Dawntrail is the worst expansion yet

Sorry I just wanted to be able to say I was the first person who made a thread like this.

Dawntrial does not roll off the tongue well at all.

I agree. This game just keeps going downhill even when you think it has reached the bottom of hell.

Ya'll going on about Maracydia do realize these regions take place within that continent right?

What's to expect? More of the same stuff with new artwork and story.

I'd like to see seamless zones with no blue dot row load screens, or at least the option to enable them if your system can support it.
And, an end to all the unnecessary confirmation dialogs.

Huh? On all the world maps we've had so far, New World's its own thing to the west, Meracydia is deep southeast. Totally different continents.

Meracydia is a completely separate continent. We even see it on the map they showed off in the livestream as being covered in clouds and "far south of the 3 great continents" which is exactly where the encyclopedia says it is.

I thought the Scions were going away for a while. I thought we were supposed to get new companions?

honestly i am disappointed i mean it can be good but right now it's not left a great impression on me currently. The name is also just kinda... like does it really sound as cool as the other expansions?

I mean it has the unenviable task of following up on the dumpster fire that was Endwalker, which means starting new plot threads that need to resonate with players. My biggest fear is that XIV is about to become the Saturday morning cartoon MMO, where each expansion wraps itself up and we don't get any main scenario overarching storylines.

This will either be the starting point for a long running story thread, in which case expect it to be about as slow and worldbuildy as ARR with at least the promise of cool exciting things to come, or it'll be an entirely contained vacation arc that feels like an anime beach episode. Which could still be good with decent writing, but let's be real here. NGL I wouldn't have minded smaller stakes if the scions had just been gone for it, but I know they'll never let it happen. The brand must not be allowed to change.

Ohhh, they updated the player models a little bit. Better lighting and better facial textures but the low polygon models are the same.

But it looks better then the old version.

I was in utter disbelief at that trailer. The god forsaken scions are still there, and the whole thing just gives a vibe of a anime beach filler arc. No villain, nothing of substance at all, even the music was terrible.

I’m happy I’m not the only one who listened to the music and was like ‘this isn’t…. good.’

The up and up though is I don’t have to impatiently await the song’s full release like I did with previous expansions.

I don't know why you all complain, Dawntrail looks amazing to me, at least the possibilities, I just love the setting in the new world, that's South America clearly and I hope it eventually expands to the whole continent.


I really like the old temples stuff, the dense forests which should represent the Amazon and hopefully will take us all the way to the Patagonia as the new cold region, it looks like Dawntrail might become my most favorite expansion so far, I just hope SE won't disappoint.


As a side note, about the graphics they really need to upgrade the character models, I think everyone will have at least PS5 performance soon enough so they can increase the graphics quality even further.

what matters is the gameplay idc about the location or how the story goes. Yall cannot critic the expansion until it release and being done.

Game needs a hell of a lot more than just pretty backgrounds, there needs to be engaging content that keeps you busy and a good story, so far it looks like Dawntrail will have neither. Just playing around in the sun with the scions.

Hey man, some of us just enjoy it okay?

Why on earth is this new expansion taking so long??. Gonna blame covid again? Sheesh and it doesn't look like much thought was put in this anyway. It's the same old boring characters who do not contribute much to anything ( except Y'shtola) besides disrespecting and ordering your character around with fetch and run quests.who looks like they are 40 now getting bossed around by 12 year olds. The added content seems to only target the RP. Players and not everyone likes or enjoys RP. This game is sad cry from what it was. Just like it's housing system. Don't dislike the game but disappointed they keep failing to add anything new and exciting to the game except the graphics update.

But I was genuinely curious and confused about the Scions being shown so prominently in the teaser. I remember SE saying EW and the post-EW MSQ would be wrapping up the Scions and we wouldn't see them for a while, and we'd be getting new companions in the next expansion.

If their breaking into two rival groups does open the doors for other companions to step in. But as for complaining comes a point that its best to step away for a while. I have barely touched the game the last 2 weeks. I would be complaining left and right if I didn't walk away even for a short time. Been playing totk and doing family stuff.

I know it's a joke thread but it kind of reminded me about WoW's Mists of Pandaria reveal's (and launch) initial divisive reception - people complaining bout Kung Fu panda, silly theme, 'war'craft ruined, etc.

And then it turned out that it had a really good story behind everything and turned out to be one of WoW's top 3 expansions for many people.

Feel ya. I actually haven't played the game in a few months and been playing other stuff. That's why I was confused about the teaser because I've been out of the loop for a while. I'll be back eventually though. Just been taking an extended break from the game. It's still my gaming home.
