Curious to know regarding the dissapointment in the relic grinds AND the Mt.Rokkon Savage rewards being absolute donkey.
How many of you are finally giving up this game and quitting and leaving forever? I'm DYING to know your thoughts.
I'm holding out for 7.0. That will either renew my interest or kill it forever.
7.0 will decide my fate as well.
If I win the lottery on my m-plot today, I'll be holding out until 7.0.
I'll be back in the next expansion to see if CBU did something more than the graphical update otherwise.
And if everything stays the same as is, gets even more homogonized and dumbed down; then I'm out.
UPDATE: I didn't win, see you all in 7.0.
I'm still puttering along and doing story and glamour stuff with my seven alts.
I'll probably be here a while.
After seeing firsthand the overwhelming negative reaction to the Kaiten removal and the devs not even acknowledging it, I'm not surprised. Feels like the devs have in mind what they want to do, and they'll do it regardless of feedback.
I'm also in the 7.0 make or break boat. I'm not at my boiling point, but I'm sure as shit getting closer and closer to indifference. I subbed back just for the new Masked Carnivale stages and to experience BLU content on release for the first time, the rest of the game barely picks my interest anymore
Don't care. I'll quit more likely when real life catches up, or game goes f2p.
People always find something they dislike and complain about.
Like eureka.
Already unsubbed a few weeks ago, must have been right after my sub renewed.
7.0 is the final straw, we either get a game worth its sub cost or i just won't come back, starting to understand how the big wow exodus crowd felt about their game after 9 years of xiv.
If 7.0 doesn't dangle anything that intrigues me then I'm out for good. I'm already getting my MMO fix by hopping between ESO and WoW when time permits. Neither game is perfect, though both attract players who actually want to play a video game as opposed to the growing number of FFXIV players who simply want to log on, attend 'venues' and do little but the same tiresome duties over and over and over again for tomestones.
The pendulum will eventually swing back in the other direction and will hopefully strike a better balance in due time. Furthermore, eventually something genuinely refreshing will enter the market and enjoy being the 'next big thing' in a market in dire need of some healthy competition. It's just a matter of time.
I'm gonna be honest with you guys. You may as well just stop wasting your time holding out for 7.0
At this point I severely doubt that the next expansion somehow will answer all of your content prayers. The combat isn't going to change, the questing isn't going to change, outworld content isn't going to change, class design isn't going to change and the game will NOT try to hold your sub hostage via grindable chores.
This is the game. This is FFXIV. The only way 7.0 will mean anything to you guys if somehow they just completely rework the entire structure of the game.
I'm saying this because it's shocking how much I'm seeing people holding out so hard for 7.0 to somehow be vastly different than what we've had so far and I'm not talking about EW.
The reason I’m holding out for 7.0 is for a field content zone, I know that they won’t change (hell I’ve been playing since legacy I know how 14 works)
My interest in the core gameplay loop died in late stormblood but I love field content, I’m basically holding on for one more field content zone, even if we get one I’ll probably drop the game in 8.0, it’s obvious their job design and content decisions revolve around people who don’t actually like playing the game so I know anything good is just a stopgap for me
The relic requirements and Mt. Rokkon's rewards are exactly what I thought they would be because SE is known to stick to their pattern and not deviate. To expect otherwise is just asking for disappointment.
After this long, people should know full well what's coming in every patch during an expansion because it always follows the same pattern. Seriously, I'll lay it out for you so you don't set yourself up for disappointment.
6.5: Alliance Raid with ilvl 650 drops, new island sanctuary stuff, more MSQ storyline, new 4-man dungeon, new trial with ilvl 655 weapons from extreme, end of Tataru questline, new unreal trial (my bets are on Nidhogg)
6.55: End of MSQ, end of relic quest with ilvl 665 weapons, end of crafter/gathering relics, bonus trial against Asura that drops something cosmetic, allied tribal quest
6.58: Next expansion prep, removing all raiding restrictions from Endwalker content
Im sorry but how can you? Exploratory content is so lackluster. Its all just FATE grinds and the only actual good pieces of it are the raids, which require a bit more effort on communication. If you want FATE grinds, go do so in any of the other EW and ShB zones, believe me you'd have the same experience.
