Kill a scion or send him/her far far away for 7.0. It worked with Minfilia and Lyze though...
i would love a dark twist to all this positivity themed expansion.
an ARR ending that quickly dispatches the scions... But this time for real and going actual places.
Graha Tia
10
We tried...
...but Y'shtola always came back. :(
One of the twins, since Y'shtola won't stay down. Maybe Alphinaud so Alisaie has to lament him.
Tie Graha Tia to the Ragnarok and send it directly to the sun
RIP Hoary Boulder, you flexed too close to the sun.
Note lack of Zero.
We haven't seen the full trailer and we haven't seen Krile (*sigh*) yet either, despite the hype around her increased importance.
6.1 was the perfect opportunity to shake up the main cast and 7.0 was the next best opportunity they had. Yet, they ignored it both times. I think it will simply never happen for the next 10 years.
They saw the success of Shadowbringers, so everything from now on will follow the same template until it doesn't work anymore.
I suggested that they kill off Sylvanus and Thrall, but nobody at Activision-Blizzard would take my calls after that.
Given that attitude, why should one of the Scions die?
I just don't see Zero... living it up on this island. Either we're probably leaving her behind somewhere or she's gonna be killed.
I never understand why people seem to be out for blood regarding the Scions. Sure, killing off a character can be good for dramatic reasons, but it can also be lazy and forced. I for one liked that Endwalker ended on a positive note regarding our main cast, its a story about hope after all, and would rather they get retired then knocked off. That way they can come back if needed, there are still arcs and stories they can tell.
Save an expansion : Kill a scion :3
Can I sacrifice Thancred to bring back Papalymo?
I would get rid of most of them. We've spent 10 years with the scions, it's time for a new slate in my opinion. I would keep Y'shtola on board just because she has the unfinished bit with traveling back to the First / finding out a way to travel to other shards, but other than that I wouldn't mind if some Scions went away. Not necessarily died but take a long break away from the MSQ.
Any/all. But if I had to ration it, G'raha and Krile.
I've been saying for ages they should rotate/retire some of the Scions but keeps others around.
For example, have Thancred die in Shadowbringers instead of the pointless fake out they did and let Ryne pick up the Gunblade in his place. This opens up a new potential arc for her while keeping a familiar face we've spent most of Shadowbringers with. How does she go back to the first? Make up some excuse that lets her travel to the Source but necessitates someone else staying behind. Now we can let Y'shtola rest for a while. I'd also shuffle out Urianger allow more focus on new characters alongside the remaining Scions. With Endwalker concluding, you could then have Alphinaud step back, perhaps to help Sharlayan embrace a more open diplomatic approach. Makes perfect sense for his father to ask for Alphinaud's worldly experience while being a nice full circle moment to his Crystal Braves arc. Allaise could maybe stick around but I'd be tempted to give her an expansion off too.
The whole idea is not to toss the Scions away wholesale and never mention them again but to give us a chance to actually miss them. Four years without Y'shtola being a main characters let het come back and have a genuinely big moment because we wouldn't have seen her for a long time. Whereas nowadays, all I do is roll my eyes whenever they try to sell a dramatic moment of her "sacrificing" herself because she's done it four damn times.
A lot of these characters are done developing and could've been left behind at best, or killed at worst. If Graha had died in 5.3, he could have gone out as a hero with a tragic end. Since he lived, he's basically done a cool gravity save in endwalker, and in the new trailer he's eaten a taco for the fangirls. It's like this for most of these characters. They're done, but they stick around because fans would be sad if they died. But they persist in these zombie forms that just spout memes for us to record in webm/gif format and don't do a whole lot of substantial development. Meanwhile, characters with room to develop have to compete for screentime with characters who could've been written out for a season without affecting the story at all.
Don't get me wrong, I don't particularly mind if these characters live. But if they're going to stick around, I wish the writers would do something interesting with them on a personal level. Having Thancred stick around just to be like "This is Thancred!" for the fans is so shallow and cheesy compared to the Thancred in ShB who was struggling hard with his guilt surrounding Minfilia and dumping a ton of his personal issues onto Ryne. Like, remember when these people had demons to work through? lol. Now they just eat tacos and drink punch, it's so stupid. Why are they here? What do they even want on a deep personal level? What are they doing to accomplish that? Do we even care anymore? It doesn't seem like it. Everyone's just here for the meme screenshot. Haha, Yshtola said she'd spank us! Can't wait to react to that on twitter!
G'raha Tia drinks the water and eats a Big Fat Taco in South America and dies from horrific diarrhea.
