Its been 7 and a half years. Put an Aetherite in the Dravanian Hinterlands.

No joke, this zone is STILL the most annoying zone in the game, despite being so beautiful, because it has not one aetherite.

There are no more lore reasons why they can't have one. Alexander is canonically dealt with. The Illuminati though still technically NPCs in the zone have been a non problem for years. Thordan and the Knights of the round are not chasing you anymore.

Just put an aetherite in the Dravanian Hinterlands. SOMEWHERE. Anywhere. There is one settlement, upgrade the settlement so that the goblins have an aetherite in their little ruined village. I don't care if we have to repair it for a mini restoration, just give us an aetherite. People still do old hunts, as well as gathering, and new players might find it a hindrance if they wish to play through that expansion. There are plenty of reasons to do it. Plus I've always wanted to repair the Hinterlands. I'm sure many other players wouldn't mind, even if it wasn't all of it.

You know what ? I completely agree and while we are at it just do a doman rebuild 2.0 there.

That also would be nice, though I don't mind it being frozen. It actually makes it kind of a relic, but if it helps with convenience, it would be a good thing. There are other aetherites in frozen environments, so its time it got repaired too I guess. :p

Did they ever give a reason you dont have one? Like.. was Alexander supposed to be eating all the aether in the area or something?

The only thing coming to mind is that hinterlands has a variable in the zone showing different things depending on how far you have progressed into Alexander. Maybe it was just another moment of weird coding back then.

While we're at it, can we have another aetherite in Azys la please. One in the middle?

Put another aetherite in the low-right part of Azys Lla.

Imagine being the most advanced civilization ever, and your only way to transportation from 1 point to another of the map is mounted.

It was a completely different reason but that reason doesn't really hold water now: they were going to put Idyllshire on the same map and not separate the zones, but they realized having Idyllshire in the end zone would overflow the zone too much and make it where people couldn't get in since it was the endgame zone during HW. So they moved Idyllshire and its' aetheryte into its' own zone, and have kept the aetheryte in Idyllshire and not in the zone map. There's no worry of having people locked out of the map now since Idyll is no longer the endgame zone.

While I don't find it too much to tele into Idyllshire, mount up, and leave, having a smaller aetheryte (or having the network around ruined New Sharlayan fixed up and working) wouldn't be a bad thing either.

Why do white knights not even know the lore of their own game

This is literally explained during the MSQ if you talked to the NPCs. There ARE aetherytes all over the map. They broke because of lack of maintenance.

Players even go inside it to do one of the aether current blue quests and you can see it was once a travel point , but observing the surroundings is hard on some people it seems.

Thought the general reason was that the hinterlands and Idyllshire were orginally suppose to be 1 one complete zone but pre Hw launch they quickly decided not to for over pop/zone lock out reasons and instead make Idyll its own zone leaving hinterlands without an atheryte. Why they couldn't/haven't added one by now is unknown.

Each zone is in its own time zone for the moment of the story line . There isnt any map progression once you move past the story . Other players reaching that zone as part of their journey will face the same reason that there are none.

The few instances that change for an individual are few and far between, such as the beast tribe kiosks that appear once you unlock that beast tribe , or the intro zone in Rhalgars reach (which is a solo instance initially) becomes the open zone with less of the initial destructions caused by the battle you are in when you're in the early stages of the msq.

Problem is it would make the one in Falcon's Nest mostly negligible since it's tucked so far away in the corner.

and give goblin beast tribe (for me) so i can get some goblin related titles

Honestly they could get rid of a lot of aetherytes..

Some zones you can literally ride from one to another in under a minute.....

Laziness and convenience gone too far imo.

The hinterlands not having one isn't a major issue you can still quite easily get to any part of that zone in ~90 seconds (once you can fly)

Pretty much this. You can find I believe 8 Aethernet crystals scattered around The Dravanian Hinterlands. If you want to be real fancy then you can also include The Arkitekton, a facility once used to make Aetherytes, currently under the control of The Illuminati (or use to be? I dunno anymore).

