Please give us more glamour plates. 20 is not enough compared to the number of jobs and professions.
There's 800 limit in the glamour dresser now and we can barely plate any of them.
Glamour is endgame. Please update. Thank you/

Yes. Sudden jump from 29 (was it 29? I forget) to 100 seems really out of the left field, when they could have done notably less (something like 50) and it would be recieved just as well. Frankly, I'm surprised they went for such unnecessarily high number, hence why I used hyperbole to refer to it.
The day they put up glamour plates to a much bigger number, we'll get somewhere ,until then honestly its absolutely pointless because it's limited by inventory space, you can have 100 gear sets but you need to have the glamour pieces on you to swap out to them so it doesnt do anything at all
Exactly. It seems pointless to go for such high number, hence my belief that it is a preparation for changes/expansion something else thats related to gearsets, and between Portraits and Glamour Plates, I doubt portraits are getting some significant alteration in regards to that.
Probably one day. People who love defending the status quo for whatever reason or people who love just dunking on CBU3 will come in and unironically say it's a technical issue like they work at CBU3 or something, but time proves these arguments wrong a lot. For example, in the housing forum they all said instanced housing was impossible due to technical limitations, but now we have instanced front yards on our instanced islands. Or when people asked for more glamour dresser space, we were told "server limitations" by these players who are just as ignorant as the rest of us but like to pretend to know things, and then one day the devs just randomly handed us more glam dresser space.
Basically, just ask for it and don't look at the comments because nobody knows anything and not even Square seems to really know much because sometimes their own devs will say a thing is impossible and then proceed to just do it a year later. Might just be tech getting better, or maybe they just learn how to do more with less, but yeah. I sound like a pessimist a lot on these forums, but this is actually something I'm optimistic about. I think the game can continue to get minor quality of life improvements if the trends we've seen so far continue. Now having said that, I don't actually think they read our forums so you might have to pay someone to post it in Japanese so someone important reads it. Like, I genuinely believe the English forums have been abandoned at this point. Ever since that guy was in here posting pics of himself in a kitty cage and it just stayed up for a week, I legit just lost hope in this place being read by anyone who mattered.
I wonder if the people who code ff14 went to the same school as the people who code D4 stash tab ... :3
When interviewed in early ShB, YoshiP was asked about getting more glamour storage available. His response at that point was basically(to paraphrase), "It's something we'd like to do, but we don't really have the tech/resources at the moment." Given recent increases in the amount of glam storage and glam plates, I'd say they were able to find/get more of whatever they needed. Although the last interviews I heard that asked about the glamour systems left with me the impression that they might be working on replacing the existing system rather than continuing to apply band-aids to the already existing one.
The old number depended on how many classes and jobs you had unlocked.
My understanding is that they are stored client-side so they're basically free to add as many as they want and don't need to worry about server space for them, so they might as well go for the high number.
I've been using them to mark out gearsets I'm collecting so I don't accidentally hand them into the GC deposit.
I'd rather they came out and said 'we are not doing any glamor system updates for quite a while, because we're going to be doing a full overhaul that will make the system less janky, please give us some time thank for understand' because constantly putting band aids on the dreadful system we have now sucks both for the players and the devs. Moving the system over to an 'appearances catalog' style system, even if it takes time, would be way more futureproofed than the current system
I’d be surprised if it’s not increased soonish, if only to keep it in line with the number of combat jobs.
They are QoL things why wouldn't people be happy about small things if they make the game more enjoyable?
Yeah it sucks to use the same glam for DoH and DoL because we don't have enough for all possible Jobs to have one.
I think it's ridiculous how we don't have one glam plate per job (including gatherer and crafter)
I wouldn't be surprised if it really was a technical issue having to do with the way items/plates load whenever you enter an instanced area. But that doesn't mean I can excuse it either. FFXIV's spaghetti code is still bogging it down even 10 years later, and I hope more strides are made to undo the damage. The entire glamour system is a mess and way too limiting
Ideally there should be one plate for every job, including the DOH/DOL jobs. I was hopeful when they increased the storage limit to 800 and gave us a few extra plates. But it’s still not enough. lol
It's always an excuse on the coding/resources.
The amount of craftable gear, mogstore items, quest rewards, beast tribe, job gear, raid/dungeon gear. There is simply not enough available space.
Why is only the original 50 job gear in the armoire? And if you augment the original artifact gear, suddenly it has to go into the dresser? Why can't we put all (50/60/70/80/90) job gear in the armoire, whether its augmented, idealized or whatever? Same with specific DoH/DoL class gear. What possible limitation is there, that they can't do that?
And yea, for those of us who like to have their DoH/DoL each have a unique look. Oh, sorry, now you only have 9 plates available. For 20 different jobs. And then tough luck if you want to have a casual look, a beach look and a silly frog-suit glam.
It's frustrating
WoW's transmog system is just better. Glam truly is endgame and not having a robust system to support that is just disappointing.
Agreed. There's no excuse to not allow for a higher number of plates. At least one per job, as suggested here, should be the bare minimum.
Same goes for the glamor dresser's capacity. It should be infinite: the moment an item is bound to you, its appearance should be saved for you to use whenever you want.
I think there are too many glamour plates and some should be removed. You need 4-5, maximum. Each glamour created adds to data storage costs, reducing the amount of cash spent on content.
If you want to play dress-up, buy a Barbie.
There is a reason: they have to store that data for every single player, and it seems that they continue to suffer from a poor inventory design that becomes ever more unwieldy over time.
While I have no insight into it as such, I suspect that glamour plates are stored as independent items from the copies in the glamour that get cloned when you add them to the plate. It would explain why they remain on the plate once the base item gets removed from the dresser.
So they have to store the data for each item in the dresser, plus possibly allow for 12 items per plate.
My point is that we're talking about a successful company with plenty of resources. They claimed that showing whether an attack was magical or physical was very hard yet implemented it a couple of patches later.
WoW fixed stuff like the (de)buff cap more than 10 years ago, so there's no excuse (i. e. reason) for them to have limitations such as these in 2023.
Glamour is a HUGE part of this game. Given that we have things like Artifact gear for specific Jobs and we're encouraged to have more than one Job on the same character, we should have the ability to at least let them all have their unique aesthetic. There is some really great DoH and DoL Job-specific gear that a lot can't even use because we have to choose between having a unique look for adventuring Jobs we play or having a unique look for tradeskilling Jobs we play.
I'd also agree with others that bare minimum is a plate for every available Job, but ideal would be a few more either for extra outfits for one Job or general issue plate glamours that use items that can be used on any Job that can be assigned as needed.
It's fine if you don't want to use glamour, but even combat-minded players like to look good doing it.
I second this! I have so many outfit ideas, but I'm out of room for them already skska;lsl;a;lk
No mention of glamour plates.
I feel defeated!!!
Honestly... Yes. We're about to have 2 more jobs next year. With BLU that's 22 jobs and only 20 plates.
Unless they want to free the glamour so that we can wear any glam on any job, they need to get us 40-50 plates.
