We have been through hell the last few years. Two of my closer friends are nurses who were "recalled" when the pandemic hit, they did two years of service before retiring again. Both of them have changed, not for the better.
I've never seen them look so haunted. Both of them have also said that the next time they get a call to come back..the answer will be no.
So, when you watch FanFest, look at the cheering crowds, look at the stage, remember that two years ago none of this would have happened. The last FanFest was on an empty stage, yes we were online and loving it, but live has its own energy, its own wonder.
Fanfest is a celebration of the game, its also a celebration for a far more important reason.
Life's a gift.