I really want something different for 7.0 rather than just add in another boring exploratory zone.
At this moment, my sub has a few hours left.
I am just using the last bit of time to stalk around the forums and let out my disappointment on what the game has become.
EDIT: Will I ever return? Who knows, for now I will be playing other games that nice people here recommended me like GW2 and Honkai Star Rail.
Because exploratory content has logos and horizontal progression
Being top of the DPS less using deep profane on WHM because I am 10/10/10 on honours with +15 haste armour is just a feeling that the lacklustre main jobs completely miss, it’s about the only way to have fun on a healer these days
And exploratory content is still extremely profitable and you can do it all while socialising with other people, communities grow up around field content, people come watch others duel and offer advice, people hold Cassie so everyone gets a chance at her earring
It’s everything I want in an MMO
If 7.0 is more of Endwalker then I'm out.
I think some people have simply put a lot of time into the game over the years and are just curious. I'm out and occasionally subscribe to fill in some Savage groups and probably log in once a week at most, but I'm admittedly also a little interested to see if any of the criticism EW has attracted has had any impact whatsoever. I'm under no illusions about what they're taking the game, though, and I'm not counting on 7.0 to offer me anything.
You know when you're in class and everyone's messing around, and you're wondering if the teacher's going to turn up before the bell rings? Kinda like that.
You know whats more interesting then the future of this game?...the Future of these Forums.
How many of us are still going to be here posting the same crap by 7.0, or even 8.0?
Didn't you already make this bait thread before?
Edit: Yep, found it: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-to-quit-FFXIV
You guys are on heavy copium deluxe if you think 7.0 will change the gameplay and content provided.
The game design philosophy in this game is literally railroads. That’s all you get and will be getting.
New patch ? Here 1 dungeon and maybe some raid bosses if you’re in the right patch for it.
Got a M house in the best possible spot in the Mists, still have ~40 days of sub. But since I don’t even login anymore except once a week to do a quick challenge then out, what’s the point ? There is just no engaging longterm content to eat, absolutely 0 exploration…
I just accepted that this is the game that FFXIV will forever be. Will I quit? Maybe, but sadly there really isn't any other MMO out there that I enjoy on an equal level as XIV, and I practically played them all.
Not to say that I haven't enjoyed my time with the game, but there's more content I'm either "meh" towards than content that I actually want to do. Relic is embarrassingly easy, and there's very little stuff for midcore players. I really hope with 7.0 they are able to bring back some spark to this game. But if not, then I'm just going to start window shopping for other adventures.
Hmm yeah, like others said, I too will wait until we see 7.0 info. Though personally I'm still hoping for mystic knight for the next job. If we get that.... even though the story may be bad, I'll play 7.0 solely for it. But after that, I just hope that there will be other good MMOs as replacement.
I recently resubbed to try a solo leveling challenge similar to what I saw a youtuber doing. Been having fun with it. So I am going to be here for a long time.
It never ceases to amaze me how people that insist they hate the game continue paying for it, continue posting on the forums about it, and continue saying how bad it is and making threads to stir discontent in others/try to get other people as upset as they are/try to get validation for their discontent.
EDIT:
Ah, I see. You're just posting this thread again and hoping no one remembers you did so a few months ago: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...-to-quit-FFXIV
To post on these forums, you not only must have a paid account, you must have LOGGED INTO IT (the game) within the last 14 days or so.
If you hate this game so much and are having oh-so-much FUN(!!!) in Guild Wars 2 and WoW and New World (lol) and so on...
...why...
...are you...
...still HERE??

You aren't posting constructive criticism and you're insisting 7.0 won't change anything, so you clearly aren't in that camp of "We love the game and just think we can change it", since for that to be true you'd have to think 7.0 IS going to change (or at least CAN be by criticism). But you aren't even offering criticism. You're talking up other games and insisting people need to leave this one because it WON'T change in 7.0 and there is no hope for it to.