I would love to see the version they had in mind though, the one where Idyllshire is a part of The Dravanian Hinterlands. But I think we all know this won't be happening anytime soon, if ever.

It kind of already is. The moment you can go to Tailfeather in the Forelands it immediately becomes more convenient to teleport there, and work your way backwards into the Western Highlands, unless some story bit requires you to go to Falcon's Nest.

They had magitek teleporters. We use some of them to get around during the first trip through the zone, until the one leading from the dragon area to the Flagship broke down (which, conveniently, is when we get the last aether current and unlock flying).

I think they were intentionally broken by the homeland to prevent their use by other people.

I get what you're saying, but it's already kind of negligible since it's right next to the exit to Ishgard.

I think there has to be a story related reason for something like that, usually most things in this game have a lore-related reason behind it (except for a couple of things).


I think it would be good opportunity to have a Goblin Tribe Questline where they go to restore a Aetheryte for some specific reason in the hinterlands, and it would be a fun chance to see how Aetherytes are made.

If you recall while doing MSQ in Azys Lla, technically they have teleporters (warp platforms are labeled as "Matter Conduit [x-y]"), which allows instant warping in each quadrant. We used the teleporters to get across each location originally when we first arrived at Azys Lla and didn't have flying unlocked.
Ex: Matter Conduit II-III warps you to Matter Conduit III-II.

There was supposed to be a centralized location to warp to the ship but that one broke down at the very end, forcing us to look for another alternative to reach the Aetherochemical Research facility (which was what led to finding a locked up dragon and unlocking flight after). You can still use those teleporters after the MSQ is over to move across parts of the map in a very short time period though.

There's also a little shortcut out to the Hinterlands too if you're in W Coerthas:

One of my friends didn't even know it was there until I went through the cave lol. Not too far from a mount up in Falcon's Nest and out there either.

Okay, but you have to click twice. That is annoying. Also Matoya wanting to be alone doesn't mean that people will bug her just because people are moving into the area again.

lol I was literally just thinking, while in a hunt train, that it's kind of cool there's no aetheryte in the hinterlands. And less aetherytes in general in HW. Makes it feel like you're in "the wild", away from civilization of the ARR zones.

Not necessarily arguing for keeping it that way. Just think it gives the hinterlands some character.

I once had an idea to turn that into a FATE chain event. Escort/defense a group from Falcon's Nest, collect materials or something, defend from attack, that sort of thing. Might not even be possible to put in, but making players put effort into keeping it active would be... entertaining, maybe more than fun.. It'd be something similar to Highbridge or Redbelly Hive, which alter slightly depending on FATE status.

All this talk of aetherytes, tho, and not one mention of the one teleport desperately needed. Why in the world have we never gotten a direct teleport from the Ishgard aethernet straight to CWH? Every city in ARR gets direct access to adjacent zones. Ishgard already has CCH listed. Bare minimum CWH should also get added as soon as access is unlocked. Cloudtop and Azys Lla are also viable, but that might be stretching the "adjacent" requirement.

I don't recall it ever being specified. The main aetheryte might've been disabled to prevent anyone from following (we see the same thing at the House of the Fierce in Doma), but the city aethernet seems to have just been abandoned and left to the elements. And that was before the Calamity.

Nowadays, the goblins in Idyllshire have patched up the main aetheryte for convenience, but with the hostile Illuminati at the gates, they obviously aren't gonna hand them an easy way into the city by rebuilding the local aethernet. (And yes, the story has moved on and the Illuminati isn't a threat anymore, but remember, the game exists in a time bubble. It's been five years after the Calamity for almost ten years now.)

Goodness, please. Both aetherytes are on the same side of the map, it doesn't really help but... there's no other settlements which makes it really frustrating. Hate navigating that zone, even with flight.

Long overdue, assuming you've completed the Alexander quests. It should be right on his head.
