Just asking genuinely im curious.
Just asking genuinely im curious.
honestly it might be an unpopular opinion because "muh content", but this game is amazing for its social aspect more than for its content, a lot of people use FFXIV as a social hangout more than anything else, and so do I, hanging out with people is pretty much what I do every day, along with some housing and eventually some venues if they arent too boring (aka everyone afk bees knees)
A bit of PVP from time to time as well with CC if I feel like it but pretty rarely as it's really meh, a tiny bit of content on my "content alt" when I feel like it as well, but pretty rarely as I just find FFXIV's content pretty mediocre after trying it in the past
Fishing, achievement hunting, decorating and just generally socializing with others. More so the former 2 though than anything else.
I mean it's very stale so it gets boring pretty quickly honestly, and a new crystalline series is not going to "renew" my will to go through it again, perhaps if a few more maps were added it'd be a bit more fun, but as it is it's pretty stale, playing other games is the way to go really, I've been playing Outlast trials a lot the past 2 weeks and it's been a blast
I don't play daily because that is how you get burnt out. I log in for raid nights, sometimes for pvp and generally enough to make sure I do my weekly caps and that's enough for me.
I can spend literal hours playing around with glamours for my growing collection of alts, and most of them need varying amounts of levelling and quest progression. I do a lot of running normal content and I'm decently good at it, but I don't like the gear grind or super-practised rotation required to get into harder content.
Depends on the day.
Tuesday - Reset day. Normally I'm going to cap out the most recent Tomes on roulettes. Also putting up stuff on my retainers to sell. Depending on mood I might pop into a venue I like when they open (11pm-2am.)
Wed/Thurs - Raid nights with static. We're a casual group, so this normally lasts through the whole patch.
Friday - Boss Rush night. A MINE group that I run. Presently we're on the static killer. (A3S).
Saturday/Sunday - PFing raid content that static didn't clear, BLU logs, or taking a few days to play other games. The venue is also open on Sunday, so I'll visit there sometimes.
Monday - BLU log, Crafting, leveling, or artifact weapons. Depending on mood.
Fishing, roleplay, RP events, gposing, decorating and levelling my island sanctuary, and helping out my friends with their quests. And having to act as a friend's bodyguard every now and then. It's great!
Oh, and helping my friends with the Kugane Tower challenge. Their joy is always worth it :D
This game is the perfect marriage of a sandbox MMORPG with a theme park one. Any content or story you could ever want on rails, if thats your thing, and the developers also saw fit to give the game countless tools for RP and player created content.
To answer your question directly, for me, I think the first thing we do in the game every day really says what we enjoy the most about it. For me it's socializing, saying hello to folks. Then I take care of my plants, do some beast tribe dailies, do some roulettes, help folks in Novice Network and/or party finder as needed with lots of social interaction before, during after each activity. Two year strong and I still have crafters and gatherers to finish, plenty of side quests, deep dungeons, alts, I never run out of fun things to do. Fishing, gposing, decorating, wonderous tales, farming the new raids for 640 gear its just endless.
It literally has everything I want in a game. Story, music, community, most jobs are fun to play (for me, others will disagree) even it's own toxic cesspit of "nice job" spamming in PvP. If I somehow do ever run out of things to do I can't wait to make an alt and do it all again.
- Duty Roulettes.
- Beast Tribes ( have yet to finish some).
- Working towards some long grind achivements.
- PvP.
- Blue Mage.
- Lvling other jobs.
- Crafting.
- Island sanctuary.
- Housing.
- Helping players who ask.
- 80/90 Maps.
- Collect glam.
- Gpose.
- Gold Saucer.
- Deep dungeon.
PvP, mentoring sprouts, coming up with new glam. FISHING, earning gil to help people who need help gearing, being a friendly face in the Novice Network, helping FC mates out e.t.c.
I'm considering entering higher-end content like Extremes and Savage, but I haven't been able to get past meteors in the latest EX.
Daily in the past week:
retainers, submarines, 1-4 hours of killing S ranks, daily frontline
Throughout the past week:
4 nm raid bosses, island sanctuary rares + gathering + workshop, fashion report, managing tomestones/hunt seals/pvp currencies/company seals so they don't cap, obtained a couple of tt cards, spawned some S ranks and helped other hunters, changed one glamour, started emptying my retainer inventories and making money off all the random stuff I have
When I eventually get bored of doing so many S rank hunts, I'll swap to hunt trains, learning the newest extreme, farming old mounts, ocean fishing or trying to get the level 87 dungeon minion to drop. Probably leaving the current savage tier for next expansion so I can catch up on other content. Oh and I still need to decorate both houses once I've made some gil.
