This is not a bug or a technical issue.
Your character is what Home Point is saved too, not whatever job you were or are on.
If you are leveling a new job, and you are at risk of getting killed, then change your Home Point to whatever zone you are currently questing/hunting in.
Once done in that zone, when you move to another, change your Home Point to there.
If you set a teleport point to be your Favorite, you will save a percentage of the teleport cost.
If you also protect you account with an Authentication device or app, you can also set a single Free Teleport Point for a zero cost teleport to it.
Also, if you participate in The Hunt and gain hunt Seals or get Grand Company Seals from questing or turn-ins, you can use those currencies to buy Aetheryte Tickets from the seal's supply merchant, which are used per-teleport instead of Gil.
On my end, by actively participating in The Hunt, plus many daily turn-ins at my Grand Company, I keep generally a full stack of Aetheryte Tickets (a total of 999) and I have not paid for a teleport with Gil in over 3 years.
my charters not in a clan and if you use a 90 for home point it should not be set for a lvl 1 to go there period it should be auto were you died not sent to another land im a gamer 43 years and i never saw such bs in all my life lvl 1 got to 90 spot= bs
Well, you are more than welcome to use your 43 years of gaming experience to express your suggestion to make a different home point savable for different jobs in the Feedback Forums here - https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/forums/663-Feedback :D
Greetings Adventurer!
We apologize for any inconvenience that has occurred when playing Final Fantasy XIV. Unfortunately, the issue you are describing is not a technical issue. I will be moving this thread to "General Discussion".
Thank you for visiting the FINAL FANTASY XIV Technical Support Forums!
This is your second thread about it, and no one had been on your side with your so called 'issue'.
Also if you're a '43 year old gamer' you should be able to look up how things work without coming to a forum to complain about something you don't seem to understand that's taught to you when you first make your character.
TL;DR - You get ONE home point for free with a 30 min cooldown to warp to
If you're leveling up, take the game's advice and SET A HOME POINT FOR A PLACE YOU ARE ACTIVELY LEVELING IN
Sidenote: You can set favoured destinations, when you're at them, to make teleporting to a place cost 50% less.
Also for everyone wondering about his 'other thread' about the same exact issue -> https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...to-the-90-zone
Well he has a point that you should be revived at the nearest Aetheryte instead of your home point.
But the home point itself is fine and works as intended. It's basically your free "I got stuck in the terrain and can't move anymore" rescue button. Everything else is a bonus.
Didn't something bad happened if someone didn't revive you a very long time ago? I remember people actually waiting for a rez over going back to the home point, but it was so long ago I don't know if I'm misremembering or what exactly was the penalty, if there was any.
Yeah, but I'm talking about 2.0 or like 2.1 era... I distinctly remember people waiting for rezzes and just more people dead in random places in the map, though maybe it was a carried over tradition from other MMOs? There was (is?) and achievement for rezzing people outside of your party.
May be a Mandela effect or something lol.
I know back in my day we had this thing called a brain. It's crazy, it lets you think you know what? I don't wanna return to a lvl90 area so I'll set a lvl1 area as my home point.
If you wanna really big brain it you'd set Old Sharlyan as your return point and set the 3 cities as your favoured so you save even more money as Sharlyan is one of the most expensive places to port.
There is the other thing were money is literally no object in this game as it has zero value so who cares about prices.
You are correct people used to wait on & ask for reses in zones more back in 2.0. A lot of 2.0 zones were slower to travel through and I think it was a cultural hang up compared to our current understand of the game. Especially since most areas only have 1 aetheryte so people didn't want to run back out.
Two suggestions.
1. Any time you switch classes...teleport to the place you want to make as your home and do that.
2. Stop dying.
Asking for individual home bases for each and every class is just nonsense.
I am sorry, i don't get the point here. Even if you are unwilling to reset your Home Aetheryte with one Job at lvl 90 1500Gil for a teleport is pocket change.
Hey! Great opportunity to learn about the benefits of two-factor authentication! Get you a security token or software authenticator and BAM you got yourself a second FREE teleport location you can set wherever you need.
I don't think I've paid more than 500g for any teleport for the past 6 months. I have it set to auto-use the tickets when the cost exceeds 500g, since doing one roulette is way more than enough for that. Add to that the 18-hour ventures my retainers go on for the Silver Allagan Metals(500g each), turning 40 of those into the Doman Enclave for 40k each week, and whatever else they end up bringing back for me to sell...I don't even think about farming stuff to stay out of the red for teleporting.
To add to this, my save point is Radz, so I can get the tomestone/normal raid token vendors cheaply, and even the EW hunt bills cheaply. Also, doing the weekly deliveries is a good source to off-set any teleportation fees.
