Yoshi P calling everybody 'Warriors of Light' in his speeches ruins my day

There is only one real Warrior of Light (myself)

And he needs to change his ways because, seriously, it is pooping all over the storyline.

Not everybody and their mum can be Warriors of Light. The story doesn't allow it.

Does Yoshi no longer care about lore?

Just call us 'players' instead. Not WoLs.

But I'm the Warrior of Light, he should stop calling you it.

Actually I wish the story would treat us as more generic accomplished adventurers than demigods with impossible powers. It does ruin immersion a bit because you can't be normal. Or blend in.

I'd rather have my character seen and treated as a nobody in the story to be honest.

Warrior of Light is now a pronoun.

Honestly this is closer to the truth than not. The ARR story begins by revealing that there were numerous Warriors of Light at the Battle of Cartineau, but everyone has forgotten who they were. Over time, your specific character is acknowledged as one of those Warriors of Light. And from that point on, they use that term to refer to you, broadly because they can't get voice-acting that actually calls you Silvia Thighborn or Buttpants Mustardface. It's the same thing as how in Elden Ring they call you Tarnished, in Warframe they call you Tenno, etc.

Well it depends. If you have a legacy char who completed the gc quest line in 1.0, you are acknowledged as that same WoL.



If your char is not that, you are acknowledged as "a" WoL, but not the same ones from before.

How did you know the names of my alt characters? :)

I always like how Animal Crossing villagers audibly vocalize your character name using the strange language (Animalese) that they speak. We'll likely get AI character name pronunciation eventually in RPGs but it probably won't be good at first.

But since my main character's nickname is an abbreviation for a slang exclamation/euphemistic oath used in cutscenes, I already get it pronounced from time to time.

That is how WoW does it though and it really does suck to feel like your character is just a hanger-on for the real movers and shakers in the setting. It is kind of nice when people don't realize we're the Warrior of Light and get us to do some mundane thing, but it is also nice to be acknowledged as the person who was pivotal to events.

That's really up to opinions though, doesnt change the fact that person just hates Blizzard and WoW in general, it aint their only post hating on it, but the whole "i'm the hero" or "i'm just a pleb" is really down to opinion, in one case you are the savior and in the other you are just a random dude doing tasks for someone, I dont care much about it personally

Funny enough, alot of the Ideas people think will improve FFXIV.....is to basically turn it into WoW.
At this point, some people here REALLY believe that would make the game better, so now its like...screw it, do it, and lets see if it works.

Not even being cute about it, I legit am just curious now if these ideas really even would work in a game like FFXIV, since people keep suggesting to do things / stealing things from WoW.
Will it actually improve the game, will people enjoy it and stick with it, will it increase the playerbase, is it this big fix the game needs to do to be....whatever people are trying to make it?

The story makes it very explicit in Shadowbringers that the player character is not the only WoL. Is this one of your weird takes like "wearing another job's gear will kill you" again?