I honestly don't play much anymore. I mainly log in the necessary once in 14 days.
When I do log on I'll be doing 1 of 2 things.
1. Do roulettes on the class I feel weakest in and keep using it till i get a firm grasp of it. Then I drop it for my next weakest till I'm pretty much refreshed on all.
2. Hang out in Balmung and chatting...or delivering pizza. Or eating the pizza I should be delivering.
As of now, in EW? Glam hunting, mostly. After there's not much for my main character to do that I'm interested in, I'll make and lvl an alt of a different race to see what themed glams I can cook up till my sub expires (like Thavnairian, Hingan, and so forth).
I mostly log in on the weekends. When I play I raid with my static at the appointed times and do map runs with my FC.
Mostly PvP and Mahjong, sadly Ranked CC is dead for the large part of Seasons and Casual gets old pretty fast in comparison as it has complete lack of balance in matchmaking.
Outside of that some light socializing with random folks or helping my friends if they want to take on some other content.
I mostly enjoy headcanoning being my WoL without actually doing any RP. So it's fun in this part of the story of supposedly being semi-on break to try lots of new classes and things I've ignored over the years. I bought a house again which I thought I'd never do after losing my first one years ago, but I'm enjoying fleshing out my WoL through that. It's mostly for myself since I don't really invite people over.
As far as things I like doing, Daily Expert gives me something to do with my 90s. Just very slowly gearing up casters with the latest tome gear. Using weekly 8-mans to gear up Healer / Tank and then all the others just get the 825 gear from the new dungeon.
I do daily Frontline which is amusing but of course content one person has very limited control over, so view it all as just an RNG mess of PVP. Still fun if you don't care about results.
I enjoy Daily levelling roulette since I'm still working on classes. I used to only max WHM and SMN every expansion EW is the first time I'm really into trying out many more classes. I have 12 (13 if you count Scholar) at 90 now compared to 2 jobs ARR - Shadowbringers. Having so much variety has extended the lifespan of the content for me.
I got into crafting and gathering and went from nothing unlocked to 2 Crafters maxed and all 3 gatherers. Really liked the EW gatherer Tribe quests.
I used to also run daily Alliance raid for more XP on my levelling classes, but Diablo 4 came out and I had to drop this activity.
I don't really have time for Island - I wish I did but I don't enjoy gathering on the Island enough to really level it. Maybe someday - but no time right now. Especially with Diablo 4, Baldur's Gate 3 soon, Mortal Kombat 1. Also slowly getting through Elden Ring so my free gaming time is booked, and unfortunately Island Sanctuary didn't make the cut right now.
As I've stopped raiding for the most part, I've discovered thetorturejoy of Crafting.
It gives me the type of grind that actually feels worth investing tombstones into, unlike a certain Purple Weapon this expansion.
Currently, I just log in to do my weekly caps, spread out over multiple days by doing 1-2 roulettes a day and doing my weekly normal raids. Maybe a PVP here or there, until I realize it's close to the next series and I still haven't finished it so I spam PVP to do that....but otherwise, 1-2 roulettes/retainers/squadron/submersibles/weekly deliveries then I jump to one of the many backlogged games I have still.
I just do my dailys which get boring after the second week and grind exs. But when I run out of things to do. I just do what Yoshi P tells me to do and play other things Because FF14 doesen't offer enough content. I just want stuff to work towards that doesent stress me out.
Depends on the mood but my primary activities in early even patch cycles are raiding and crafting. I even have a third alt just for PF as my other two characters are for Savage splits. Afterwards, I'll do a bunch of log parties and bounce around other jobs. Learning how to not GCD heal in PF can keep you busy for a little while. As my interest winds down on logging, I tend not to log in all that frequently unless there's something new to do.
log on to the forums
Running around in Lumsa and pester local people with my existence.
Queue random duties as conjurer (or marauder) and get kicked.
Cycle.
hmm firmament FETEs if they're up, beast tribes, custom deliveries, wonder tail, a bit of relic grinding, and then trial roulette spam for fun ^_^
collecting and doing new content usually. Avoiding dungeons and running side content like maps fishing and deep dungeon.
Things I wish I could do more of that I haven't in the last 10 years is probably raiding tbh sadly. "
When I'm really bored I enjoy playing performance on my bard. Tbh after a while the real enjoyment became coming back for the newest patches completing the content released and returning for the next patch giving some leeway for a break so the game doesn't wear me out.
I log in maybe once or twice a week. Haven't actually capped tomestones in quite some time.
