I'm curious to know how much of my life I've wasted.
Are you sure you want to know? Maybe this is a favour to us ^.^
Lol, please god no!
lol do want.
I want it...but I don't...
Please don't tell me. My brother-in-law quit FFXI when the introduced it. He took one look, stood up, went to the PS2, and unplugged it.
/playtime & /deaths lol
Oh man I want to know.
I'm sure it's logged somewhere, it's just a matter of programming a way for the user to get the data.
I'm sure they could do it but since it wasn't in already it would probably start counting from the moment they patched it in.
The servers do indeed keep data on the amount of time a player spends in-game so it is possible this feature might make an appearance some time in 2.0. ;)
"You've been playing for 365 days... please log off and take a break"
I'm probably over the 100 day mark. >_>
WANT.
That's something they could add to the accounts info so it's one of those things you can find out but aren't reminded if you don't want to be.
Two games I have played had this, they were polar opposites so I can LOL at it or OMG it. Perpetuum where in 3 months I banked something like 6 hrs of log in and EVE Online where in 7 years I have banked more time than I do at work.
I really want to see my play time. I think I may have more hours into xiv than in XI XD
There should be an achievement for reaching 1000, 10000 and 100000 in-game hours.
Also to prevent people/casuals from just AFKing for easy mode achievement, just make it so the game forces you to move every 60 seconds, or the logged hours won't count.
Well since they already give a nice incentive bonus for logging out in your Inn room, I don't see people just AFK'ing to log more hours. I'm also not sure it should be considered an achievement to log multiple-0000 hours in game, but I won't debate that.
I certainly don't want to have to move every 60 seconds, or for that matter every 15 minutes, to avoid being booted from the server. I've only played XI and this, but I see my son's games, he has to make his char auto-run in a wall just to take a shower or eat dinner. In SWTOR he sometimes has to wait in a queue to log back in. I don't like that. I'm spoiled by Final Fantasy. :)
I'd get /bank instead of /playtime.
this be really cool to have, please add it!
Buy a 5 dollar crank up clock and set it in your PC room and quit being an irresponsible individual.
how hard is it to check your time before you play and type /clock to check how long you've been playing....i swear the give me/tell me generation will be the end of us all.
Seeing that we get the most simplest questions asked from a Com-rep or GM, answer me this...
Will there be a FFXIV timer released? No, not like the FFXI clock, I want a FFXIV clock/timer a lot bigger and it has to have moogles on the display and sounds of moogles! (or chocobo, w/e you prefer)
I want it. Miss it from XI.
I want to see it too.
Since this is XIV they should spice it up a bit. Have one which tells your overall playtime and another which tells you how many hours you spent standing still doing nothing lol.
That's a cool feature.
I do not regret my 600 days played on FFXI.
I wouldn't mind the feature I just wish there was a way to factor in all the afk. Because I know iv spent a lot of time afking my char. There were times I was afk for weeks so my playtime is going to be completely skewed.

My detection radar for "not sure if serious" isn't is not working.
If serious
There is a large misunderstanding. /playtime is a command used to determine how many days, hours, minutes an individual has played on a single character (or account) for the lifespan of the game. Equivalent to an end-of-the-year tax form that indicates how many hours you've worked, sick leave, vacation, etc.
If not serious
I love watching Jackie Chan Adventures. I happen to think the initial villain was a pretty classy fellow. I'm pretty your name doesn't come from him considering its spelling. But as a character, Jade is more awesomer. I'm afraid her awesomeness will hijack this thread.