Why...
...are you...
...still HERE??
Pretty much lol in regards to the relic though we had that interview like a month or so ago where they actively said 6.45 relic would be tomes so it being exactly as said does not surprise me in the slightest. The only thing disappointing is variant grind, I’m wondering because they plan so much in advance it won’t be till 7.0/7.X where they make that content viable long term or keep adding to it. Maybe they won’t and it will be a shame but for people who know the game do understand they get feedback from the expansion as a whole to then plan 7.X patches around said feedback (well usually it’s like this)
For me personally I play the game enough to warrant a sub, I don’t think there is another mmo that can remotely absorb my time. ESO is beyond boring with its floaty combat and really shallow/short story. Blue protocol next year for global release but I’ve seen the Japanese playerbase already say there’s no endgame and it’s a pump and dump 2-4 weeks game. WoW is something that doesn’t click with me and I’ve tried multiple times over the years. So for now il play here and there and continue my backlog of titles :)
Yeah, same. I played WoW for years, but always kinda hated the art style and storytelling style ("Buy and read these three books about important in-game events that we won't actually portray in-game!". I like reading books, but why aren't MAJOR PLOT EVENTS portrayed in the game itself?!), and I finally just gave up at the end of Legion after taking most of Warlords off.
These other games either don't even appear interesting to me to begin with, I don't care for the art style of, I don't care for the combat of (Guild Wars 2, ESO), I don't care for the world of, or they burn out in a matter of weeks after launch (lookin' at you, New World!), or have a community shift to where it doesn't work with the game (I love old school games, so would love FFXI, except when I tried playing it a year or so ago, the prevailing responses I got were "Play with Trusts to level up, then come back and talk to us at level cap"; there's a somewhat similar case with LOTRO), and a lot are pay to win/paywall things. I'd rather have a sub than deal with GW2's 10,000 currency hell, much as I like the art style in that game (though don't care for the non-trinity gameplay and ARPG combat which is something else I generally dislike...)
FFXIV is the only one that I like the world, art style, combat, and lore of, and I find a lot to keep me busy.
Something big would have to happen for me to quit. But I mean something actually big. So big that I haven't seen anything close to it posted even as just ideas in the forums.
I think for me after my scholar main changed especially from SB to EW then I just adapted and as I do like the story and the environment, gameplay and people etc but stopped treating it as a main game mmo. As others have said there are more and oddly I found ARPGs fun and something to compliment the missing grind I personally like and switched to a dps as healing became boring for me, yeah I like button mushing and dot spreading etc. So it isn't binary for me to play/not play I just treat the game as something that ebbs and flows and it isn't a costly sub so it can continue to be around. I am going to fanfest etc so not going to hate on the game as it has given me years of joy and is just different now to what it was.
Don't know why you care, to be honest.
Most people who leave do so quietly. Those that announce it as if it's some form of retirement from a career are usually those that come back after said announcement anyway.
Personally, I won't quit - As I'm far off from accomplishing everything that I want to, especially since I'm casually achievement hunting, which means my 'content' is spread all across the place. But I do think if the next expansion is to be this 'thin' then it might lead to me less frequently playing, or just spreading myself across more games.
I'm not. I consider the game still worth my sub. Still enjoy MSQ. Still enjoy optional content. Started progging in Savage after all these years because the interest hit me and I found I wasn't as allergic to schedules as I had been.
But sometimes a game becomes not worth your sub anymore. And the healthy thing to do is quit. Otherwise you're paying for something that makes you miserable. And it's hard to walk away from everything you built. It was hard to walk away from 10 years of accomplishments in EverQuest and 10 more in EverQuest II and WoW and one or two other games I've played over the years. But there's no shame in throwing in the towel if someone's not feeling it anymore. Speaking with our wallets is one thing we can do as consumers to make our displeasure clear.
He is indeed. I wouldn't have the willpower to skip NPC trading though