Sometimes I go through 3 or 4 roulettes. I feel like I enjoy them cause I play so sporadically, there are dungeons I hadn't done in YEARS. As an example, I recently got Aetherochemical Research Facility on roulette. Last time I went in there was for the HW relic grind when that was current... lol.
I like to hop on and do my dailies. I did EX on content for the first time since like Bismarck recently and have over 100 totems now so I'm ready when the pity option drops. I've not felt as allergic to schedules anymore so I've been dipping my toes into Savage and it's been quite fun.
I also make sure to do my island items each day. I'm not a set it and forget it type. I like to participate in the supply and demand game and puzzle out what to put up each day. I like to go achievement hunting and I've been working on relics I don't have yet.
If I don't feel like doing adventure content, I craft or gather. I also have a Dynamis alt so sometimes I pop over there to progress MSQ on her and visit with my FC mates there. I also have other alts I play if I don't feel there's anything to do on the main.
It’s a great thing to have open in the background while doing other things. It’s like Discord plus a moving screensaver. Just log in, talk to friends, and assuming no one needs any help, you can alt-tab to other websites or games. It’s perhaps the easiest and most chill “game” I’ve ever played and reminds me of Habbo Hotel.
Oh, and there was an update or something recently but I beat all of it weeks ago.
I just play the game for fun, but I'm weird like that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
A lot of you seem to play for the social aspect I wish I was more outgoing to do the same.
Since it's been like 10 years recently I played fresh on a alt making a goal to level the classes equally. Was nostalgic but also seeing the changes from scratch since 2.0. Things like SMN felt different and tanks without stone skin.
Things that I (almost) always do:
- Daily roulettes (On main boy)
- CWLS chatting, -a lot-.
- Daily things (picking up map, isle, & squadron)
- Staring at glamour dresser thinking if I can tweak or improve or create new glamour plate (8 out of 10 times I came up with empty hand).
- Gposing (9 out of 10 times no real result).
Things that I do when I have the mood for it:
- Alt's roulettes (more likely)
- Alt's MSQ progress (blergh)
- Spam Frontline PvP on main boy (quite likely, when done I usually don't do my roulettes.)
- Glamour hunting
- New Game Plus+, especially post StB and onward. (Quite likely. I love doing this on main boy).
- Achievements hunting (Not everything. Currently working on maps now).
- Dabbling with housing stuff & visiting venues for inspirations.
- Visit friends in other DCs.
- Farming things in Eureka/BSF. I'm far more likely to do this while assisting newcomers into the zones.
I avoid PF like plague except for some unsync runs & Delubrum runs. Even that I still have some degree of aversion. The only time I step into EX/Savages is when I'm playing with my casual/midcore static group.
Whatever the mood strikes, usually I can't stay on task for one achievement.
I try to do a little bit of everything.
I rotate between four of my alts day by day and complete certain tasks with them.
1. My main, Waira. I focus on the makn story and side stories when they poo and then grind out tomestones and item drops to put all my jobs and retainers in decently high level gear.
2. My Lalafell, I'm currently going through Heavensward story with them, taking care of one HW relic weapon, the HW Beast Tribes and side story quests/raids.
3. With my Auri, I'm running around through Eureka trying to complete its story and one relic weapon before dkving into Endwalker with them.
4. Lastly, my Roegyden, I'm doing the ARR story and currently doing my least favorite part of that expansion: running around all over Eoreza getting a stupid facking crystal to kill Garuda! xD
Different things. I tend to go to Eureka when I'm bored because eventually I'll want another weapon, so it's good to just have a stockpile of mats. I also like Hunt trains, so watching for the LS pings is nice on that end. I like messing around in Deep Dungeons, and have dabbled a little with some practice runs to see if I might eventually go for some clears (Orthos enemies are HP sponges, though! Maybe just gotta do more que runs to get some higher gear). And whatever the FC feels like if they send out a call for people to run Extremes or such with.
Other than that, Expert ques for capping weekly currency (90 per run, 50 for the run and 40 between all the bosses, so a couple daily Experts gets you capped for the week easy, especially while doing other things to make up the gap) and Frontline a day. Oh, and working my way through the various Jobs I've never bothered leveling, figure getting them all to 80 is a decent project to chip at over time now that I've finished doing all the sidequests (yes, all of them) in the game - having all my maps free of quest markers is both pleasant and kind of odd in a way I can't quite put my finger on. But I love seeing all the little character side stories and the lore for the various areas.
Someday I'll go back and finish up the ARR Sightseeing Logs. Got the first 20 to unlock the rest, but haven't done many of them. Conditions are super specific on some and I just haven't got around to hammering them all out. Maybe that'll be the next thing to add to my list...
