What's your favorite thing in the game at the moment?
Even though XIV has a specific anime aesthetic, my favorite thing is how we can end up with so many "visual archetypes" for our characters.
Characters? Regula, Hien, Varis, Elidibus, Emet, Magnai, Yotsuyu, Fordola.
Locations? Garlemald, Bozja, Rabanastre, Gridania, Kugane.
Jobs? Machinist and Red Mage.
Skill/spell animation and FX, in most MMO they look clunky/mechanical and overall cheap.
At this moment?
Eureka.
We are in Pyros now, which is the map I like the least, but in general it is a lot of fun doing this old content again with a few friends who have never been there. Plus I am getting a new relic weapon.
I am running a submarine / airship fleet and LOVING IT. There is a lot of complexity involved, stat balancing, its a load of fun.
As nice as the new Logos system was there... I just disliked that map so much that getting through it made Pagos look a comparative joy.
(Actually, Pagos wasn't bad with a chatty grind group, since being less rewarded for / dependent on hitting every NM farm actually let you sink into a particular pull rhythm/optimization that'd make different areas feel more distinct from one another, and allow groups to chill a bit more.)
Glam and gpose + chat with people :)
Hanging out with people and housing are the best thing in this game for me, content is a bit meh in my opinion, but those 2 really keep me in the game. Venues can be fun too with friends.
I live for the raids and I die without them.
Luv my Ameliance, Luv my Elezen
nuff said.
I'm not sure if there's one thing that's my favorite, but there are some aspects that makes this game stand out:
High-end content, especially blind, is still very compelling.
Music is always good.
Zones and dungeons are pretty for a game this old.
Many characters I found really well-written like Ysayle, Fordala and Yotsuyu.
Overall my favorite thing is the job system where I don’t need to make new alts for each role.
Love a lot of the music.
Favorite jobs right now are Summoner, White Mage, and Black Mage.
Favorite NPCs are Y’shtola, Hien, Kai-Shirr, Ardbert, and Alisaie + Family.
Favorite Expansion is Endwalker followed by Shadowbringers.
Favorite thing to do are roulettes. Love playing with random people and gives me a lot of variety of content that I can spread around in various jobs.
Love me some Bozja, the glam system, and the Blue Carnivale. Raids and EXs are also pretty fun.
Favorite overall though, has to be the music. It has always been stellar, and I doubt that'll be changing any time soon
There are very few games where the music is so good, it can overcome a lot of things I would normally think are negative. FFXIV is one. Final Fantasy in general actually. I still rewatch to the "Take it, we fight as one" part of Shadowbringers because the music just connects with the emotion of the moment so perfectly.
Off topic, but Pathfinder:wotr mythic path themes also have that effect, they draw me in so much more than it normally would. And oddly enough, FFXVI's music so far, despite being Soken, seems more like ambient music, not nearly as connected for me as FFXIV.
Mao loves the gatherings, hunts trains, houses and chattings with friends and FC mates. Ohh, Mao also loves doing maps!
Right now I love mentor roulette.
It's actually been very fun to throw the dice and see what happens. I put on some relaxing music and do whatever comes my way. I've done some dungeons I haven't done in literal years like Neverreap.
At the moment?
Farming extremes.
Give me raids or give me death.
Me in a couple months:

Zenos, Red Mage, housing, glamour, Island Sanctuary, daily roulettes, hoarding Gil and other currencies. :)
I try to hoard gil. I do not succeed. :(
My favorite mount in the game right now is a tie:
between Ehil Tou
and the Miw Miisv
I love my enthusiastic, mutated-dragon, crafting apprentice; who somehow managed to technically still wear that scarf despite all odds. (Srsly, she's the coolest reward from Custom Deliveries, imo.)
But the jellybelly is so sparkly and has such pleasing sound fx! I can't choose.
The mount music is bleh on both, but oh well. lol
Gpose.
And the music.
My boyfriend.
My overall favorite thing in any MMO is tradeskilling. I've spent more time doing that than anything else over 9 years of playing. I also enjoy BLU after leaving it to languish at level 10 for years and I'm looking forward to new content.
Current favorite thing is getting back into doing EX when it's current and tackling Savage when it's current for the first time.
And the music in the game is fantastic.
Unironically. The catgirls.
I love the way the general flow of combat feels, aswell as the animations for attacks are really flashy and cool, things like ley lines, giant summons, samurai sheathe attacks, flashy mudra spells etc.
I feel like with each new expansion we get more awesome looking abilities, i remember the first time seeing Bahamut and losing my mind over it, never expected the devs to make something that big & flashy.
Though i will say there are some animations that i really miss from pruned abilities, Power slash, Aero 3 and Dark arts come to mind.
Maybe on day we will get a feature that lets us "glamour" old animations on to our attacks, because it feels sad that some great ones like Dark arts are just lost forever.
PVP (casually)
Everything else went to trash or got nerfed/too simplified (New patches/community/job designs/MSQ/ the general direction of the game).
Played some Air Force One in the saucer recently. Definitely my favorite mini game, though I do like the jumping puzzles too. Well the ones with actual maps. Not a fan of the one in the saucer itself all that much.
My favorite thing about FFXIV are the memories of when it was good, especially in HW.
Fem Roe cleavages
The story is the one and only thing I enjoy about the game at this point.
My own WoL :p