No, though she was basically written out of the story - for now, at least. How long it takes for her to return (if ever) remains to be seen.
Dragonflight has been fairly refreshing in terms of getting a break from Sylvanas, Anduin and Jaina. I even quite like the latter two for the most part, but familiarity can breed contempt and that's something FFXIV doesn't appear to grasp.
i hoped the twins would stay in sibiria... uhm... garlemald
Dont know if she is considered a Scion, but Kill off Zero.
She looks cool, but I still have No Attachment towards her, and if this is her Entire Personality, then Im good seeing her gone. Only way to make me care about her at this point is to go Full Minfillia --> Ryne and make her a different person with a Real Personality and maybe an actual Name.
A new outfit with some color would be nice to, even our Boy Estinien as dry as he is has a Personality and some Color.
Id say Kryile, but she apparently is gona play a bigger role here in 7.0, and I dont find her dull or uninteresting...more like....we just havent SEEN what she can do yet. And Id love to see her DO more.
Kill G'raha.
Be careful what you wish for. Destiny players said they wanted a darker theme game and the devs killed the coolest character in the game.

As requested, I have laced this burger with a deadly poison. His days are numbered.
They might also have left her out of the trailer so it's not incredibly obvious that she survives whatever happens in 6.5 unscathed.
The scions are practically animated corpses of characters that are dragged around on strings because a portion of the fanbase would get upset if one of them were retired or killed, even if it would be better for the story objectively. Some of us are sick of watching these meat puppets rot away and want to see something new and fresh.
I want lice to die, i mean lyse.
Personally feels like alot of these characters are just being used to resurge FOMO and have lost meaning after the last major arc finished at the tip of Endwalker. A death could be a nice could be nice touch but might be hard for the writers set it up enough where the community will accept it at this point.
The scion I wanted dead has been dead since the end of HW so I'm happy.
It's just weird to have a group of people...talented or not...and have them go into battle after battle with huge stakes on the line and not as much suffer one casualty. It really takes the danger out if you know for a fact everyone is coming out better than when they went in.
Just my two cents, but... the thing about killing a character in fiction is, if you're going to do it properly, their death has to serve a narrative purpose. It should change the circumstances of the story, or trigger a new arc, or spark a dramatic change in another character or something. If it's just done for the sake of "drama" or a "dark" moment, it's kind of meaningless. "This character has nothing to do" is not a reason to kill them, it's a reason for them to simply step away from the spotlight for a while.
OMG, that would be the most heartbreaking thing of all. You kill one, you have basically killed the other because they will just be emotionally dead.
I'm honestly worried they're going to kill her off, because A) I feel like she could really become interesting as she develops and tries to build a new life, B) killing off a character that quickly is a cheap move because they're "disposable," and C) it's also lame and predictable considering they already used that trick in ARR.
That's actually EXACTLY what I want for Zero, to have a big turnaround and a new identity, complete with a new outfit and an REAL name. I don't have a problem with there not being much to her right now, because she's basically not even "alive" yet. She has to be reborn, but that can't happen overnight. It's going to have to happen gradually, although there can be some big dramatic moments that push her forward. Like you said, look at how Estinien has turned out, how his friendship with Alphinaud has developed. It's awesome! Zero should a chance to do something like that too, she could become an amazing character.
You know, I was never a huge fan of Papalymo but in retrospect I would have liked to see his take on events and see how he could have contributed to the story in all the content he missed out on. I guess he and Y'shtola would sort of be tripping over each other for relevance as the "stoic scholar of the arcane," but maybe that could have played into a friendly rivalry or something.
Don't you dare touch my burger boi!
The moment they fully replace the Scions will be the moment yall complain about the new characters being bad. Same for the folks asking for a story break and a full new adventure. SE listened and is giving us DT yet yall are already mad after a teaser trailer...this crap is old.
Toyota beat you do it. Scion brand has been gone a few years... >.>
YoshiP has heard your request and will be killing off your Adventurer Squadron. It's even more dramatic, because you're so much more invested in them.
I'm not sure they'll ever kill any of the "main" group now, too many people would get upset/annoyed.
Oh with this I 100% agree. The faux deaths at the end of Endwalker where by far my least favorite aspect of the story, and frankly whilst I do love ya Y'shtola but if she throws herself into the lifestream again for the third time I am gonna just leave her there.
Hmm, apologies, mayhap my choice of words where wrong. Better perhaps to just say I disagree with the conclusions people come up with then haha.
