Let's now watch the simps have a collective meltdown once again and mass report threads they don't like.
- Since U won't have completed 6.45 yet and with 6.5 just coming .. U can't complain about "no content" 'til 7.0 tho.
And U surely got nothing left to do about content since ARR. -
That's what people should think about before new addons gonna be launched.
Plus, there are plenty of people not playing 24/7 so they got much more left to do I guess.
Thought the last patch dropped in January, with the expansion releasing in summer... meaning about six months which is a half a year and not a whole year. Meaning this is a troll / bait thread for attention / drama. Also other video games exist, if FF14 is the only exclusive game you can play idk what to tell ya then, that sounds like self sabotage. And in b4 my $15 a month, one can unsub to "take a break" at any given time, no one forces anyone to do anything. I don't understand the massive amount of attention seeking and hate dishing out, is this truly the pinnacle of ones life to complain they are bored with absolutely nothing to do?
Why no content? The forum is up for you 24/7!
You know what I did when I ran out of things to do in this game?
Looked at my over 1000 game library and picked one of them.
Went out to the real world and drank with friends.
Travelled the world.
Learned new skills.
Pick one. Start with that. This is a game. Not a life.
I mean
You could do the same to simps and white knight alike.
Not only do you get to prove your side represents the voice of many, you build a better platform for like-minded civilized individuals to gather and enjoy the fruitful discussion you will be having.
Unlike Twitter( X ) and Reddit, FFXIV Official Forumis known to be a haven for people who are critical about the game (or games made by CBUIII). Your power here is overwhelming, unmatched and invincible.
If the mere number of YDF, Yoshi-p Defense Force, on the forum can succeed in “mass” reporting. I have great confidence that you can do it, too, and with grace and ease.
I also would love to observe the upcoming power struggle it might ensue.
Unfortunately it's pretty normal for there to be an extended patch lull after the final patch before an expansion, but it gives you chance to finish off things that you didn't previously without feeling another patch will steal your attention from it.
So much downtime may even be able to crack the Riemann Hypothesis
there is that free to play MMO Blue Protocol I'm looking to try it out
I mean...you guys here have to feel for Titanmen. A year without any big updates means less RMT for him! How will he pay his dozens of accounts? Who but not him will buy all the boosters from the store so he can make gil to money?
Have a heart for goldsellers!
I mean there are many other video games to play in the mean time.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
There are so many other games comming out, I'm honestly kind of glad we have to wait for around a year. Gives me enough free time to catch up on my steam wish list as well ^_^. This is fully in line with the FFXIV design philosophy. And over the years, I started to really appreciate this choice in direction more and more.
While it is a bit disappointing the development cycle is very slow compared to the two year cycle, 2023 has/had an overwhelming number of games that I’m interested in. I’m overwhelmed by this year's releases so selfishly the delay works fine for me. 70 hours into 16 and not even done my first play through and who knows how long BG3 will take me. Also have the new Mortal Kombat preordered and didn’t even get to other games that came out this year.
Almost glad Diablo 4 bored me quickly in some ways as I can’t imagine my gaming backlog if that ended up being addicting.
While first two posts are known trolls...if the lack of content seems like an issue for people, those people need to decide if the sub is worth it(even taking into account if they have a house). If not, then don't keep an active sub until you decide it's worth paying for. Simple as that.
I much rather have a "dead" MMO I can afk in, or log in for dailies/weeklies while I can still enjoy other games, than be chained down to just one game to devote all my time to.
But you idiots prefer to shitpost about it being "dead".
It appears that they have to keep up with all delayed work due to FFXVI. And it will take a whole year to comply with it, focusing only on 7.0. So, no 6.6 or 6.7 meanwhile.
MSQ Pt1(About as much as normal patch) & Pt2 (Prologue for expansion)
Trial/Ex
Varient/Criterion
24m
Allied Tribe
Tataru
Hildi
Additional Trial (Asura)
Relic Weapons
Relic Craft/Gather
Crossover Fall Guys
Crossover FFXVI (Yoshi P in talks with Yoshi P, info later this year, but are shooting sometime before 7.0)
Think thats about it, a healthy chunk of content but yeah not enough to last like 3/4 of the year for most folks, all good plenty of great games out this an next year.
I actually played the game, and beat most of what I want from it. Hell, there's content I haven't even touched yet (Most of the Gold Saucer, Unreals, Ultimates, etc).
You can't expect a game to constantly spit out new content. We get a delayed launch for 7.0, and that sucks, but don't act like other expansions weren't "dead" after the x.5 patches either.
I don't think anyone is expecting constant new content - it's unrealistic. But the release cadence has definitely slowed down from the schedule XIV has been on in the past, and while the game is still doing well - it's never a good sign. Kind of like how ESO is selling a quarter of no new content as "quality of life" instead of just saying there is less content.
I think one theme is that people relied on not only the game staying to it's old schedule, but also the relic grind to occupy them during the lulls. Longer patch cycles + no real grind this time on the relic is leaving people bored faster than usual.
On one hand, true. On the other, we both know that even if we got another Bozja/Eureka people would probably find something else to complain about.
Not excusing the longer developement cycle, hell I was hoping to get 7.0 by December 2023 at the latest, but it is what it is. Either unsub and come back closer to 7.0 or find something else to do in game, there's tons of optional content to keep oneself occupied. Maybe it's just me being old, but MMOs have always been like this, cycles of "alive" and "dead" moving alongside patches.
You either hang on through player events/optional content, or cycle through MMOs/Other games.
You see me take the W place. Meanwhile the other players will get L ratio on ff14 fall guys.
Patch 2.0 | Release Date: August 27, 2013
Patch 3.0 | Release Date: June 23, 2015 (Less than 2 years)
Patch 4.0 | Release Date: June 20, 2017 (2 years)
Patch 5.0 | Release Date: July 2, 2019 (2 years)
Patch 6.0 | Release Date: December 7, 2021 (2 years and 5 months)
Patch 7.0 | Release Date: Summer 2024 (2 years and X months)
So, while the summer months was their prior release dates, between Endwalker and 7.0 there is an entire extra year of waiting compared to 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0.
Necessary evil really. Covid and Endwalker threw things out of whack. If they had tried to release this past summer, I don't think it would have gone well. And a winter release would keep us in the bad timeline and not get things back to the normal summer release schedule.
I agree that a summer 2023 release would probably have resulted in a flimsy expansion given 6.0's release date, but I am disappointed that 2 and a half years rather than 2 years being the new normal. I hope we have a return to form for 8.0 and that is released Summer 2026. Else, we'll just have content spread out for longer periods of time like was felt the current era.
You know, with how apathetic people were when SE increased the length of a patch while not including more content to make up for it, I wouldn't be surprised if 2.5 years per expansion became the new standard. After all, a good portion of the playerbase won't care, so why not do something that saves SE effort and money as the cost of the playerbase?
Maybe in a few expansions they'll increase it to 3 years and we'll get the same people trying to defend it by saying "it's only half a year more than normal".
I don't know why, I understood when they announced the extra two weeks per patch that this was in order to make 6.5 shorter by those extra weeks, so they would be releasing 7.0 in mid to late spring.
Well, I guess it gives the staff a bit more time to breathe.
Now that I'm only back every 45 days to keep my house, I don't mind that much as I play whatever came out during my absence and I have dropped savage raiding, but I do feel sympathy for anyone playing daily until 7.0, especially as .5 patches usually aren't that great content-wise.
