Yoshi P. destroyed it.
I'm very sad. :(
And that's a good thing!
Blitzball should be a big deal, a world wide phenomenon with grand arenas and national teams not some underground sport nobody cares about.
This is impossible on the Source at this point.
No, Blitzball has to be from a different shard where it's a big deal.
Will never have Blitzball, he clearly hates it. :(
I mean Blitzball could have been a big deal in Not-north america where there could have been a surprisingly highly civilized hidden area that hosts blitzball games like FF8's Esthar - it's just clear that they don't want to implement it. The Teaser trailer almost had me with the ocean shot being VERY FFX
But they could introduce a new sport though called Thalsballs but that would spark a whole new level of memery...
I mean, in fall guys you're basically a sentient blitzball trying to avoid being beaten around by obsticles and other sentient blitzballs, right?
Add it as a minigame in Gold Saucer. Similar to triple triad where you can play against another player.
Just pretend the new fall guys crossover is blitzball, I guess...?
Here, have some copium from 2017

All he meant this time was that the Fall Guys thing isn't Blitzball, not that they aren't ever adding it!
Meh. Leave Blitzball out of FFXIV. Instead have them make Blitzball it's own standalone game where they can actually flesh it out properly.
thank god, I hate blitzball xD
Glad they have never added blitzball I never did like it. Not sure how it would even work in FFXIV unless they have constant spring allowed it in. You would move to slow underwater to even play it.
Just something that came to mind reflecting on how clunky the underwater swimming controls in game feel to me. I just don't see the configuration of FFXIV's game engine making a worthwhile Blitzball experience. It would probably feel like a step backwards from playing it in FFX.
maybe the next FF MMO will have the engine to make a true blitzball experience, I don't see it working correctly on this old engine
Man I played more Blitzball than I did the actual content of FFX. Seriously spent too much time getting crap for Wakka (that's how it's spelled right?). I found out early you get XP for completed actions so as soon as I got the ball I would swim to my nearest teammate and quick pass between them several times until a defender got close and then I'd hail mary pass to Ditto or whatever his name was or Tidus for an easy goal. Rinse and repeat the entire round and I would level several times per half.
Since they really only gain XP on completed actions on YOU and not against other teams (If I remember correctly or they at least only get a small XP boost per game)...it was lopsided real quick. Keepa becomes a real beast of a goalie and THE best one at 99.
I had to look this up since Id never played FF 10. This looks..AMAZING.
An absolute three dimensional arena, freeform movement and I loved the gameplay.
Congratulations folks, youve just found another voice for the sport. :D:D
The problem with XP was that other teams got it just as much as you did.. you could never really power ahead for example. Because if you got ditto to level 50 off example you'd suddenly find a bunch of other characters suddenly became level 50 when you played the next match.. they were all inter connected into groups. You could see this especially if you powered up one character but left the rest ofnyour team low. Every other team would have the same thing. 1 high level player and 4 lows.
Kinda made it a pain because no matter how much you invested in building up the aurochs they'd always end up falling behind.
I never had that problem nor ever lost a match. Once you beat the hardest match ever which is the forced 1st one it's pretty much your game. I was having Tidus making shots from the other side of the map. I wonder if they fixed it in the PS4 version. I heard that was based off of the International version which was harder all around...even had the Black Aeons which was the real endgame.
Blitzball makes no sense as presented in FFX. It's a full contact sport that takes place underwater. Not only are the physics actually impossible (what are they pushing off of, anyways?) but you'd really need some sort of water breathing magic. Otherwise, a good hit in the right place in the torso will cause you to involuntary inhale; so that you'd drown before you could get out of the arena.
But if you like it, go for it. It's still better than chasing Chops in FFXII or the Card game in FFIX.
Whether you like Blitzball or not, you have to admit if they did put it in, it would get played for all of two weeks or so then be promptly forgotten. Just like very other major Gold Saucer addition. (If you ever feel your existence in life is pointless, just remember, someone at SquareEnix still has to come up with a Lord of Verminion move for every minion that comes out)
We're getting something much better!
This might be hopium but I like to think when Yoshi-P said "no Blitzball" at the NA Fan Fest keynote, it was right after he said "oh, weren't we supposed to have a Gold Saucer update in 6.x that hasn't happened yet?"
So, 7.x is still fair game :)
(PS. "Blitzer" as 8.0's physical ranged job please)
One day...I WILL be a Blitzball!
I have to fulfill my obligation of reminding everybody about the canon story where Tidus kicks a bomb thinking it was a Blitzball and dies.
Do that but with {character I don't like}
https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki...o_Daish%C5%8D~
Unless they actually go ahead and make X-3 to overwrite it, this is canon. At least in my heart.
So spoiler alert if anyone hasn't played 10 so don't read if you don't want to be spoiled.
Ok...I looked over it and maybe cause I only skimmed it but did I read it right and they have summoner and guardians again? Cause 10 made it so that should NOT be a thing and frankly not even possible now.
Oh so that was the problem? Then why not do it like this -
Blitzball Setup -
Recruit NPCs throughout Hydaelyn to play with you that each have strengths and weaknesses.
You can either manage it or play it yourself and optionally with Friends to replace NPCs.
Rewards change every season with items and mounts from Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2.
Tournaments happen every few months, and the option to form teams is open, and you can play against optional random NPC teams as well (like idk the Azim Steppers or something lol).
Stats can be determined whether you're a offensive, defensive or a kind of tactical player (like you're wanting to play as the goalie).
Their new malmstone PVP system as it is now is their answer, it can work and be converted into this mini-game.
Also as another incentive:
Introduce Blitzballer as a new job as well, and you can learn special Blitzball skills like Jecht Shot that you can use in the mini-game, can learn some skills in the mini-game or through various bosses in Duty Finder Dungeons.
Blitzball Job is my personal wish, but I thought I throw it out there.
