inside what we have been doing until now is Not Botany At All, more like a Woodsman or lumberjack Gathering Class. I'm not sure about everyone else but I think most would agree. Botanist gather "Lumber/Wood" & "Feathers" etc.. but that's not correct, these is botany right?, gathering should be towards "Flowers" & "Plants" etc.

I have be waiting patiently for the "Botanist" to blossom and grow to what it should been from the start : The Study and Understanding of All Plant-Life; Activities are towards; Studying, Discovery, Researching, Nurturing, Resource Gathering, Growing new Trees&Plants, Plants/Flowers, Attraction of Trees/Plant Essences, Herbs/Medicines, etc. Both for Gathering And Botany. There are Resources Gathering but that's a woodcutting, it not right.

It's the Tools, and the Knowledge we hold that limits the fantasy, the class becomes defined, if only there were more options, or and the current tools had more usages.

As for Potting what would DoM/DoM/DoH need it for?, however I could understand as a DoW/DoM wanted to have gil pots or magic pots;( lol Magic Pot), is that it?. [also switch Tools and their you have it your a gatherer.]

Well, a good way to make things even between all 3 DoL would be BTN having gardening, where he can harves exclusive stuff, FSH having aquarium, where he can grow exclusive fishes (more like a piscine) and MIN having an archeological rock, where you can extract stuff like old eggs, fossils, ambers and all kind of exclusive jurassic park stuff =P
