Jumping puzzle GATEs (Leap of Faith etc.) need to go

It's quite ridiculous that over half of the GATEs one does in Gold Saucer is a jump puzzle. And yet another half of these are the Black Shroud Leap of Faith. It is frankly becoming stale very quickly.

Bring back old GATEs (except perhaps the skin change GATE that not many liked), and make new ones. At the very least reduce the frequency of the Black Shroud Leap of Faith.

The Gold Saucer has a lot of potential. It was such a shame to see that new content for the place was touted as an expansion feature only for it to turn out to be another jumping puzzle with a different backdrop.

I kinda wish the gold saucer had more actual IRL casino games (maybe games like poker or BS or actual slot machines but that might be illegal lol) with gil betting instead of MGP. Or if they've gotta do the MGP thing, maybe update the MGP shops more often 'cause there's nothing in there I even want so you could hand me 1 million MGP and I wouldn't feel a thing. Like, maybe instead of putting a new hairstyle/mount in the shop for 20 dollars during a content drought, put it in the gold saucer instead and more people will actually give a shit about make it rain.

I definitely agree that the rug was sort of pulled from the feet with the new feature being another leap. I wouldn’t mind blitz ball even if it was purely like can’t play against other people, could even do the FFX thing of travelling tbr world recruiting people and you use Gil to purchase their services for contracts for X amount of games. It would be a way of sinking in Gil and bumping mgp and putting rewards in to.

But troll OP of course wants to remove content rather then ask for content to be added makes total sense right /s

Wish they could improve the Chocobo Races and add more different minigames

They have FF7's Gold Saucer as a good template, THEY NEED TO USE IT!

Where is Gold Saucer's Virtua Fighter minigame?

Sylphlands leap only ever happens at xx:40. All the Leaps are at fixed times.



Personally, Sylphlands is the only Leap I'll do. I enjoy it quite a lot.
For that matter, I also enjoyed Skinchange, and absolutely want that one to return.

Skinchange was a good quick one once you realised you could inspect the targets directly in first-person view rather than finnicking through the menus.

Skill issue

Yes more variety is good

At least jump puzzles are skill-based. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Typhon one that is luck-based. Albeit, it IS the Gold Saucer, so I accept that luck-based games are part of what to expect.

That was definitely the only way to do it...not sure why people would have a hard time with that one when you can just go first person, look at the person, then find their twin. Maybe run back and forth to double check parts, but it was definitely one of the quicker ones to do.

I'm actually a huge fan of the leap of faith GATEs, that's just me

pretty sure the OP has complained about things being "dumbed down" and one of the fates, (which at most is 1/3 not half the time OP) which needs some skill is.... something they want gone?

While I agree the frequency is a lot, Leap, the slice is right, and wind blows are the only good Gates. Cliffhanger I don't care for and if Air Force One (boreforce) got deleted today I wouldn't notice it missing.

I wish they had stuff like this. Right now all the games are no risk with barely any reward. The only reason to play any of them is to complete challenge log requirements, and you'd have to be seriously bad to lose MGP on them. Games where I could risk losing MGP, but also receive a larger payout would be great, and would make MGP grinding more interesting. I'm trying to save up for the mounts, and it's just a lot of standing around to complete weekly requirements, and then waiting for the next week to do them again. Other than Cactpot, there's not much you can do to make any serious MGP.

More mini-games and attention to existing mini-games in general would be welcome. And if they do add more mini-games I would hope it's not another Mahjong-like mini-game that takes half an hour or even an hour for a single match.

Unfortunately they have already given a bit of a response about the possibility of IRL casino games and having things use actual gil instead of MGP. Apparently doing these things would run afoul of the gambling laws in several countries in which they operate (to include the US as gambling is illegal in quite a few states). The only reason the Cactpot was even able to circumvent gambling laws (aside from the lotto being treated separately from other gambling in many places) is because of the fact that it uses MGP instead of gil as MGP is seen as a 'ticket' currency one would get at an arcade rather than real currency.

I would definitely like something else, it seems like an overwhelming majority of GATEs are Leap of Faith, so for players that like other things you're just kind of out of luck. Even the rescue the chocobo chick one is a kind of leap of faith, just shorter.

Give me the option for Leap of Faith at all Gate times. I certainly can't be the only one who laughs when you see someone miss their jump only to be launch into the abyss below.

Giving us options to choose at each GATE would be an ideal option too since it allows people who like Leap of Faith to play Leap of Faith while others who want a bit more variety can engage in different kinds of content each GATE.

Isn't the consolation prize amount higher than the ticket price? I assume they get past the gambling aspect by the fact that you can't even lose MGP on it as long as you remember to hand in your ticket.

I just want to hide other people while in Leap of Faith instances. I can't see what's going on under the sheer amount of bodies.

blame CERO (Japanese video game rating system) and PEGI (European video game rating system). Both are extremely strict on ratings as soon as emulation of gambling comes into play. It's the same reason we got Voltorb Flip in place of the slots in the game corner in Fire Red/Leaf Green, and why there hasn't been a game corner at all since Diamond/Pearl/Platinum and Heart Gold/Soul Silver (even in the Ruby/Sapphire remakes, the Game Corner was removed, and it was replaced with a different shop in Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl)

That probably helps alot too because yeah that is the case. You could only lose MGP on the Mini Cactpot, and then they changed that well after the fact. Starting to wonder if it was to avoid further problems.

Leap of Faith does need to go away or make it where you are the only one in there. I tried it and there is so many players in it that can't even see your character to line it up for jumps. I have no problems with jump puzzles till you can't see your character at all from so many other players covering you.

First person? I didn't even bother with that, just moved camera around myself in a way to get a good look. Also had the advantage of not being piled in on all the others trying to inspect; I could be several steps away with camera zoomed out from myself, but perfectly close to NPC.

Much as I enjoyed it, I do also recognize, it they were to bring it back, it really should be able to rotate in more models/races, which.. does just mean more work for (re)designing it all.

Similar to Time of My Life, if their intention was having one of every race/gender represented to be familiar with and emulate, is now increasingly hard to fit all examples on/around stage.

They probably could have put the dancers in clusters of three or something. Pick groups that won't collide with each other while emoting.

Or just have people learn to recognise other races with similar animations. I recall the female Miqo'te being close enough to my Midlander emotes that I could follow her if the Midlander dancer wasn't present.

Alternately, bring it back with some specialised dance moves instead of generic emotes, then you can pick it from the icon/name. Maybe require people to memorise strings of dance moves that get longer as the game goes on.

Small correction: All races/genders were always present. There was, however, a small floating stage I believe above the middle that 4 dancers were relegated to. You really had to play with the camera to get a good view of them, tho.

Which is where my hunch that their intention was to include all representatives comes from, and adding bun/cattos made it cumbersome (not to mention now it's not an even split, until/unless female hroth happen).

They are fine, but the mushroom one based on the shroud needs a rework. I don't mind if they have different difficulty variation, but this one was a bit too far.

I think this problem could be offset if they introduced more GATEs to play in a little more often than once every 3 years or more.

Sadly Gold Saucer is practically dead content at this point.

They honestly should do what Guild Wars 1 did for some of their seasonal events.

Custom abilities inside of a special zone that everyone has on their bars. This way they could do stuff like add blitzball to the game. However, it's SE and this might actually be a fun idea, so I doubt it'll happen.

Have you been there recently? "Dead Content" is stuff that practically nobody does anymore. Gold Saucer is always populated, even outside the explosion we see during Make It Rain. They even introduced the new Leap design recently. It's one of the best examples of the complete opposite of "dead" content...
